Over the last 50+ years, I have performed under many conductors. I must say that Pierre Tang is the best conductor I have seen! One knows exactly where the beats are. Plus, his movements and expressions fits the mood he wants the concert band to play. I would very much enjoy playing under his conductorship.
I have played under the baton of about 12 conductors while playing with three bands and two orchestras over the last five or six years. I really enjoyed watching you conduct this performance, especially because I didn't have the distractions of having to read and play the music. I can see you were really enjoying yourself while wonderfully illustrating the music for the musicians.
Mark, I truly appreciate your kind words. I encourage you to check out my other more recent work on my channel. This video represented my first semester of conducting studies ever. Hopefully, you will also find my recent work enjoyable!
This is a band with 106 non-music majors, community members, and music education majors with secondary instruments. Enjoy our innocent, passionate and genuine music making!
Amazing, this Band did really well, I am impressed, way to go!! This brings me back many memories of when I played this in Wind Ensemble, thank you for sharing this
I played this in high school ('89 - '90) on the 1st F Horn part and in a community concert band. I love this arrangement so much that I bought the concert band score.
Tang, Would you like to conduct the Sunshine Coast Youth Orch Inc for a guest residency for a month of rehearsals and a couple of concerts.? We sunnycoasters would welcome you at the Buderim Concert Band's rehearsals too. I am not on either committee though so I cannot offer you this position. Come over during summer months to enjoy beautiful weather one day, perfect the next! You can suggest some really amazing Australian composers too to include in your program and some Giblee Studio composers too, plz. Thx. s P. S (Wear a mask before and after shows, sanitize music stand, baton & hands, hydrate with bev, and accom free of charge via billeting with musos) s This gesture of cultural interchange is important in these turbulent times. s
Suzana, of course I would love to extend a conversation! I love guest conducting and I do that frequently now. Would you please connect me with the committee of your youth orchestra? my email is longtao.tang@pepperdine.edu
Very nice job! Terrific. The only thing that I found very annoying/distracting, was the house lights going on and off. What was up with that??? Otherwise, a great performance.
first recording that actually has decent tempi. Though, as conductor you don't show the darkness of the music/story. That's the only thing that's missing! almost there! You're actually one of the only conductors who actually has the right tempi.
You too can review, make complimentary remarks, invite our conductor for a lager at the local Surf Club, or just be a plain underpaid, over worked workaholic sourpus critic to Buderim Concert Band's version this Sun 10 Oct, 2021 12 noon to 2 pm @ "Loo with a view" Mooloolaba Esplanade, Sunshine Coast, QLD, OZ. Be warned we are also a band with a variety of skill levels. Feel free to criticize, rebuke, throw money paper notes only in French or Oz currency, and generally give audience a good time....Liven up the party!....we get a few grants see at the end of the day, so we can be unleashed into occasional community highjinx..just to play for you! (when r we gonna learn about copyright income?)
Tang is not always exactly in sync with the actual music he is conducting...either a digital sync problem, the players cannot see him well, an acoustic reverberation echo problem for him in this venue or band is so rehearsed that they think that they know the pace better than their conductor..so why have a conductor if you do not want to follow the beat of his baton/expressive hand gestures.? Check it out...I might be wrong...computer audio stopped in two places for an instant....did they not want me to save this, share this or record me singing those fantabuls tunes..in the shower?...(its bin a Plan B dae, an I bin treated.... like a dog! woolf, woolf)
That’s true! As stated in an earlier comment, there is a digital glitch at 5:31 that created the sync problem! Thanks for sharing your keen observation!

I love watching (and playing along!) with this conductor!
Thank you!

Due to the glitch at 5:31, the video is slightly out of sync ... anyways ... enjoy!

I played this last year in high school! I actually learned horn just to play this piece (we didn’t have any horns and I am a trumpet player)
That’s quite cute actually
