Sometimes...more than sometimes...with Dolly, there just are no words left...you just have to breathe her gift into your soul...slow and rythemically...just breathe it in... and expell the breath of thanksgiving...for this amazing woman who has given so much to share with us the very best of the talents in life that she has been blessed with.

She has the sexiest leather outfit here. I wish it was possible to see the whole performance without interruption.

    Some thoughts on this:
It’s edited in such a way that the songs are interrupted by newsreel footage of events from that era. I see how they’re trying to show context, but as someone who just wants to hear the songs, this is jarring.
Also, I was surprised they showed so many political clips as Dolly goes out of her way to be as apolitical as she can.
My favorites are the duets with Raul Malo and David Hildalgo. Walkin On Sunshine feels out of place cause the rest of the songs are 60s-70’s songs about love and peace. The reflection in the piano at the end in For The Good Times is beautiful. She looks like a Golden Era Hollywood star.
Left out of this is the song she did with John Popper, which is a favorite from the Treasures collection. Dolly’s voice sounds great but the production is too bland for this to stand out or be remembered. Country radio had already left her at this point.
I feel like Rockstar is a similar album to Treasures, but whereas Treasure didn’t really succeed, Rockstar does. So it’s interesting how she took the same concept, learned from it, improved on it - and now we have the highest charting album of her entire career Rockstar !
