Not a budget cigar in general, but reasonable for a Cuban, especially in the UK. RASS are the only Ramon Allones I've tried. I don't remember getting as many nuances front the taste as you've managed, but have always been good smokes and have developed nicely through the thirds. Wonder if yours was more aged then mine? Interesting that you've contrasted it against the Gigantes you reviewed earlier, love when different vitolas are contrasted against each other, as it can make them feel like completely different makes.

If someone asked me "what does a decent Cuban taste like" , I'd give them a RASS with 5 plus years of age. Fantastic cigar.

Ever noticed the majority of cigars get more ‘peppery’ towards the end? I believe it’s to do with the heat. By the end of the cigar it’s at its warmest point. The same as if you light with a blue flame…it warms the foot of the cigar up too fast, and results in that same peppery taste that comes from that burning/charing at the end. If you don’t believe me light the cigar slowly with a soft flame. The slower you light it and introduce the heat to the leaves the better it will taste at the start. Trust me 😉

Yes although I find this has a lot to do with how quickly you smoke.. personally I try to slow down on all my cigars now and the flavours are so much nicer throughout. But some sticks are just pepperbombs regardless when you get to the end! and yes that also does make a big difference.. I always try to light my cigars from distance as it does make a big difference to the flavour in the first third. Thank you :)

I've got 4 of these in my humidor, one day I'll find the time to fully appreciate one as they're huge

Fantastic cigar. The small club corona is also a beautiful smoke, although rather overpriced these days. RA no 3 is next on the list for me - have you tried it?
