Can I Use Chat GPT To Take Care Of My Pool?

  • From www.swimmingpo... this video talks about the potential of using artificial intelligence like chat GPT in order to make caring for your swimming pool much easier. While in fact the program displays an incredible amount of knowledge and information relating to all things, swimming pool care included, the reality is that there is no checks in place to prevent the program from delivering dangerously inaccurate information. So while this AI is a fantastic tool and one that will likely become a part of all of our lives moving forward, you will need to use common sense and manual double checking of information to ensure that any info chat GPT gives you is actually correct. In short, I would not trust AI to care for my pool or teach things like water chemistry as there is too great of a risk for erroneous chemistry values and protocols from the chat bot program.

I asked, chat, GPT information about my pool, and it recommended your channel Steve!

Is that really true? When it first launched I asked it a million questions to see if I could discern where it was pulling source information from. At the time I could not goad it into saying my website or my name. Despite that I must be one of the most prolific authors on the subject matter. Well...its about damn time the AI robots started recommending me. I think I taught them a lot of what they "know" about swimming pools.

I just tried it again. It mentioned a few of my competitors, but did not recommend me, nor did it have any idea who a "swimming pool steve" website, blog or youtube channel is. Bummer. Hopefully more people like you get a recommendation for my content from chat GPT

Hi Steve, no, as I don’t use that service, I was just giving you a very good complement. As you are the most knowledgeable one on TH-cam concerning swimming pools. But, I’m sure its algorithm will pick up on you real soon!

This is from ChatGPT after I queried it about my company, "I'm sorry, but I don't have access to real-time information or the ability to browse the internet, so I can't provide specific opinions or evaluations about companies that may have emerged after my last update in September 2021." @@Swimmingpoolsteve

Hey Steve, I'm a gas technician working myself into the pool heating business and I want to expedite my knowledge as much as possible. I've been trying to find as much material as I can and I appreciate the knowledge you've spread, is there any good textbooks or literature out there you could recommend, I would appreciate it, Thanks

Need some advice. I have had a humming noise since day one of the installation of the new pool pump. Had a professional install, and the brand new superflo pentair pump made a humming noise. Checked everything, did the rubber mallet and it started. Had issues again, took the pump back, and they said nothing was wrong. Brought it back home, had the same issues off, and one but worked for the most part. This season started up fine, but would stop and start on its own. Now it won't start just humming noise. HELP HELP

A mallet is never the right thing to do with a new pump. Only old pumps that are headed to the trash and you want a couple more starts out of it. A new pump should work as advertised. If not, it needs to be diagnos3d and fixed or replaced. I would not buy a new car and start it with a hammer. I would insist to the car dealer that they need to fix this car. It's not working. If the original installer will not return, I would contact an electrician next. They will have to confirm the right voltage exists where it should to conform the fault lies within the pump motor.

@Swimmingpoolsteve I did hire an electrician. He was at my home for 4 hours and could not figure out why it didn't work. I did take the pump back to the pool store and told them what was happening. They told me to come back in a few days. I came back and they said it worked fine. I bring it back, hook everything back up. Pump worked for about a month and did it again. Got it working until end of season. Opened pool beginning of June and same thing as last year.

@Swimmingpoolsteve Also, the pump was brand new when I purchased. That is what I was told. Looked new, box, everything. Same pump as what I previously had that lasted 13 years.

I don't even care about that. I'm just sorry I even opened the pool, lol... rain every day until the end of the month! SMH... I'm just watching it turn ever greener every day! I can get it crystal clear and "blue", but do I even want to at this point? SMH...😩😩😩

When I used to take care of my parents' pool, whenever we got a heavy rain, I'd go out, in the rain, and pour ½ a bottle of algecide (quats) in the pool. Otherwise, you could look out the window and watch it turn green. Now, in my own pool, I use borates to prevent algae. A side benefit is they stabilize the pH better than "pH stabilizer" aka sodium bicarbonate.

Balancing pool chemicals only requires simple math. Not sure why anybody would think that artificial intelligence was necessary. There are plenty of phone apps that already do that job flawlessly.
The dumb human still needs to test the levels, measure the additions and dump in the chemicals.
What were you expecting AI to do better than the app?

Are you saying you don't think people will try to use chat GPT to make their pool care and chemical math easier? I would take money on that bet. I can all but guarantee people are using it for just this purpose...hence this video.

I finally learned how to and in which order to treat the pool with the chemicals. It's a monumental achievement for me when it goes from green to crystal clear!
