      It's fun to watch these videos , but 5 minutes of classes in person will help more and it will prevent more injuries

    Just to say Tnx again. Helped me a lot. Gettin more tacks than before when doing boom to boom. Absolutely better in rough wave conditions

    The sail counterbalance your body weight is also very important to keep you stable during the transition. Yet another great video 👍👍

    Driving the board thru the wind with the back foot seems like an important point and possibly something I've been missing (as my tracks a aren't that fast). Can't wait to try it!!

      Thanks Simon! Part 2 of this is almost ready- same move in planing conditions focusing more on the upwind drive, preparation into the entrance- everything before the transition. Stay tuned!

      Partly I think it's because it's broken down. Sometimes everything's so fast, it's hard to see what you're supposed to do.

    Superb series of videos that you have put out so far, perfect production style - thanks! Would you mind doing a video that adds a bit more instruction on completing the tack? Lots of detail on starting the tack, driving with the back foot and how to hold the rig to start but would really like to get some help on what happens just at the point of stepping around the mast (what to feel for in the sail to know when it is time to transition) and what to do with the feet (not so much the placement but more what to do to keep driving the board around - without nosediving the board for example). Feels like it all goes wrong just after the transition and could really use some help there.

      Hi Matt, thanks for the message and the positivity- really makes this worth while!
      I stopped where I did in the tack video quite delibertly actually... if you can drive up and through the wind (through the wind being the key bit there) the hard work is done.
      It sounds like your doing the transition a) too early, or b) too slow.
      Watching the clips in the tacking shots I'm well through the wind before I go around the mast- so no need for a big bear away or much further drive needed- we're pretty much on a close reach on the new side as soon as stepping round into the space created but steering so bar pre-transition.
      I'm also not hanging around on the noes either- pass straight through and around to the other side with quick feet (practice this on the land!
      I'll get another video together to show this clearer- but hope that helps a little!

    Hi Cookie, would you please consider doing a "rig set up" session to address the principles of boom height and harness line length variables....I use 32" lines that are attached close together. I have been moving the bottom of my boom clamp around...starting at 48" up to 51" from the bottom of my mast extension. I use a normal Dakine waist harness with about 44" hook height. I am 5'10". The problem is that I stay hooked in or re-hook way too many times. I guess I will try to learn and use your thumb trick .

      Hi MIke,
      I have that exact thing on my "to be filmed" list (which is getting longer and longer from so many great suggestions!).
      Quick thought though... try these videos out, might grab something key in there to help a bit...

      Hi Hamish,
      Thanks for the positivity. I'll have a think about a sail and equipment video. We've got so much brand new RRD kit here at Surf Club Keros it would be a waste not to play with it all! ;-)

    Hi 🙂
    Thank you for your Amazing Chanal !
    Question :
    I'm going to start again windsurf after 25 years whithout... And i ll buy soon a fanatic blast 115....
    My weight is 72 kg . My wish IS to freeride on flat water and sea sweel between 15 to 25/30 knot wind...
    Which size for 4 sails will be right to buy like 4 sails duotone ESpace or super session... ?
    Thanks
    Christophe

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for you comment Christophe.
      A classic dilemma for windsurfers! I aim to have my quiver 0.7-0.8m part with each size. id start with the sail you think you’d use most often and work around from there. This summer I’m in a sort where it looked like 5m would be common- so went 3.7m, 4.5, 5.3, 6.0 and 6.8m.
      Sails now have a large tuning range so 3 or 4 sails is loads!

    When you say to drive off the back foot into the wind, do you mean to use the weight on your back foot to turn the board?

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, drop your weight hard onto the back foot, dig the heels and the board turn up-wind 👍

    Hello, I love your videos. As a beginner, I can easily tack (not that fast) with school equipment (160 to 200 liters), just bought this summer my first gear (BIC techno 2 148 liters and hot sails maui 4.5 cheetah), and I can sail but I fall when tacking. What do you think is better, to try tacking with certain speed, or before tacking decelerate? Thanks from Spain!

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tacking with speed for sure… I’ve just released a new tacking video that’ll help you out!

      I'm in the same boat as you. Learned on big boards then the school sold me the same Bic Techno 2. I've been falling off it ever since and cursing that salesman at the end of every session

    Hi sorry what do you mean when you say put the back foot through the wind? You position the front foot around the mast and the back foot looks positioned in the same place ir was before.

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I mean “push the board through the wind using the back foot”… as in putting pressure through the back foot hard will drive the board through the eye of the wind. 👍👍👍

  • @salsamancer
    @salsamancer 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    What exactly is a "dry tack"? Is that a cheeky way of saying we aren't falling in?

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Haha- yes! A dry-tack is better than a wet one- any tack you stay on the board (whatever the technique) is better than a tack you fall in on - a wet tack!

    Great video...do you prefer or consider this better than the boom to boom tack?....

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Mathew, thanks for the message. 100% prefer this over boom-2-boom. This is widely considered (and taught in all recognised training centres) as how windsurfers should tack. It is taught from beginner to advanced to go to the mast on the entrance rice course good counter-balance, stability and better upwind progression. Try it and let me know what you think!

      Thanks for your reply, I had learnt with one hand on the mast and more recently been practicing the boom to boom method....I love the way you talk about swinging the rig over with the mast hand, this really helps with helping one get round quicker...
      Really enjoying watching and learning from your videos....best wishes, Matthew

    In other words: Bring the board centerline vertically to the wave and then transit.

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Board through the wind… then transition! 👍

  • @222amonra
    @222amonra 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You have to wait more until you sail into the wind. You're moving too early that's why you have to put lot of power.
