      @@JustinTyme-x4r the colleges are able to keep raising tuition exactly because of those loans. the loans are essentially free money for colleges. kids will take the loans no matter how much they are. they figure, "i'll worry about that when i graduate, it's an investment". in my opinion, ALL college loans should be banned, and people should only pay for college out of pocket. while it will be painful at first, it will do 3 things. first, kids won't have absurd debts of $100k, $200k, etc. second, only the most necessary majors will be picked. third, college prices will go down. the only reason they're so high is because colleges charge whatever they want, and kids take out loans. when that option is off the table and no one is going to those colleges, the colleges will be forced to lower tuition until it's a reasonable amount, and maybe more of them will offer online options to save money and lower costs.
      In 2024 dollars, here's the yearly tuition over the decades:
      1960s: Public: $4,000 | Private: $12,300
      1970s: Public: $4,200 | Private: $14,500
      1980s: Public: $6,800 | Private: $19,500
      1990s: Public: $6,500 | Private: $22,800
      2000s: Public: $6,000 | Private: $28,000
      2010s: Public: $9,800 | Private: $36,900
      2020s: Public: $10,700 | Private: $38,200
      As an alternative to college, the US should also offer awareness and encouragement of skilled trades, with a focus on entrepreneurship in those trades.

      People have bought into the idea of culture wars that "oh the school is giving my kid a litter box" or something untrue and stupid like that, so now that's all they need to be against the school system. The only one who benefits from it is the upper class and elites, uneducated people gravitate towards conservatism, and especially Trumpism. He literally said "I love the uneducated!" and people cheered like hyenas. There's only so much we can educate grown ass adults before realizing this is just who they are. They're lost causes.

    The median cost for a public school student is $30k per year. The median cost for a private school student is $15k per year. Private and charter school students out perform public school students by a huge margin. Private schools have 1 big advantage over public schools. You can hold them accountable by choosing to give your money to a different school if they're not delivering the results you want. You can't do that with public schools. Get rid of the department of education and give parents a $15k voucher to send their kids to a private school. Schools will then compete to provide the best results because they want the money.

    • @alishanicole3887
      @alishanicole3887 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      @@phyzix_phyzix I’m a teacher with 23 years of experience. Vouchers are a joke. Your comment shows what you understand about education. The reason private schools outperform public has several important components. The first being that private school can reject anyone they want. If a child is a discipline problem, they are expelled. Special Education students are nonexistent. Federal and state laws do not apply to them.
      2. Parent insolvent and horrific home lives are an issue with public school students. How can you expect a child to perform academically if they are afraid of going home after school, they’re hungry, homeless, being bullied or familial issues?
      3. Vouchers do not cover the total cost of tuition. Parents often do not understand this. They realize that tuition costs much more financially than the voucher.

    • @phyzix_phyzix
      @phyzix_phyzix 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@alishanicole3887 Federal and state laws do not apply to private schools? They are above the law? I think you may need to go back to school and educate yourself.
      Private schools cannot discriminate against protected groups like disability, economic, or racial backgrounds. Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI), Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Americans with Disabilities Act just to name a few.
      2. Hallett, R. E., & Skrla, L. (2017). Serving Students Who Are Homeless: A Resource for Schools, Districts, and Educational Leaders. This book includes discussions on the educational needs of homeless students and how different school settings impact their learning experiences including how homeless students given private schooling outperform students in public schools.
      The Behavior Code by Jessica Minahan and Nancy Rappaport talks about how specialized programs provided in private and charter schools change the behaviors and outcomes for children with behavioral and family issues. Public education is a one size fits all solution that fails specifically the students you mention. Private schools have more freedom to provide tailor made solutions that deal with specific issues.
      Additionally, private schooling provides the parent the choice to change schools if they feel their child is not receiving the required attention, support, or protections against things like bullying. If your child is being bullied in a public school good luck because its very difficult, and in some cases impossible, to change schools.
      3. $15k is the median cost per year all inclusive for private schools vs $30k per year all inclusive for public schools.
