Hello Justin, I would like you to make a documentary about how cutting machines are made, I follow the channel
I want to make that too. So far no company has let me come and do it, for various reasons. I’ve asked and I’ll keep asking because that’s a video I want to see! Thanks for the idea.

Awesome video!
Out of curiosity, what would have the gemcutter with the bow driven machine have used before topper laps? Wood with diamond? Would they have used aluminium oxide before diamond?
@@geoffgeoff143 no they would have used crushed up quartz. I saw a demonstration of it in Sri Lanka on a later trip.
Love it.
AWESOME!
Thanks Justin for your videos. ( T from Canada)
Hi,very good
🙏🙏🙏
i hope you will responde to this fingers cross . What are your thoughts about Sri Lankan cutting in comparison to your learned skill? can you lost down as per you what are the Pros and Cons ?
Most of my cutting style is Sri Lankan cutting. I worked with a master cutter from Sri Lanka for 3-4 years and I learned from him every single day. I wouldn't be the same without him and his teaching. I think in general, Sri Lankans are great cutters but there are a select few that worked in the factory in the 1990s with Yavorskyy and the guys that started Nomad's who took the best Sri Lankan cutter and retrained them with western ideas of cutting and quality control. My mentor was one of these guys and another one of those guys is now cutting in Hatton Garden in London. These guys are the best of the best from a great old culture of gemcutting. I love Sri Lanka and its great history!

If I bring rough stones with me to Sri Lanka to have them cut, how much customs duties will I pay?
I have no idea. I’ve never taken stones to Sri Lanka.
Nothing wrong with quartz I suppose
