What does the Wessex Jazz Tuba sound like?
We released a video on our Tornister tuba a few weeks ago, and almost instantly had a whirlwind of requests for a video on it's big brother: the Wessex Jazz Tuba!
Well, while we had Will Druiett at the Wessex Warehouse to demo our Tornister tuba last month, we also got him to do a video and a cheeky playtest of our Jazz tuba! As always: he also was able to offer his feedback on the instruments :)
In this video, Will provides us with a brief performance on the Jazz Tuba, and like our last video on the Tornister tuba: he provides us with a jazzy improvisation suited to the style and sound of this beautiful little instrument. The performance was recorded using an Aston Spirit Microphone, and a Scarlett Focusrite interface, to ensure we were able to capture the true tones of the Wessex Jazz Tuba.
While we do have a handful of videos already recorded and ready for release, we are always looking to the future and are curious to know what people want to see next.

Well… leave it to the Wessex team to come out with yet another awesome horn! I purchased a slightly used Tornister travel tuba 2 years ago to use specifically as a jazz oriented instrument (in C) I LOVE it but having the bell straight up and so close to my ear always takes me a minute or two to get used to. SO… once again kudos and congratulations on yet another marvelous addition to the Wessex tuba line up!
Question… in addition to B flat will this Jazz tuba also be 7:00 offered in C?

The peculiarity of a mini-tube is that the exhalation into such an instrument should be slow but constant. You can't blow into a 1/4 tube like into a 4/4 size. Otherwise it sounds very rough.
