Oh I wish you to be here in Portugal!!!! I am a beginner in quilting and patchwork. Till today almost of my projects in quilting were not with a nice finishing, some were puckering, etc. Than I watch your videos and follow your tips and tricks and miracle happens, I am so happy and grateful 😍. Today I have made a table runner (from a Christmas Panel), a very simple one, cause I didn't know if it will be ending nice, and guess what? It comes really well done, and I have follow your tutorial for the log cabin table runner and also making placemats from the table runner kit. I am going to order two kits to make the runner and the place mats. You said that line was 2016. I’m watching this on Jan 5, 2022. I wonder if the company still creates a Christmas line that you cut and sell. Nothing could be so beautiful as those place mats I just watched you make. You have such faith in the cutting of your product.

Just a note to you I sure wish I could sew nearly as good as you. I have been trying to quilt for the several years but nothing turns out right. when I took a beginning quilting class we made 18" x 18" square sandwiches of muslin and batting to practice in. We also used sandwiches made if 3 paper towels to practice on.
Quilting takes practice for most people.

I love the sound of your sewing machine.
I love the flip method used for these placemats. I am restarting my quilting journey by making some charity baby quilts which are 36" x 36" with low-loft batting, so I am planning on using this method to make those quilts. It's a great starter project and it's for a great cause (and if I make a few mistakes along the way, I hope baby won't mind! ;-) If anyone else is interested, look up Project Linus (both in the US and UK).

Very pretty. I want to make some placemats, but I need tonise darker multi colored fabric. My family aren't neat eaters. 😕 no light fabrics last. Haha
I love your tutorials which give me lots of ideas for patterns and colours. Would you consider doing a tutorial on the double wedding ring as I have the templates and would like to have a go. Also I have seen photos of the star wedding quilt, which looks fabulous. However I can't think of how to start this. Thank you for your interesting tutorials.

Donna, will you explain how you cut the backing fabric for strips? The widths are clear but you spin and trim the fabric so quickly its not really clear
Do you cut them on WOF or LOF?
I ended up short of 3" strips and so one whole placemat doesn't have a 3" border. Its just not cost effective to purchase a yard of fabric just to cut a 3" strip.
I've watched the video multiple times and read the directions in the download and just can't catch it.

We can't make exact recommendations, because sewing and finishing techniques vary so much. You will just have to try out a price and let feedback from your customers guide you.

As I said I got my first quilt kit for you and to show how old it is the fabric was subtle song Wilmington I ordered some of the fabric and I still have it. love the pattern wish I could get more.

These fabrics are fabulous I wish the postage wasn't so expensive otherwise I would buy heaps of these. Donna why do you not clip your cotton at the top of the blocks? When do you cut it off? I now finger press my seams and they do make a difference thank you for the tip

I'm knew to quilting, but not sewing. Why are using this method as opposed to putting binding around the placemat? This looks easier, but I didn't know if there was another reason. Love your videos. I went to OSU so I passed through Grants Pass a lot!

The instructions state you van put binding in them, but the way she demonstrates it is much easier & faster.
