*What I **_really_** hate about programs like this is their use of cherry picked statistics. While they mention the 2% rise in GDP for every 1% increase in immigration (legal btw, illegal is inverted), they deliberately fail to mention the other side of the equation, which is this: for every 1% increase in population via immigration, there is a 1.8% **_decrease_** in base wages nationwide. That's essentially a 1.8% "tax" on the poorest people here, and that "tax" goes directly to the corporations hiring these immigrants (legal OR illegal), without it ever making a rest stop in the federal economy. It's a direct wealth transfer, and is the #1 cause of income inequality - yet the left wants open borders, with an estimated 22% increase in immigration population the very first yer - that's a direct tax of just under 40% being levied on the bottom 20% of earners every year. That's not just crazy, it's a recipe for revolution.*

Agreed. In the early 1970s the price of an average house was four times the annual wage. Now thanks to population increase, most of which is immigration, the demand for housing has pushed up the cost of an average house to 9 or 10 times the average wage.
Any increase in GDP isn't due to immigration anyway. It is due to China's demand for iron ore, coal and bauxite. Immigrants dilute our wealth.

In the book Melting pot or Civil War the author points out the vast difference between immigrants from their home countries demographics such as the vast majority (~95%) of immigrants from India to the US come from the top caste whereas in their home countries they don't make up more than 10% of the population. They end up assimilating very well into the American system and culture.
A larger portion of the Mexican and Central American immigration is uneducated and assimilates to a lower class culture that largely sits outside of the prosperity they see as a promise of the American system.

The old 'ageing population' scare! In the 1960s it was common for families to have three or more children and for their mothers to stay home and provide domestic services for all the other members of the family. So the ratio of worker/taxpayer to dependents was 1:4 or more.
In the 1970s, women stopped having so many children and became worker/taxpayers themselves, resulting in an unnaturally high worker:dependent ratio, because a high proportion of the population was still of working age. Now that we have fewer child dependents, why the fuss about a high proportion of elderly dependants?
It is just a matter of supporting older people instead of babies, who are extremely dependent until they are 8 years old. By contrast, many retired people are self-supporting and make it possible for their daughters to be taxpayers.

Nice video and it will take me sometime to sort through it. Have you looked into the meat processing plants as to who they hire and in what percentage. I have had the opportunity to see these workers entering the plant on a work shift. The majority are Latino based on the language heard as they reported for work. Now who worked the plants prior, most likely the locals who lived in the community. Why did they stop working? As a business you want to lower costs, and labor(payroll) is a major part of their operations. How do you help control that cost, you hire those who will work long, hard hours for significantly less money. What happens to those who are now unemployed, they find other work or move to wherever they can find jobs. Let me know when you update your information, research these packing plants, find out where those low wage workers are living and how.

Fast forward to what’s happening now. Americans are quitting these jobs u speak of. They are demanding more and those jobs are now vacant and they cant find anyone to fill them and that makes things go up in price and costs companies money etc etc etc
The overall point is Americans proved immigrants are not taking their jobs immigrants are taking the jobs no American wants to do. The shortage of employees right now would be solved by immigrants. That would help things not be so expensive right now. Without immigrants working and paying money into the system things will only get worse cz wether u think about it or not immigrants even illegal ones pay lots of money into the system that in turn funds all types of things that we all benefit from every day.

Supply and demand is a simple economic concept. Lots of low skilled poor people (the majority of our current immigrants) makes for low wages. In addition the environment suffers as the US population is the most consumptive and has the highest emissions per capita on earth. High skilled educated immigrants may be a benefit , but they are a small number of the total who are mostly uneducated and unskilled. AFA taxes go, the numbers are dishonest. A kid born to illegals is a citizen so the eduction and welfare costs of all those kids, >300,000/years are not counted.

But, if you will to equate in dollars and sense, the money remitted will not come back. Instead, the foreign countries where the migrants come from got everything to benefit. I would like to see CNBC do a piece on why America actually need immigrants 2 work in America and some of the things I have noticed is a lack of affordable housing in some of the areas where the jobs are whether they are service related jobs hospitality or manufacturing the average American cannot live in the areas where some of these jobs are located. However immigrants don't have this problem because the immigrant will relocate to a neighborhood or an area move into a home or apartment with multiple friends or family members that is centrally located near the jobs they plan to work. look at corporate America corporate America's hub for employment is located mostly in cities downtown areas and what they are doing is building condos and apartments in or near downtown areas or redeveloping entire communities right outside the downtown area so they would no longer have to commute in order to get to work. The average worker is not able to afford a home in certain areas and zoning laws prevent affordable housing or low income housing to be built in those communities and this is one of the main drivers of job shortages in some areas it would be funny if it wasn't sad but the fact that certain homeowners don't want multifamily housing in their communities because they are afraid that the price of their homes will go down are actually fueling labor shortages in America.
