Being Irish, I've spent a lot of time in the rain. It rains an awful lot here. As we speak, it is dark, 9:50PM here in Ireland and this is currently the weather situation here. I'm standing in my shed, as the roof is galvanised and the sound of the rain is beautiful on it. Yet, I'm still here listening to this too! Us bloody Irish, we just can't get enough of the rain! The only difference between winter and summer in Ireland is that the rain gets warmer. Excuse me now lads, as I stand out in this storm Francis for a few minutes and enjoy the rain on my face. It's natural for that to happen though, because of your mind's memory of rain. I also felt a few drips a couple days ago and it shocked me for a moment.
This kind of rain we get in East Africa since I was a kid, it'd rain and very big thunderstorms and sharp lightning, we'd all over sleep in the morning, and get late for school, it's kind of therapeutic .
I remember as a kid growing up in kenya, we would go out and play football in the rain because that meant we could play all day long and didn’t have to wait til the sun went down lol. Good times

I want to hear real rain falling on a lake or a pond where the microphone is under a heavy bridge (as opposed to an umbrella). That’s as close as you can to what it sounds like to walk in the rain without an umbrella - which is really nice. I went jogging during Tropical Storm Elsa and it was just so nice and refreshing but I don’t have the equipment to record it.

I videoed one of those storms in Uganda in 2006. The clap of the thunder was different than what I've always heard.
