I remember seeing The Empire Strikes Back at the Cross Creek Mall when I was in ninth grade at E. E. Smith High School in Fayetteville, N.C.

Robert Duvall was a superior Lee in my opinion...

Sheen was horrible as Lee, he ruined every scene he was in, otherwise a great movie

Some people loved Sheen's performance, but he was miscast. Lee was a killer, and Sheen did not convey that.

We might agree with you on some of that! Personally, I think he is stronger at the beginning of the film but seems to deteriorate in front of our eyes as the film progresses. Interesting to speculate what the movie would have been like with a "stronger" Lee, although we often note that the "sick" Lee is more consistent with his portrayal in the novel.

The movie Gettysburg is a work of historical fiction that unfortunately frames most Americans' understanding of the battle and the Civil War. Much of the dialogue is apocryphal, it never happened. While the movie is entertaining and could be the reason some people become Civil War enthusiasts, it is a fairly poor piece of history.
