You are a great teacher, Sir. Accent on the third. Simple instruction but important. It brings out the whole vibe of the song.

I concur. You are a fantastic teacher. This is a very foreign instrument to me, I’ve been playing bass for 30 years, guitar as well and this is totally backwards. Thanks for making it much easier.

It's my second day of playing mandolin and I couldn't get my head around the strings at first either, until someone told me this....
Think of the strings of a bass guitar but upside down. E A D G. That's the tuning of a mandolin. G D A E. An upside down bass or upside down top 4 strings of a guitar.

I learned a passable version of this song, then I saw Steve playing it on Letterman and realized he was playing it a little different. This sounds and looks exactly like he played it. Thanks, it was enough to make me subscribe.

Nice little lesson. I always wanted to get a mandolin, but I am left handed, and I am not too sure they make them.

I'm Left handed too , I just learn to play right handed caules I figured I'd use my strong hand for the difficult stuff and my right hand for the picking stuff and it worked out better for me . . . but you can string up any teardrop shape Mandolin the other way round to play left handed style . . . Hope this helps . thanks for watching the video CHEERS😁
