    I'd suggest Terry's Chocolate Orange, or if you want a Cadbury bar that's a bit more moist you could try the Wispa. I don't know if you get it there, but Galaxy chocolate is heavenly.

    The best way to eat flake is with vanilla ice cream, or by crushing it up and putting it in a glass of cold milk. That's the way I've always had it. :)

    Hey Matt! I have been following your cosplay for about a year now, and can I just say how great you've done. May I ask, which of all the tennant ties that magnoli make have the same lining inside of the tie as the original? I seen your recent video on the Kenzo tie, and as soon as you said it had the original lining, I was sold. Do you think he could ever update it again? Like you said, it's completely screen accurate! Keep up the good work, Matt!

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +The Doctor & Co Thanks! As far as the linings go, that's pretty tough. I know the Swirly Tie has a plain red lining like the original, and his Annivesary Tie has the same light blue paisley as the St. George. Other than those though (and the Kenzo), I'm not sure to be honest.

    • @thedoctorco3880
      @thedoctorco3880 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +TenthDoctorMatt You're channel is awesome, I've just watched your most recent video Every Day Tennant Hair, the tips you gave are amazing! Especially the 'Less is more' tip, when I do mine, I usually have to wash my hair again because I use too much wax! Thanks for the information! It's great that you reply to as many comments as you can. Now that I know the Swirly Tie has the original lining also, I think that one will be the second tie I will get. I am planning on buying the Anniversary Tie aka the St George tie from eBay, many people say that the wide version of the tie (8cm) is the screen worn tie, but recently I've seen a few people saying that the slim version (7cm) is the screen worn one. This page says the 8cm tie, do you happen to know which one David wore? tennantsuit.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/st-george-by-duffer-tie-definitive.html

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it was the 8cm ("regular") tie. That was the one that was originally made with the blue keeper loop, which supposedly was on David's. Also, the slim version of the tie does not have a paisley lining - just plain light blue.

    • @thedoctorco3880
      @thedoctorco3880 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TenthDoctorMatt Oh okay! Do you have the one with the paisley lining?

    Yes, dogs do LOVE marmite. They are a good way of administering pills to your dog, but count your fingers after.
    In the UK purple is black current
    The sauce on spotted dick is called custard, a banana flavored egg based sauce.
    Mince pies used to contain meat. Spice was an expensive way of showing off how rich you where. It took over mixed with exotic fruits like oranges, raisins and figs pushing the mince beef out.

    Flakes go in the top of a vanilla ice cream cone in the uk and we call it a 99 which I believe stems from when ice cream was brought to the uk from Italy and sold in little glass cone shapes with a spoon and called a penny lick which is how much it cost.

      I couldn't leave it I had to say, you didn't eat the marmite in the best way. You need to cover true toast in butter and put a very small amount of marmite on so it doesn't cover the toast completely. Then it tastes really good

    Reason that US Cadbury is not so great: the chocolate "crumb" - the solid element - is actually shipped across from the UK. As with the UK version, the crumb is mixed with milk. The problem is American milk.
    Milk in the USA has Uric Acid added to it as a preservative. This is banned in the UK. We pasturise instead.
    The Uric Acid gives your milk a bitter after-taste and that you'll never find in the UK, which is why the British stuff is better :)

  • @vickytaylor9155
    @vickytaylor9155 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    It’s pronounced iron brew. We generally say fizzy drink or just the name of the drink.

  • @markanne54
    @markanne54 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hah, for a novice you still spread it far too thickly. When they say spread it thinly they mean THINLY! Your toast, or bread, should still look like mostly just buttered but with a trace of Marmite marbling in it. Later when you get the taste for it you can build up the thickness of spread to suit. I've just watched a TH-cam video of a German girl now living in London and she said it took her seventeen attempts at eating Marmite before she could just stand it but then something just clicked and now she can't get enough of it. It really is what they call an acquired taste. It goes especially well with some Cheddar cheese in a sandwhich.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +markanne54 Ahh okay, I did give it another try with butter and less Marmite - it was better, but still a bit strong. I'll definitely keep trying! I quite like Twiglets, so I feel like I'll eventually like the Marmite too haha

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +markanne54 Hey you were so right! I tried it this morning, with a very tiny bit of marmite marbled with the butter. It tasted WAY better! I actually liked it this time! :D

    You don't eat sweet mince pies with a fork. Take it out of the sliver case and use your hand. That is how we do it over here. Marks and Spencers do one of the best at Christmas time

  • @sammygirl5835
    @sammygirl5835 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love the video - really love the Cyberman t-shirt :o) - So I see from comments you’ve come around to Marmite (food of the Gods!) somewhat. Have you tried it with cheese, just spread lightly on the bread before making a grilled cheese sandwich, it makes it so special. Marmite by the way is in the umami group of flavouring, like soya and MSG, so it small quantities it acts as a flavour enhancer.
    Did you guys cook that Spotted Dick? It should be eaten hot, I mean it won’t kill you or anything, but hot with Bird’s Custard is how it should be eaten - personally I don’t like it, give me syrup sponge every time. Sultanas are almost impossible to get in the USA, believe me I’ve tried, Golden Raisins are as close as you will get.
    Mince pies, contain Mince Meat - which doesn’t have meat in it (not anymore), although the really good stuff dose have beef suet in it, these days most of them use vegetable suet, thus making it good for Vegetarians and also Kosha and Halal. You are meant to take them out of the case and eat them in your hands, at Christmas.
    Cadbury flake are best eaten stuck into an ice cream, Google Image search ‘99 ice cream’. If you want 2 flakes in your ice cream you ask for ‘Bunny Ears’ Cadbury make special short flake for ice cream.
    If you do this again I think you need to try - Syrup Tarts, Tunnocks Chocolate Caramel Wafer, Mini Chedders (plain or Bar-B-Q), Galaxy Salt Caramel Chocolate and maybe Bacon Oddities.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked it! I haven't yet tried Marmite on a grilled cheese, but that definitely sounds like it would be delicious! I'll certainly give it a try. And yes, we did heat up the Spotted Dick - but sadly we didn't have any custard to go on it :( I think that would have improved it (although I did like the flavor anyway). I'll definitely keep all those snacks you mentioned in mind for a future tasting too!

    Jaffa Cakes. is it a biscuit or is it a cake? This is the great British debate. Marmite is good when used in gravy. One spoonful stirred into your gravy gives it a bit of a kick.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Lord HeHe Hm I could see Marmite doing a good job on some gravy. And I think personally I'd vote that Jaffa Cakes are more cake than biscuit ;)

    • @timaustin2000

      They actually had a court case over this - cakes go hard when they go stale, biscuits go soft. So Jaffa Cakes are cakes, legally.

    I've been British all my life and I've never even seen a Spotted Dick in a tin. Spotted dick is like an old fashioned pudding that my grandmother used to make... 'cos we was poor. And I've never eaten a mince pie with a fork (still in its little tray). Mince pies are two bites, minimum (out of the little tray).

  • @colinwilson4658
    @colinwilson4658 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    you spread the marmite fare to thick 15 to 20% of that would be plenty its very concentrated
    we call pop FIZZY DRINKS
    purple in the UK is always blackcurrant
    spotted dick should be steam cooked & covered in custard its to dry on its own
    mince means vine fruits ( if there is no D on the end there is no meat)
    & yes twiglets are marmite flavoured

    Yet another video of people trying Marmite.
    I 'get it' why people don't like it when you put it on toast like you're putting tile cement on a ceramic tile. That's WAY to much on that piece of toast.
    You must have used half that small jar. Use about a (Garden)Pea size amount & spread it so you can barely see it on the toast. It ain't Chocolate spread.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jerry Holland Yeah the problem was nobody told us that ahead of time. The only thing I heard was "put it on thin" rather than "put plenty of butter first, and then literally the tiniest amount of marmite marbled into the butter." I actually like it now, since I learned the right way to eat it ;P
