Very excited to be covering this song at long last... When I was first starting to take practicing singing seriously in the beginning of 2016 I probably sang the chorus of this song a thousand times.. I've made a lot of progress with my voice since then and plan on continuing to improve :) Eventually I'll be showcasing some other parts of my voice, but I just want to make sure it's good enough first :)
I think Doomed is about an apathetic and suicidal person finding the light again. 1. In the first part, "Cut off my wings and come lock me up Just pull the plug yeah, I've had enough Tear me to pieces, sell me for parts You're all vampires so here You can have my heart" it feels like the guy is so tired of life that he doesn't even care anymore. He's dead inside. "Tear me to pieces, sell me for parts", is like he is so depressed that it wouldn't matter, he just doesn't care. He just wants to die. 2. And then there's the second part: "The walls are a funeral, I run with ghosts No hint of movement, no sign of pulse" Well, in the way i see it, it's about depression. It's like the guy doesn't feel the people arround him anymore, they're all ghosts arround him. 3. "So come rain on my parade 'Cause I want to feel it So come rain on my parade I think we're doomed I think we're doomed And there is no way back" He wants so bad to feel anything - anything at all - again. He's tired of being apathetic, of not being really alive. "So come rain on my parade I think we're doomed, i think we're doomed" So what I think Oli is trying to say here is that we're all condemned to feel like this at some point in our lives like There's always going to be a sad moment but that is necessary for our growth.
