I was there live during this reaction, and I did try to explain the clear in real time but it's really tough doing that. So, in this comment, I want to share about the small details.
- As I've stated in the chat, the opening is really tight on the timings. If the deployments are too late, I lose. If the skill timings aren't fast enough, I lose. It's not frame-perfect demanding but I need to be really fast on the inputs in order to have Specter deployed on time.
- 1:30 as soon as I activate Myrtle's skill again, activate Cliffheart's skill. The dog to the right of Specter just zooms it to the blue box when she goes to doll form. So, I need to pre-emptively use Cliffheart's skill to catch the 2 dogs. With these set of tags, the dogs do just get killed from Specter's doll but not when she JUST went into doll form. There's a little window of time that's required before the doll aura actually activates from death
- 1:43 The MICRO-HEALING from Lancet-2 + Myrtle's E2 talent makes it so that Fang can live just a bit longer to conclude the opening setup. At this point, this is Myrtle's 3rd skill activation, after which I will have enough DP to deploy Penance. Fang needs to live a little bit longer for 2 things. 1 of which is to outlast Myrtle's skill, the other is to bunch 2 of those Guerilla Fighter enemies. When the above requirements are met, retreat Fang, Lancet, and Myrtle. I'll have more than enough DP to deploy Penance. Now, I wait just a little for the 2 bunched enemies to be in range of the altar. This helps Penance to not get overrun as easily as those 2 enemies will eventually die to the altar and Penance's shield.
- 2:02 This Cliffheart pull is timed perfectly for Pudding's chain attack to hit the claw guy as she targets the swordsman. Not really necessary but any amount of dmg for the big guys is good. You don't want too many enemies grouped near the blue box. This strategy really hinges on you killing enemies fast enough because Cliffheart's pull targets at most 3 enemies.
- 2:10 The reason why I'm not activating Penance skill immediately is because her skill timings are to deal with invisible casters. The casters are the biggest threat for the right side. Due to this Penance skill timing, 2 enemies are going to leak through. The first leak is dealt with FEater pushing them through the blue box. However, this isn't the only purpose of this FEater deploy. She's there to aggro tank 2 mortar shots (really important for Penance's survival later on).
- 2:23 2nd leak. THRM-EX is deployed as soon as the leaking enemy is making a right angle turn through Penance. The deploy timing is important because this would apply fragile to the enemy but also to aggro tank a mortar shot (really important for Penance's survival later on).
- 2:30 When the leaking enemy is on the tile that THRM-EX was on, activate Penance skill. This timing if perfect to handle the first invisible caster. The fragile effect + pudding chain attack + altar is enough to prevent this leak. Can now use Cliffheart's pull when I see pudding attack. Don't need the claw guy that close to the blue box anymore.
- 2:50 First invisible caster. Penance skill is still on. Use Yato to push the Caster into range (deploy when you see the caster's sprite overlay over Yato's), immediately retreat Yato after deploy, and then Penance will 1 shot bonk the caster.
- 3:17 Fang splitbox to buy a bit more time for Cliffheart's pull
- 3:21 As soon as I see the dog running pass the claw guy, use Cliffheart's skill. I want to pull the dog and the 2 avengers. Mis-timing would have the dog leak and lose. If timing is too late, 1 avenger will leak. So, this pull is really tight timing and determines how tight the subsequent pulls are. After this pull just use Cliffheart's and Pudding's skill whenever it's ready. Really need to kill the big enemies and not have them clumped with dogs coming in as well.
- 3:48 there's a cut in this video but the next Penance skill timing is when I see a dog on the top left enter into the altar range. This is perfectly timed to deal with the last invisible caster and all the other remaining enemies on the right side as well. Also, remember those mortar shots that FEater and THRM-EX aggro tanked earlier? Well, this Penance skill timing wouldn't be possible without it. She is very very close to dying here but can survive long enough due to not tanking those earlier mortar shots.
- 4:09 Same thing as I did in 2:50 Yato reveal and then Penance Bonk. Deploy FEater as soon as Yato is retreated. Retreat Penance as soon as the caster is dead. There are no more enemies going to the right side. Now need to set up for the boss.
- 4:20 these deployments are to buy time for FEater's and Cliffheart's skills. If I ever needed to use these deployments earlier in the clear, then that means I messed up with a Cliffheart timing from earlier.
- 6:00 Really good angle for Cliffheart pull. Pulls the boss and Specter pushes him to the bottom of that tile. Also, good checkpoint, the boss used his charge skill twice in the same tile. The Cliffheart pulls doesn't need to be perfect during the boss stall but if I ever mess up with the timings, I have plenty of DP and deployments to stall out and re-arrange the timings.
- 6:30 Around the point where phase 1 has about 2 cliffheart pulls left, I am considering to stall out the boss a little to buy time and build up Specter's skill and proceed to phase 2.
- 6:46 as long as phase 1 dies before crossing the halfway point of the tile below the blue box, then we're good. If he's above that point during phase 2 transition, then the run is over and need to restart. If I see him approaching over that point, then I can use 1 deployment to push him back down to the bottom of that tile and kill with Cliffheart's skill.
- 6:57 at this point, he's already oriented towards the left of the tile due to Cliffheart's pulls. Shouldn't be too difficult to push him to Specter's tile. Just make sure that on the last deployment, to wait until he's about to enter the halfway point of the tile. That gives a good angle to push him to the left. By that point, if the stall is timed well, Specter's skill should be ready. Also, be careful with the deployments and retreats. Penance is the most expensive unit here and if you let too many units die then DP will be an issue.
- The deployments and Specter's skill should be more than enough to outlast the 20 second invincibility.
- 8:19 Now I just repeat what I did in Phase 1 and that should be the clear.
I'm not sure if the clear really did take me 30 hours, it's just a rough estimate. I was in the middle of a busy work week when week 2 of the event started. So, I only really had 3 days before I started attempting a 2x6 clear for the main CC stage. I was spending 10+ hours each day, hence the rough estimate of ~30 hours.
It originally started as Risk 31 attempts and then I went down every time it felt impossible to progress in the stage. Eventually hit Risk 28 attempts and that was when it felt kind of possible to get the clear.
When I was first coming up with the strategy. My flagbearer and pusher were Elysium and Shaw. The strat was going well until the boss was at the blue box. There was no good place to put Shaw and she would just die to an altar eventually.
The unlisted video of what the strategy originally was: th-cam.com/video/lF5yPZh672I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uakg8phzkDxVnRUc
After this attempt, I started building my own FEater and asking around in several discord servers if they have a s2m3 FEater (I even asked people from AKO... Uhh). After successfully friending someone with FEater, I achieved R26 quite easily. Then, I got R28 without the red tag. Just needed to throw bodies for the invincibility. The clear still felt 'incomplete', so I wanted to get the clear with red tag. Without it, the boss just feels really easy (still is easy even with red tag but got me to think a little for a solution).
Anyways, I'm pretty proud of this clear and I feel like I pushed the full potential of the squad I brought. Can probably get a higher risk in 2x6 with a different strategy but will never know because the event is over, and CC (in the old format) is over.
