Thank you for this video, TFS got me back into Destiny 2 and I've been having a lot of difficulty trying to find out anything since most tutorials are out of date already. Also also, in regards to Exotic Engrams and choosing a specific one from Rahool, you can only do that if you've already unlocked it prior in Collections tab.
I just returned last week and THIS is the best video I've seen after hours of research to understand everything. If this doesn't get an award within the community, I'll fight everybody for you
I have over 3k hours in D2 alone. Getting into destiny is one of the hardest things to recommend friends because of how convoluted and confusing it can be for new players (even with the "new light experience"...). I tend to have to jump in a discord call with them and walk them through everything, which can be a bit annoying for them to be hand held like that so much. THIS VIDEO IS A GODSEND FOR ME. This is literally everything I would want a new player (and newish players reaching endgame for the first time) to know and understand. Done is a very clean, easy to follow way. Liked, Saved, and Subscribed. Will be sharing this to any future friend who shows interest in destiny.
I played Destiny 1 an unhealthy amount. Stopped playing Destiny right at the beginning of D2. I just redownloaded it and have 0 clue what is going on 😂 it’s been many years
My best advice is save all materials until you really know what you want to do with it bro we have like 600 slots to save items so don’t hesitate to just stash away and clear them out later! Good luck bro! Welcome back! 👍
Doesn't help that they deleted content people paid for so now none of us can experience the entire story ever again. Turns out they deleted a lot of of their payroll too by firing them before the end of the month and saved a bunch of money; and also ruined a lot of people's lives. Bungie's a lovely company.
@@merancapeman While I could go on about how salty I am that Sunsetting/Vaulting happened, let's be real, all of that content sucked total ass. The only good DLC's D2 has to offer are Forsaken, Witch Queen, and The Final Shape. Lightfall is a shit campaign and even more shit progression for Subclass, but at least the Titan variation became Meta recently. Curse of Osiris is bad, Warmind is bad, Shadowkeep is very forgettable, Witch Queen has a great story, Beyond Light is Beyond Boring, and Lightfall is just tedious. Besides, none of that content would be remotely relevant to new Destiny, given that Seasons run the majority of progression, and the only raids people are going to be running are the newer ones unless the old exotics/legs are needed for builds. Dungeons, Pathfinder, Seasons, and Raids are the endgame, there really is no need for the bloat that the first 3 expansions gave, and D2's vanilla campaign while cool for vets really isn't all that needed anymore. Edit: To add onto this, Exotic Ciphers can grant you the ability to buy any past exotics that are not available via Engrams or Quests. So if you really wanna run let's say a Solar Titan Regen Cons Build w Tommys Matchbook, just get a cipher and buy it.
I played d2 for the first 3 DLCs then got busy, became a dad and just recently started gaming again after 4 years. I’ve been struggling the last few weeks lost af. Thank you so much for this video! You’re a true king!
I’m in the same boat! Became a dad in 2019 and just re-downloaded the game last week. Do you know of any playgroups? Trying to find a crew to play with once or twice a week
Video added to playlists, I hit the subscribe button.... Thank you for showing us the way. I'm an old guardian that played destiny 1.... Everything is new and scary
It's sad to me that this really doesn't get explained well, it's sad that you have to hunt down shadow or some other elusive TH-camr to find out the most important and integral parts of the game that are barely explained or you just have ADD, and miss all of the information in the two seconds that it's on the screen and never realize it, until I press a cool button 3 hours later and find out what the game had on the screen for 2 seconds like a whole campaign and a half after it told me
@@orlandoservin5492 there's a lot of stuff in the current new light that really never gets explained, and unless you have a good clan of friends, it's nearly impossible to get into higher end content you need to level up like legend campaign because everyone is looking for sweats. I've played for a while and think being blueberry friendly has been one of my favorite parts of raiding, if you are willing to learn and do roles, you're doing a lot better than the sweats that want it done 1 way and will leave after 1 attempt, it's one of those games you don't really get a lot from the game itself, it's like that one friend teaching you the button to sprint in Mario Bros., it's not there, and there's really no guide for it, it's just there and you never really learn it even though it's extremely important.
But why would the devs do that? It would take away PRECIOUS hours of their day writing great easily accessible tutorials or good dialogue that isn't cryptic AF. They need those precious hours at a time to make sure they are at their tip-top snowflake prime
They understand that games nowadays resolve beetwen in and outside game, and doing so promotes videos, guides and a sense of community. Thats why even the Raids you need to watch tutoriais to maybe complete it
Just got back into Destiny 2 yesterday. I played a ton of Destiny 1 but only played the OG campaign in D2. I’ve got Witch Queen, Lightfall, and maybe another DLC downloaded due to PS Plus, but I am so overwhelmed with the amount of content and jargon that my head is spinning.
Probably the most comprehensive guide i’ve ever seen for destiny. As a veteran player who’s been absent since forsaken, I really appreciate the work you put in. Despite the love hate relationship a majority of us have with bungie, me and other can’t wait to get back into the game now that revenant is coming up.
I came into destiny, did a mission and saw a dude named cayde die... i dont know who tf he was. Then i got disconnected from the server, connected back, got pushed into some random quest. And my character sees cayde and he acts like he hasnt seen cayde in over a decade... meanwhile i still dont know how the fuck to navigate through the game
As a returning player who hasnt really taken the game seriously since like forsaken this is really nice. I played all the expansions but never got deep in the weeds in any of them but maybe witchqueen. So Thank You this was very helpful the game has changed alot over the years but I like how deep some of the stuff has gotten.
I started D2 about 10 days ago. To be fair the Progress tab did a decent job of pointing me in the right direction and doing the things to get Guardian Rank 6 explained all of the things at the start of the video. I needed to look up a few things up from TH-cam videos but on the whole the new player experience isn’t as bad as some folks make out.
Im here cause my boyfriend loves destiny and has been playing since D1 was first released. I wanna play with him, and know what he’s doing when I watch him
I am a returning player mainly for story DLCs and honestly you did amazing with this video. As someone that has been playing on and off since D1 Beta, I love the way you explained all the verbs and interactions. Personally, I've been running Prismatic and always running the grapple no matter what, I also run gunpowder gamble so at least I still get a grenade too occasionally
I kind of hate how there isn’t a completely “Solo” experience in the game. Some challenges like triumphs or rare weapons, you literally NEED a team. I have no friends that have an interest in this game, and people that do offer help, usually want you to know everything about that dungeon, or anything else, and be an “expert” in running them.
I played everything, starting from the beta in D1, up to Shadowkeep. I just couldn't keep up with the grind and didn't have the money at the time to keep paying for the expansions... Worst of all none of my friends play it anymore. They got tired before I did. Final Shape does sound fun, but I don't know if it's worth the solo experience
Thanks for this video! Quit for like 4 years bc I was tired of the grind after maxing all 3 classes. The last dlcs have me returning and this helps IMMENSELY! Deserved like and sub.
My bro and I started playing this 2 days ago and this video is extremely helpful. It is a very overwhelming game to jump into. The combat gameplay seems worth it though
Thanks for making this video. I’ve been off and on with destiny since the beta of D1, with my last break being the longest. This video helped me out a lot
Wow.... Now this is a wonderful video! Since Destiny 2 came out I have wanted to play it but I didn't have the means, but now I do... And yes, Destiny has many, MANY things that ended up confusing me at first. For example, about the fragments, I really had no idea which ones were good or bad and what benefits they had, And in the same way, someone who had "explained" me ended up confusing me more than I already was. So thank you... For this amazing guide! And likewise all the other videos you've made for the Destiny community! And as apparently I have been called a lot, a blueberry. Ah, And also thanks for the guide on which settings that were activated by default to turn off, it was very useful! Now I'm doing much better than when I started, thank you very much!! Thank you! ♡
This video is great. The game has a lot of things going on and is super overwhelming to newbies and I can't believe that players who are interested have to go and watch an hour long production like this bc the game itself fails to show us the ropes. Really disappointed with the developers on this part and it's just frustrating...
When talking about Class selection, you should point out the game is designed for you to play & have 1 of each class ! Yes, you can pick a favorite (Titans 4 ever!) . But all 3 need to be used to play properly. Note: you probably should also mention the Best tool ever made for Destiny, DIM !
If you’re a new player to Destiny 2 and are only interested in playing solo campaign here are a few things to understand. You start the game off fairly powerful. The reasoning for this is for you to be able to jump in with your friends and play together online, but if you’re only interested in the campaign its to your benefit because you don’t have to grind so hard to enjoy the story. The Timeline is just a recap of the entire story up to The Final Shape. Some recaps are cinematic, some you have to read, and some are playable quests. As a new player you’ll want to play these quests to get the reward at the end. Bungie now offers Shadowkeep and Beyond Light campaigns for free. Only the campaigns. To get the extra goodies that come with these respected dlc’s you’ll have to purchase their packs. again if you just want to play the campaigns don’t worry about it for now. New Light not to be mistaken for Beyond Light, NEW LIGHT is an introduction to game and its mechanics. I recommend playing through it for as long as you can tolerate it and than start Shadowkeep. The first 3 dlc’s released are no longer available to download or purchase Bungie vaulted them so Shadow Keep is where the playable story campaign begins. To start Shadowkeep you have to go to the Moon and click on the blue banner that will get you started. Lastly, I just want to stress not to over think it. It a MMO and if you never played a game like this than it can be overwhelming. MMO don’t play like a traditional video game I.e God of War. You’re going to see other players on the map hopping around doing their own quests or even the same one you’re doing. Just ignore it and have fun. By the time you’ve finished the two dlc campaigns I guarantee you’ll have a better understanding of the game and its mechanics.
I was an og and completely obsessed destiny 1 player Ive recently found myself with some free time and have decided togive it a go. My lord its changed 😂 Not as rusty as i thought id be though!
Cheers for video! Awoken Warlock since D1 alpha, space magic and nova bombs set their hooks early and now super well and kamehameha make the other classes pale by comparison ;p
Really hope this UI and all the stuff gets mutch friendly for new players with destiny because its a mess like that. The should really focus more on this parts to make a good structure for new players from the story missions and guides.
I never played this game and don't know nothing about it but I can understand "how confusing" this game already is just by looking how long a guide video takes..
I love distiny played first and preordered destiny 2 but stopped playing cuz dlc took to long but i wanna get back into it but i haven't played since launch and now its insane
The last time I tried Destiny 2 was a free play weekend back in 2018, this video was super helpful for picking up the legacy collection, especially the Guardian Ranks section. Thanks!
The last time you made this video, it was an amazing help in getting into Destiny. I wouldn't have know wtf to do cus the game tells you nothing. I wish I had more time to play Destiny, cus I just can not finish a season pass. Thats the biggest downside of this game... if you get into it, I hope you ain't doing anything else with your life. 😂 The game runs on FOMO. Its got some of the best gunplay in videogames, and even just running around maps screwing around is a good time. I have no regrets in buying the expansions. I just wish I had gotten into it during the pandemic when I had nothing better to do. 😂
Wow . After Watching this what i thought i knew i didnt really know and what i need to know ill never really know . But ill have fun pretending like i do
4:43 Correction/update: the protective bubble super (Ward of Dawn) no longer buffs weapon damage by default anymore after a recent patch. But you can still get that if you equip an exotic armor piece (Helm of Saint 14).
excellent, excellent, excellent 👍👍👍👍 in every destiny group I'm in. you see (hey I'm new and don't know what to do) and I always link your video to them
I’ve just come back after the first season of destiny 2 I was a veteran on destiny 1 but got a bad taste in my mouth on number 2 and that’s because I had the same expectation of destiny 1 without taking in that it will be a balanced version from all the info and feedback they got from the first one , fun fact: I had a notification from bungie about being the top weekly crucible player on destiny 1 one of my greatest achievements that I will never find is there a way where I can flex that 🤣
Returned to the game to find a malevolent paywall of content(it cool that light fall and witch queen are on a massive discount and is the only reason I returned). Also when did dungeons become a separate payment to the dlc? Pit of heresy and shattered throne came with the dlc no? I find it very daunting as a returning player that £20 for each dungeon key £40 for the dlc and £10-15 for seasonal content and if there was no discount £60 for previous DLCs and all this added up to £150. Game looks in a better state but I’m in no position to say if it’s worth the money since I don’t have the money to buy all of that. Can someone who has actually purchased all of this tell me if it’s worth it
You can hold it, just include your old gear with these cubes, that increase the power lvl of your old gear. Ps: Sry, i am not very good in English, but hope this helped you ^^ On the End dont make you so many troubles, just take it easy, because old gear can also be good , just as goal become 100 Defense and thrn you are safe ^^
So last hint watch the video to thr End and maybe the following, when you're ready with the Basics, there is explanded wich exotic is better for pvp ^^
I really want to get back into D2, but after Forsaken it became too overwhelming for me. Even trying to keep up with this video is too much. I think my Destiny days are over.
Just play quests and bounties And enjoy the new drops. Playing raids with friends never gets old. I'm just getting back now after years - I never even saw Cayde die.... The amount of content does feel a bit overwhelming, but I'm excited to have so much to chip away at. Years ago I got bored with the lack of content, so this has been a complete 180
Can you still play through Beyond Light & Witch Queen campaign? And do you have to complete Lightfall to unlock Strand in The Final Shape or is there a faster way?
Not sure if it's just a 'my account problem', but failsafe and Micah don't seem to be working towards the vendor challenges at guardian rank 5. And with the rest being removed from the game, good luck getting to rank 6..
thank you thank you thank you! I played this game when the base version was still pay to play. Last time was with the witch queen i think. Now i'm still deciding to buy or not the legacy collection on pc (i have the game on ps5 but i heard pc is the best platform so i need to decide if the platform switch is worth it or not the 25 dollars), but still..this video is really helpful
I have OCD and always loved Destiny as a game, unfortunately i refuse to buy the last 2 expansions (Light Fall and Revenent or something) until they fix the bugs of earlier content. Just started a new game as Hunter, if i can't even play Caydes Fate i dont see any reason to buy anything else. Isnt that theft? Paying for something and then having it taken away without compensation?
I'm disappointed you didn't mention the blocking for Sentinal Shield where it gives a damage buff if friendlies shoot through it, I'd say 2 out of 10 random players know about it and it's never the titans. I love that subclass so sorry for this small complaint.
So... I resumed Destiny 2 before Final Shape launched and had access to Hall of Champions where you could get 1810 armor - all of that armor had 70 stat values, and I'm told anything above 60 is high stat armor, which means they were the HIGHEST stat armor, right? Even if the distribution isn't exactly how I need it to be, should I ever be replacing the Reverie Dawn set that I got from Hall of Champions, or just infuse them to higher levels?
I'm having some issues with Guardian Rank 5 to 6. I'm stuck on the "Vendor Challenges" that requires me to complete 2 weekly vendor challenges. The game tells me to look for blue banners which I saw for a while, was able to complete 1/2 and now the blue banners are all gone. The only new one that showed up was from the Ghost for the 100% reputation in the area, but after completing that I didn't get credit. Any ideas? I'm a brand new player with the new DLC and the Legacy Pack (2023).
If you do it on a new character it works. For example I did the bounties for the gunsmith on my hunter and warlock and got 2/2. Doesn’t take that long to make a new character if u don’t have one yet, and you can even transfer over weapons through your vault.
Brand new player here, should I start in the new dlc or get the old stuff (steam has the legacy collection discounted) and work my through that into the final shape? Genuinely no idea and just want to have fun with the game lol
If you care about the story and want to play as much as possible, then start with the collection and do the old campaigns in order. Otherwise just buy The Final Shape and play what others are playing right now. You can always buy those old expansions later or watch the story on youtube 😊
I have a question. I'm a new player and my friend is a returning player so we will play alot together. He plays a warlock, is it a problem when I play a warlock too? Or is there no problem doing 3 man content with 2 warlocks?
hey shadow you probaly wont see this but do you think that a f2p player can still enjoy destiny 2? coming back after a long break and just want to find out.
So I haven’t played since beyond light. Got witch queen, light fall, and final shape. Should I work my through the expansions or just dive right into final shape?

Thanks for the vid! Haven't played since Stasis abilities dropped, so this'll help a bunch!
I was an og and completely obsessed destiny 1 player
Ive recently found myself with some free time and have decided togive it a go.
My lord its changed 😂
Not as rusty as i thought id be though!
Cheers for video! Awoken Warlock since D1 alpha, space magic and nova bombs set their hooks early and now super well and kamehameha make the other classes pale by comparison ;p
I am a brand new player and I am hoping this will be my go to video to help me really geta grip on the game. I will let you know 👏😉
Man destiny sure does punish people for taking long breaks. Thanks for making this easier to swallow.
Amazing work here dude. Clear, concise and exactly what I needed!
Thanks for making this video, learned couple of things from it 👍
truly man thank you for this youre incredible keep up the good work and love for the destiny community!
Massive video for me, a new player. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Well done man. Thank you for the information.
Need more vids like this
Great video for new players!
The last time I tried Destiny 2 was a free play weekend back in 2018, this video was super helpful for picking up the legacy collection, especially the Guardian Ranks section. Thanks!
Haven't played for five years nice video 👍
I’m just now coming back since the first dlc in Destiny 2 was realeased. Lemme just say there’s so much stuff now😭
Same bro.
Good tip
I wanna a FULL breakdown of a :
what can you get and do for FREE if you are a new/returning player.
Please
Thank you, this is a fantastic breakdown. It is still so much information 😂
This man is a king
excellent, excellent, excellent 👍👍👍👍 in every destiny group I'm in. you see (hey I'm new and don't know what to do) and I always link your video to them
this video is just perfect ... thank you !
With the final shape release how many games do I need to buy to have all the content to play?
Omg i called it in the previous tutorial guide!!
Can someone who has actually purchased all of this tell me if it’s worth it
Btw Woven mail only decreases incoming body shot damage/ explosive damage
should i dismantle all of my old gears ? i quit when witch-queen came out ? please i need help
You can hold it, just include your old gear with these cubes, that increase the power lvl of your old gear.
Ps: Sry, i am not very good in English, but hope this helped you ^^
On the End dont make you so many troubles, just take it easy, because old gear can also be good , just as goal become 100 Defense and thrn you are safe ^^
Watch the video at 59:00, maybe it will also clean your Questions ^^
So last hint watch the video to thr End and maybe the following, when you're ready with the Basics, there is explanded wich exotic is better for pvp ^^
Its okey man, thanks for the tips i appreciate it
@@astronautloop5134You are welcome
"Some people get obsessed with fashion"...... I feel attacked and I thought that was the true endgame.
I really want to get back into D2, but after Forsaken it became too overwhelming for me. Even trying to keep up with this video is too much. I think my Destiny days are over.
It gets easier with time. Just play for fun and knowledge about different things will come to you
Just play quests and bounties And enjoy the new drops. Playing raids with friends never gets old. I'm just getting back now after years - I never even saw Cayde die.... The amount of content does feel a bit overwhelming, but I'm excited to have so much to chip away at. Years ago I got bored with the lack of content, so this has been a complete 180
What do I need to buy to play destiny 2 now
Fantastic guide, thanks 👍
As it turns out I really needed this video 👍
thanks for watching
Can you still play through Beyond Light & Witch Queen campaign?
And do you have to complete Lightfall to unlock Strand in The Final Shape or is there a faster way?
Hey shadow just subbed love you content!
Welcome aboard!
@17:29 - he knows our secret. And my multiple personalities don’t count unfortunately 😂😮😅
been gaming blind for a month, its guide time
Let’s gooo
There a little "GM house" with tiny lake near stormwind hidden in the hills
Not sure if it's just a 'my account problem', but failsafe and Micah don't seem to be working towards the vendor challenges at guardian rank 5. And with the rest being removed from the game, good luck getting to rank 6..
thanks helped me very well👍🏿
thank you thank you thank you!
Worth spending an Hour here!
Is it worth getting into the game if I don’t own any dlcs?
I’d say so, you can try it out, and then buy the DLC later!
@@ShadowDestiny2Thank you👍🏿
I have OCD and always loved Destiny as a game, unfortunately i refuse to buy the last 2 expansions (Light Fall and Revenent or something) until they fix the bugs of earlier content. Just started a new game as Hunter, if i can't even play Caydes Fate i dont see any reason to buy anything else. Isnt that theft? Paying for something and then having it taken away without compensation?
Thank you so much, but how come veterans are usually in the 1800s power level?
You are just seeing old videos. They keep adjusting the minimum light and light caps higher and higher each year
@@hax0n23 oh ok thanks
I went to crusible pvp zone to. Complete player ranked quest, everytime I spawned I simply died in 1 second afterwards.
I wish they would make a port of Destiny 1 to PC and call it like “Destiny classic”
I was about to try all of this stuff out AND SERVERS ARE OFFLINE EVEN WHEN THE NEW SEASON IS OUT
I'm disappointed you didn't mention the blocking for Sentinal Shield where it gives a damage buff if friendlies shoot through it, I'd say 2 out of 10 random players know about it and it's never the titans.
@@batmanista5814 thanks! Will give it a shot.
You can still enjoy it just won’t have anything that’s cool basically in new dlc
Really, not much, it's a lot of spending to get into and even GMs and trials are locked behind expansions.
What's the free to play bit like worth while?
It’s more like free to try but i would still recommend it 😊
So I haven’t played since beyond light. Got witch queen, light fall, and final shape. Should I work my through the expansions or just dive right into final shape?
Don't anderstand what DLC i need to buy and how catch the storyline to anderstand something...
You got to buy all of em
