I do like this ring Denise. I also like your wonderful tutorial, clearly stated, clear view to see your work, simple, explanations, pleasant voice. This is my next project. You will be one of my "go to" teachers. Thank you for selflessly sharing. kimberly queens, ny
Hi Sandra, Thanks for your question. Hammering is done for 2 reasons, 1 it is done to wire harden a piece, it's easier to work with wire that's dead soft, or very malleable but when you are making rings and certain pieces that need to hold their shape then hammering is helpful to stiffen the piece. So for instance hammering a ring on the mandrel after it is finished hardens the wire and also ensures that it is a perfect circle to fit your finger. Another reason to hammer is to add texture and dimension to a piece and give it a more rustic appearance, that kind of hammering can be just for the appearance of the piece rather than functionality. If you don't like hammering rings or pieces that need to be stiffer, you can work with half hard wire, it's already quite stiff, or you can run your wire through nylon pliers a few times to stiffen it. I hope this helps and thanks so much for your comments.:)Denise
My ring started off looking very nice and I wrapped the beads well, but even though I used 6mm beads, when I tried to start forming them around the spiral, it didn't work. It was as though the beads were too large 😔 So I ended up with a jumbled mess and no ring. Not sure what happened.
Sorry it didn’t work out. You definitely could reduce the size of the beads and maybe do one extra wrap around swirl in the beginning to make the center slightly bigger. Hope this helps and good luck 😊
+Kayla J d did you mean when in attached the bead wire to the ring or when I trimmed it back after I added all the beads that I needed. If you let me know exactly where you're confused and I'll try to clarify it for you.

the only thing is I'm not sure how you got the wire that has the beads attached to the base.. unless I missed that did you explain that part?
