1:34:44 Marc, this is possible with conditions. Conditions can be used on any element like buttons to show or hide it based on dynamic data.
I would not call global blocks components, however, because you create instances of components. You do not create interdependent instances of global blocks. You can duplicate global blocks, but they are then completely detached and not linked to any main-component. Global blocks in Breakdance are rather sections or elements that are stored globally to use them in several places on different sites or elements like in the Post-Loop-Builder.
In Oxygen it would be comparable to the Re-Usable-Parts in "Templates" or in WPBakery Page Builder with the Templates you create using the Templatera plugin.

1:25:07 Matty, presets in Breakdance are like element-bound (design presets) or purpose-bound variants of regular classes (typography presets) that are specialized in terms of the possible CSS declarations within a preset and the intended use. In principle, they are just sort of a specialized class.
Here are some differences between classes and Presets within Breakdance:
Depending on the element, only the Design-Presets available for this element type are displayed in the select field. This means that you don't have an extremely large number of classes and auxiliary classes listed that you might not need for the current element. It provides clarity in the selection process by only displaying relevant presets.
Design-Presets therefore refer to the properties of a specific element type. A class could be assigned to different elements.
You can also only select one Design-Preset for an element at a time and not assign as many as you can with classes.

My previous comment disappeared, but I just wanted to say another outstanding stream guys. I loved seeing Breakdance and GenerateBlocks in action. I'm learning a ton from these streams and find the long-form, conversational nuanced dialogue very beneficial. Thank you so much for doing this.

Thanks Jeff! We aim to please :-) I gotta say, too, that it feels like we're finding our groove. With Kevin and Brian, I felt like I was missing half of what they were doing, but this time I was able to follow Jonathan's and Ruben's building more closely. It might also be because we had less action in the live chat this time, plus we now have Brendan on the team so more people to keep an eye on the chat.

Also, why is it that TH-cam keeps deleting (or simply not posting) comments? Happened to me before, happened to conversation partners of mine and now you mention it as well. So weird.

@@mr.matt.eastwood no clue, it’s happening to me on other channels too. Maybe it’s because I referenced the breakdance website (I used to post on the b-boy forums back in the day when it was still a breakdancing site). Crazy how a Wordpress builder now owns the domain.

@@bob-p7x6j So annoying. One thing I discovered yesterday is that if you click on "Sort by" at the top of all comments and select "Newest first", it actually un-hides a bunch of comments that simply won't show if you have the default "Top comments" selected. I'd say that's a loose f#cking interpretation of the word "Sort", but what do I know. After all, I'm not a native English speaker 😀 lol

2:11:56 Typography presets do not contain any information on color specifications. You would create a design preset for this.

Great. There is navite support for SVG in Breakdance. No need for a plugin for that :)

Such a great thing to have. I get that SVGs are disabled iN WP by default because security, but for those of us who know what we're doing, it's a blessing to have a builder that allows SVGs out of the box.

Just got to the end of the three hours. One of the biggest takeaways for me in this discussion was the concern each person with their own builder has had, depending on said builders sticking around for the long term. It’s fundamentally where Wordpress core has let us down by not providing a solid common framework where everything is marked up correctly and semantically in the right way.
It should be the case that any builder can come along and work with the HTML that was written by another builder or what was put together by the core block editor. This would open the way for better interoperability between all tools, lesson the anxiety and remove the so called tribalism somewhat.

I think one glazed over factor to a page builder discussion, is that 95% of clients don't care what you use as long as it is fast, has great google speed scores, and is easy to use. It's a never ending circle jerk for devs that doesn't matter on most sites.
I've used a lot of builders and BD is pretty damn solid and easy to use. Green scores for performance, accessibility, SEO, and best practices, while having video elements, acf, and GSAP.

I disagree, the idea of using greenshift or breakdance for gsap stands like a dumbed down version of using page builders .... Bricks is quite ahead in that regards ...
For me the yardstick in decision making is simple.
      1. For starter to intermediate dynamic sites with not much of conditional usage and animations. GP GB combo is the best without a doubt
      2. But if you need a site you are building for serious business and need to build dynamic websites quickly...bricks is a no brainer...

@@curefilms perfect example of the dev circle jerk.
It’s like paying someone to mow your lawn. Do you think the homeowner cares if the landscaper cuts the grass with a John Deere or a Honda mower? They don’t give two sh*ts as long as the grass is cut and looks nice.
Same for a car. Do you care if a mechanic uses Milwaukee or Dewalt tools to fix your car?
Look how many successful businesses have Webflow or Wix sites. Do you honestly think the vast majority of the audience cares as long as the site functions, looks good, is quick, and easy to use?

So, now that the cat is out of the bag, I had to return as Claude 3.5 with its Artifacts feature, even the most skeptical about AI should realize how AI will soon render web designers obsolete. Perhaps not at the project management and detailed level right away, but definitely at the code implementation and design refinement level!
