    That paintwork looks absolutely stunning. I’m repairing my Son’s Racing Green replacing panels that someone who calls himself a ‘professional welder’ bodged up, and it will need a respray. The results on yours gives me some confidence to tackle the job myself

    Wow you covered a lot of ground in 12:33, it’s worthy of a series! Reminds me of working with my dad on an old 1974 M reg mini we bought for £140… it had a bit more rust than your car, but was fun fixing and painting it at home. Congratulations on achieving such a decent job on a shoestring!

    Wow, that looks ace. I painted my Mini about 10 yrs ago, and it looked great, but I think I should’ve done more coats of lacquer. That spray gun looks a good investment 👍 loving following this build. I also have a Spitfire too, so I think you have good taste in cars 😃

      @@cashmachinecars yeah, still got both dude 👍😃 The 78 mini was my 1st car when I was 16, and the 65 Spitfire my 2nd project car when I was 18. I’m 45 now, & Many other cars come n gone since, but those 2 I managed to keep… I’m kinda attached now! Restored the Mini again completely 10 or so yrs ago, and the Spitfire is still good, but needs a bit of tlc. Both worth way more than my daily driver! 🤯

  • @MapleMarmite
    @MapleMarmite ปีที่แล้ว

    That was a terrific job you did there. I like the satin finish first and then the clear coat over top idea. Any particular reason for using the satin as opposed to matt black? I’m guessing you avoided gloss black so you didn’t have to flat it down before the clear coat. Glad this popped up in my feed - will check out what else you’ve been up to. 👍🏻

      Agree about wearing a proper respirator, however, you have achieved a remarkable finish to be proud of. Doing your own welding, painting etc, is what restoring classics is all about, not giving a blank cheque to a professional and then claiming to have "restored it" yourself!! as some so called enthusiasts do.😊 Great work mate.
