I installed "Kaleidoscycle II", a bicycle-wheel themed kinetic sculpture, in the stairwell of my home in 2019. Now, in 2023 I do an extended deep dive discussion of the process and challenges involved in its creation.

Bike nerd here. That's amazing!
I found you searching for info on making a bike wheel with stained glass panels. I think my artist would want spokes she could solder to. Then I found there are aluminum spokes! Maybe they're solderable.

Fun! FYI, Super cheap wheels usually use galvanized steel spokes. Mid & high-end wheels almost always use stainless steel spokes, while a few high end wheels instead use aluminum spokes.
Sometimes they’ll be painted or coated black, but they’re usually still stainless on most wheels
