Since moving up north, and finally getting a kayak, jerk bait fishing has jumped right up to my favorite technique. Frog fishing the skankiest mats will always be my deepest love, but that jerk bait bite is pretty damn fun.

Great tips...just a week ago, every single jerkbait fish I caught had one point of the rear treble in its mouth. I'm definitely using the split ring trick next time that happens.

I was watching a guy from west virginia making worms, creature and swim baits and he really had some cool looking baits,its a interesting process,he even did some wonder bread style swim baits that really looked good, the bass might think so too or maybe not but it would be fun to try out

i use paint markers on my hardbaits. red like you there, sometines chartreuse or black for accents.
