I have a 2n. Things are bad about fuel delivery issues. When mine acts up, i just take the glass bowl off and clean it then put it back on and it's usually fine. The coil is also a problem if it gets too hot. You can turn the gas off and remove the glass bowl then turn the gas back on to see it drips or pours. Good indication. Cleaning out the tank would probably be a for sure fix. Some seafoam in the tank or something.
I put a new carburetor on and the old tractor runs much better now. I have a 1941 9n that the motor was locked up on. After messing with it for awhile I finally got it free. No spark currently but I hope to get it running soon. I enjoy messing around with these old tractors.
Considering it was my first time operating that tractor and nothing exploded I wouldn't say clueless. However if you would like to post an instructional video on how I should operate a tractor please feel free.
