@Blastroid9 Also, while Starcraft was in early development it was actually intended to be a Warhammer 40K licensed game. The developers eventually lost the rights somehow and the game had to be quickly refitted to be its standalone universe.
The commanders are expected to lead from the front, and are usually found in the thickest of the fighting. So the pistol makes sense, as it still works as a ranged weapon, but can be used in melee as well. The armor does confuse me a bit too, however, but then, most commanders also have an Iron Halo, so maybe that's something to do with it.
The point is that she's predicted the Tyranids coming, not that she can actually see them. The Tyranid in the movie is a Lictor, which is an advance scout sent on months or even years ahead of the main fleet.
i like how dispensible the troops are in this trailer when in the actual game you gotta keep em alive and you can heal each other if one falls also Yay character customisation for youre troops effin sweet
Well, they aren't invincible. In fact, nearly every weapon a space marine got killed by in this clip was designed to kill heavily-armored things. Like the guy below me said, the Banshees use power swords (cuts through armor like tissue paper), and the Warp Spider (which in this clip was an Exarch) had powerblades (same thing as power swords). Then, there was the Ranger who, true to the board game, didn't score a penetrating hit on the Marine's armor. So yeah, it's not really just for show.
@GilbertGanger that's because Space Marines receive heavy training that makes their suits feel like a second skin to them, thus enabling them to move so freely :]
@TamanoBaka Yup. I.e, a certain story I read where a Grey Knight was blasted in the chest by a single bolter round. The Daemonic energy residing within the bolter round cult through the armour and pierced him in the abdomen. Space Marines can take a hell of a pounding, but the truth is they can die from a simple wound to the gut.
Actually, the Bugs in SST were only like that in the movies, which the Tyranids pre-date. Tyranids are basically Xenomorphs(Alien movies) writ VERY large.
internet and skirmish battles have a base in which you spawn your soldiers, campaign you have no base buildings, just spots on the map where you can reinforce the squads.
@Bronzewhaler82 Didn't kill the Space Marine. The Shoulder Plates are designed to take the impact of such weaponry - the blast lightly ricochette'd off of the shoulder. If not, then like all Eldar Weaponry, it cut clean through the ceramite armor and did a number on his arm (Since by Warhammer 40,000 Lore, Eldar Weaponry cuts clean through all known Space Marine armours.)
Cause Eldar snipes are one of the best in the galaxy, talking tabletop - they actually can shoot a terminator with a single shot, with a good dice rolling. As for Banshees, they all armed with "power weapons", and actually ignore any armor at all, exept power shields etc. Warp Spider Exarches armed with power weapons, too (double blades on hands).
Actually commissardamian, there is a daemonhunters race mod. Its called Inquisition Daemonhunt and I gotta say that it kicks ass. There should be a trailer for it on youtube, somewhere.
I remember Warhammer 40k when i was younger since i live a walk away from Warhammer World the home of the people who make the models. Basically Space Marines are the best of the best hand picked and genetically improved from a very young age. Think Master Chief but twice as badass! There so crazy they dont even sleep ever. Tyranids are from another galaxy and basically just take over worlds to strip it of resources then move on and they are all connected by a Hive Mind so they act almost as one.
I think this "power armour" is as useful as Mobile Infantry in the movie Starship Troopers. A seemingly unpowered spear and sword went through the armour like nothing, and the storyline is supposed to run that they, especially terminators, can handle an amount of punishment that would decimate a whole unarmoured squad.
Every Space Marine or Space Marine sargent has a single atom from the emperor's armor in one of their shoulder pads. This single atom gives them a mild disruption field. Hope you find that interesting :)
Totaly amazing! DoW II seems to keep the other parts of W40K realm. But that's nothing bad. I think, Tyriands would be a good choice for that kind of game.
And according to the background SM sergeants have miniature refractor field(a kind of defensive shield) at somewhere around their necks(like the most of the imperial officiers). That's why they don't need the helmets. And perhaps because the sergeant the squad's face.:p He's the personalification of the squad in some sense.
the space marine recieve implants that jack into their suit so the suit is technicaly a second skin for them the heavy training just helps them adjust to this
i notice they still havent quite gotten the hang of the Explosive Bolt round just yet then? :p would love to see some Eldar heads actually exploding ;) but bloody awesome video :D (im assuming this is the intro movie and not a short clip when you defeat the Eldar etc?)
They have powerswords, thay can cut through just about any metal because they generate a matter disrupting field, either that or they put out enough kiljoules of energy to melt any metal. anyways, they also have agility and eons of wisdom on thier side.
There is an old saying - there are no new ideas, only new combination's of old ideas (or something to that effect) and it is true. 'Nids predate Starcraft by several decades, but then they emerged in the late 1980's (Genestealers in Space Hulk), with the first recognisable Warrior appearing in 1990. There are strong design influences from Alien and Aliens (1979 and 1986). The design influence of 'nids clearly takes its lead from the Geiger creatures. The swarm concept is common in nature.
I'm sure it's going to be a great game. Personally I'm hoping for the usual style of conquering province by province. I just hope that when you go for an enemy HQ, they bring back the personalization, you know, where the enemy defiantly insults the specific invading race, like in Dark Crusade. I hope I'm not alone with that :P
I was wondering how the hell this was "Tyranids" since it was just the same trailer as before. But it's cool, so I decided to watch it to the end anyway. SURPRISE! I only wish it had gone on long enough for us to see the Lictor rip that marine to bloody scraps (it's bad enough a mere sergeant could cut down an eldar Farseer with one blow, there's no way he could stand up to a Tyranid Lictor, not in his condition).
Those banshee at the beginning when they are charging remind me of Sir lancealot from 'The Holy grail' lol. Also where does the dread go when the lictor jumps the captain?
16 ปีที่แล้ว
They STILL can't get the voices right! They sound too metallic, even without their helmets-the Eldar witch's voice was spot on tho. And racing into single combat with the carnifex/lictor...????? As Erril13 said..."You're fucked!"
That's true. Like I said, I don't know why they dispose of their helmets. Don't have much else to suggest there. The pistol however, I maintain my original point. It's enough of a ranged weapon to use while closing for an assault, and does the job in melee too. Yes, it has half the range of the bolter, but the bolter loses half that range while moving, and while rapid firing, and is of no use in melee, so my point stands. Though personally my Devastator sergeants at least stick with a bolter.
You missed Eldar :P Besides, space marines dont have visor screens that plop down, nor do they hav a cigar in their mouth. Nor do their armour get constructed so badassly XD
The finest of humanity's warriors, people who have 20 implanted organs, can spit acid, are bulletproof and encased into the finest body armor ever made... slaughtered by a bunch of elves with swords. Not even chainswords. At least the dreadnought kicks ass.
The local gameshop around where I live has a dedicated 40k night. That's the day where everybody goes in and plays 40k. And since little kids don't play 40k (I've seen one try, because his dad plays, but he's given up), you shouldn't have that problem. Sure a few kids might show up for like booster packs or some such, but I'm never bothered by them. If your gameshop doesn't have a 40k meet night, then yeah, Milkymalk's idea is better.
The one thing that doesn't make sense is that according to the movie marines rules, a single space marine can match a hive tyrant. So why is it that a space marine got owned by a lictor?
mmmm, crispy eldar, my favourite. seriously though, if this game is anything like this trailer (which i sooooooo hope it is) its gonna be intense! cant wait!
You may only run once per turn, to the exclusions of all other actions in 5th ed, apparently. I was told about the 23" assault rule, but I have no idea how it works either.
I wonder if epic, games workshop and thq will think about making a shooter about this... it would be really awesome, imagine fighting a carnifex with your plasma rifle :D on first person!
the force commander was probably thinking, "man, i just killed those guys, got blasted w/ lightning and now i have to go up against this thing?! *picks up chainsword* fine. . . *grumble, grumble* AAAARRRGGGGGHHHH!!!! you die for making me do more work!!!
@PhantomTrigger I have to agree with you. W40K and SC are both great games in their own right. Sure, I may prefer SC over DoW, but, thats my personal opinion, though. Yes, W40K came first and SC took some of their ideas, but why fuss over that? Its actually good that someone understood their ideas and reused it for another series, which, I guess in a sense, leaves W40K with a legacy that extended to SC.
gotta love the chainsword, any game with something called the eviscerator is bound to be cool, they also should of put da orkz in this vid, then it would be more flash and have more dakka
Just as the armour of the future is a lot more powerful, so are the weapons that are designed to penetrate it. If a Space Marine appeared in front of a modern day, heavily armed SEAL or SAS team, I severely doubt he would get more than a couple of minor injuries, if even that.
hmm but i think that the tabletop game shows more characteristics of the races then the video game... i think those balance issues r found in the game as well and many aspects rnt even touched... like camouflage of a ranger but in the tabletop u can see every ability and its reflected on the battlefield quite realistic...
My only gripe is that space marines wouldn't be ambushed so easily, at least not so much. and they wouldnt knowingly walk into a trap with the tactical info from their fallen battle brothers voxes and system links.
why has there stil not been anything put down for a warhammer 40k movie? If needs be do a trilogy of movies like LOTR all about the Horus Heresy!! To say it would rock would be an understatement.
It's the Blood Ravens, not Blood Angels, and the chapter was created specifically for the purpose of the Dawn Of War games, so they'd probably feel a little silly if they suddenly stopped using them

The dreadnaught scene is still badass four years later =P

Very impressive how they manage to bring the 40k universe to life. Cool trailer.
Man the dreadnought just ate those banshees like snaks. Dreadnoughts are the most awesome space marines out there. Well, used to be space marines.
The point is that she's predicted the Tyranids coming, not that she can actually see them. The Tyranid in the movie is a Lictor, which is an advance scout sent on months or even years ahead of the main fleet.
i like how dispensible the troops are in this trailer when in the actual game you gotta keep em alive and you can heal each other if one falls also Yay character customisation for youre troops effin sweet
i don't care how many times i see this, this is SO DAMN epic!
Well, they aren't invincible. In fact, nearly every weapon a space marine got killed by in this clip was designed to kill heavily-armored things. gotta love the ending.. sergeant's out-sized, injured and he lost his other weapon but charges head on at the lictor anyway.. :D
@GilbertGanger that's because Space Marines receive heavy training that makes their suits feel like a second skin to them, thus enabling them to move so freely :]
I love the look on the space marines face as 0:46, priceless.
@TamanoBaka Yup. I.e, a certain story I read where a Grey Knight was blasted in the chest by a single bolter round. The Daemonic energy residing within the bolter round cult through the armour and pierced him in the abdomen.

my favorite RTS game... so unique and vivid
they all fight like the ultimate soldier....win or die trying....admirable.
My god this is beautiful. So much hype about this game, i just hope to god relic keeps up the good work.
Cause Eldar snipes are one of the best in the galaxy, talking tabletop - they actually can shoot a terminator with a single shot, with a good dice rolling.

@MegaWatcherofvideos
The complete video is played at the end credits of the game once you complete the campaign
Tyranids are the most awesome enemies to every race in Warhammer 40k, they are public enemy number 1. That was a Lictor, a stealth unit.
The Space marines were awesome, but I still wanted to hold that dying Eldar woman and comfort her in her last moments. She looked so beautiful...
Gotta love the iron sight on the bolter :P
This is what war between two intelligent species would actually be like. You can really see the hatred and intensity when they fight here.

Just got a batch of these guys :D
Since I already have Tyranids, I'm going to build a Space Marine army and recreate this :D
Who hasen't watched this video 100 times? I love it.
Man i cant wait to see the Tyranids vs the necrons :D
Totaly amazing!
DoW II seems to keep the other parts of W40K realm. But that's nothing bad.
I think, Tyriands would be a good choice for that kind of game.
if you look closely... it´s not the dreadnought. its a storm-trooper landing right behind the eldar.
And according to the background SM sergeants have miniature refractor field(a kind of defensive shield) at somewhere around their necks(like the most of the imperial officiers). That's why they don't need the helmets. And perhaps because the sergeant the squad's face.:p
He's the personalification of the squad in some sense.
the space marine recieve implants that jack into their suit
so the suit is technicaly a second skin for them
the heavy training just helps them adjust to this
It's a little known fact that the pauldron IS the most vital of all space marine organs. That's why the buggers all have them.
I'm pretty sure that all the previous races wil be available, at least that's what I've heard
"The emperor rules all
traitor. eat bolter fire scum..."
Chaos is cool to play with i like the fact that you can over whelm with numbers.
i notice they still havent quite gotten the hang of the Explosive Bolt round just yet then? :p would love to see some Eldar heads actually exploding ;)
but bloody awesome video :D (im assuming this is the intro movie and not a short clip when you defeat the Eldar etc?)

yep seeing nurgle stuff would be sweet, but a lot of stuff is missing in DOW, I really miss my favorite aspect warriors: scorpions.
I'm sure it's going to be a great game. Personally I'm hoping for the usual style of conquering province by province. I just hope that when you go for an enemy HQ, they bring back the personalization, you know, where the enemy defiantly insults the specific invading race, like in Dark Crusade. The grammar and logic in that post exceeded a youtube comment's capacity by about 10x
the shoulder pads and overall armor makes it look like the heads small
That Space Marine Sgt is so the lead singer of Spandau Ballet
I was wondering how the hell this was "Tyranids" since it was just the same trailer as before. But it's cool, so I decided to watch it to the end anyway. SURPRISE! BOOM, HEADSHOT! Funny stuff.
Still, the warp spider walked into it.
Those banshee at the beginning when they are charging remind me of Sir lancealot from 'The Holy grail' lol.

yes finally tyranids, god i love them. I use them in the actual tabletop version of warhammer 40,000
You missed Eldar :P

At least the dreadnought kicks ass.
I never get tired of that... "I HAVE COME TO DESTROY YOU!" then lights the banshee face on fire... lol her hair dissapears hahahahahahahaha!!!
Its power armor plus they have geneseeds which make them stronger/better than regular humies.
they're meant to be physically perfect. all of them are beautiful.
I always found the dreadnoughts quotes to be humourous :)
That wasn't a Farseer, that was a witch. And Space Marines are renown for their durability and resilience. Know your shit.
The local gameshop around where I live has a dedicated 40k night. That's the day where everybody goes in and plays 40k. I wonder if they are planning on realeasing an expansion pack soon, I can´t wait to play as the Imperial Guard or Necrons D:
You may only run once per turn, to the exclusions of all other actions in 5th ed, apparently.
I was told about the 23" assault rule, but I have no idea how it works either.
wow best video game trailer i've seen
@Blastroid9 starcraft cmae form the warhammer 40k miniatures dawn of war was a mixture of sc2 and the war 40k min

Brother in-Law say "I will play that game for 600 year if tyranids come out" Yes it is that good
Can't wait!
gotta love the chainsword, any game with something called the eviscerator is bound to be cool, they also should of put da orkz in this vid, then it would be more flash and have more dakka
i hope that the Necrons have a good fight with the eldar and Tyarid (if thats who you spell it) whoooooo Necrons! i can't wait for this game

I HAVE COME TO DESTROY YOU
(Burns banshee)
It's the Blood Ravens, not Blood Angels, and the chapter was created specifically for the purpose of the Dawn Of War games, so they'd probably feel a little silly if they suddenly stopped using them
What eldar unit killed the space marine that was holding the heavy bolter?
he must have painicked a little..or perharps the sniper scope moves a little..
Im sure Chaos, Necrons, Dark Eldar, Tau and Imperial Guard will also be in the game. (SoB too but i really dont care about them =P)
I think if DoW 1 engine could have supported it, Tyrs would have been put in with winter assault.
on the description of this video
there are links
one link to the tyranid gameplayvideo in high definition!
the second is the long cgi also in HD
Have fun
They really should make a movie :) !
EMPORER be with him, his faith in sigmar will lead him to glorious victory
Heavy bolter guy: EAT LEAD SNIPER!
Sniper: *shoots assault SM* Shit! missed >.>
AGH!
*dead*
HB: AGHH! *SHOOTS*
Warp spider: cant touch this (plays Mchammer Music in head)
*appears at the back of SM*
STOP! *shoots*
HAMMER TIME!*STABS*
Hmm I see. I'm just used to powered weapons having something to signify that they are in fact powered. Every single melee weapon cut through the armour like it was not there. Same thing with orcs having regular choppas (axes) in the first CG vid chopping a leg and the armour off like it wasn't there. Granted they're disgustingly strong but still.
Are you talking about tabletop or DoW? For tabletop I agree, I have seen so awesome eldar armies and some great tacticians but in DoW I dont think I have EVER seen an eldar player win...my personal experience.
That wasn't a force commander, it was a sergeant.
is it me or is that a Necron relic behind the eldar Farseer after she lights up,or something else?
Eldar Witch: No, it is theirs
Tyranid Lictor: OMOMONMOMNOMNOMNONNOMNMONMONMNOMNONMONM
what? all i say is right, it's from 40k fluff:
conventional space marines have additionnal organ, theirs thorax's bones are like an armor and they have 2 hearts (or most of them have), because they're genetically modified
Some chapters have more, like those from the cursed 13th foundation (it's in "white dwarf")
P.S> i already knew it was a SPECULATION article i also never stated it was going to be OFFICIAL so if it is going to be on console well then it is we will just have to wait until the very day that it comes out even then if it doesn't i won't shed a tear =)
TYRANIDS FTW!!!
It's about time they got into DoW... -.-
It's an rts :D. It's the way the first Dawn of War series was suppose to be, but now they have a better graphic system. They are making a 3rd person Space Marine game though : /.
Awesome opening.
