- Watch Captain Nevin Darwish from Egypt and First Officer Alia Al Muhairi from the UAE fly the iconic Emirates Airbus A380 from Dubai to Vienna for International Women's Day. Captain Darwish is the first woman of Arab origin to have captained the Airbus A380. First Officer Al Muhairi, a UAE national, is currently the youngest Emirati female pilot operating the Emirates A380 aircraft.
I am a pilot & I know what it takes to be one. A lot of respect for these female pilots, not just because they got their pilot license. I respect them because they have struggled more than a male pilot to be where they are. I know sometimes families don't support and most of the times people with hate towards them discourage them. Hats off girls, you flew great in strong headwinds of your life.

I always find it really cool when a woman pilot is the captain or first officer when I am flying because the number of female vs male pilots is very low, so I consider it very special! Watching this video brought tears to my eyes from pride! I wanted to fly jets so badly it hurt. I was told that women didn’t fly fighter jets by a recruiter. (We are talking SEVERAL years ago!) I know this isn’t a fighter jet but it’s still a jet! I am so proud of both of you! You are amazing! Stay strong and fly safe ladies!!

driving a car is more difficult than flying an aircraft.It just looks difficult because its huge and transporting 400 passangers but actually nowdays aircraft fly byitself.With a car you constantly have to look around, shifting gear turn the stearing whiel etc. In airplanes pilots are playing rock papper scissors

It's sickening to be reading comments which condemn these two inspirational role models for a career they've undoubtedly worked excessively hard for. I personally hope to fly for Emirates when the time comes (although I hastily admit I'd prefer the 777 over the A380) and couldn't be more proud of the airline. Female pilots are becoming common in the flight deck of modern aircraft and it's fantastic! I for one appluad this video, and more importantly, to the pilots in it.

I have been in love with aviation my entire life of 66 years. Though it's far to late for me, I have nothing but admiration for these women and their devoted skills to their craft as pilots. I would be thrilled to board a plane and be greeted by a lady with 4 stripes on her shoulders with a big smile and would feel totally safe with her and her girl copilot in the right seat. Keith L.

I flew with Captain Darwish 2 weeks ago from Dubai to San Francisco and I was the last person to leave the plane and she was finishing her paperwork in the front of the plane. I congratulated her and told her that she makes all Egyptians proud.
