    Sick of buying poor quality Chinese crap that winds up in our landfill in less than 12 months.

      iPhone is made in China - did you buy the iPhone 15?

      @@strawboialright....I'll take u up on that one.
      Tell me the ratio of dog crap vs iPhone level quality products from China?
      Plus, u must be a fan of worker exploitation and monolithic companies avoiding domestic tax responsibilities too?
      How many times have u upgraded and tossed your old iPhone? It all adds up bro.
      Take a breath and realise it all goes in a hole somewhere eventually.
      Slap yourself in the face 5 times and you shall be forgiven.

      I would be interested to see how the DIY and trade business's compare. Mitre10 Mega, Placemakers, Bunnings, Tumu Timbers, Carterholt Harvey. All I can think of. A lot of families are doing projects as the kids come home to live with mum and dad. Retirees are starting to look at doing the 'dream' upgrade, like a decking or re-do the bathroom. Are there any reflections of this in their annual reports? Or are they doing it tough like The Warehouse?

    • @nzheraldtv
      @nzheraldtv  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Love this idea@@David-yo5ws ! Hoping to interview Wesfarmers CEO Rob Scott about Bunnings this year. Graeme Hart owner of Carter Holt would be a dream interview, but it's rare for him to talk. Mitre 10 is a privately-owned co-operative so a bit hard to get hold of too. But their reports will tell the story! M

    There are many deep rooted factors everywhere you look , kids and youth don't even want to do outdoor activities anymore , how are you going to sell bikes and outdoor equipment when they can't even walk to school anymore , and play video games everyday . Social dynamics plays a huge factor .

    Maybe Warehouse can try groceries harder. after all people need food every day and don't need to buy clothing or toys every day/weekly no matter how cheap they are.

    • @nzheraldtv
      @nzheraldtv  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Their grocery business is very low margin! I spoke to CEO Nick Grayston about it in this episode last year: th-cam.com/video/xEbgleYyvsk/w-d-xo.html Madison

    • @josephcollins3447
      @josephcollins3447 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Warehouse is supposed to be a cheaper place to buy. Groceries are not cheaper than supermarkets. Maybe a few buy out of convenience than driving to the next store. Pointless if low margin. Torpedo was not clever. It would have been better just to provide similar gear inside of the warehouse at an affordable price.

  • @Kiwiadventurerandoverlander

    When you fool customers for long enough they will go to the competitor at the very chance they get…when companies like Kathmandu have production out of extreme low cost places like India, Bangladesh, etc … one can just imagine the margins they work with. I used to get things from Kathmandu when I used to live in NZ but now I source my outdoor gear straight from manufacturers in Indonesia whenever I go there.

    Doesn't help that the Warehouse delivery fees are astronomical and most bulk items have to be shipped in from Australia.

    $1 I would've brought it for that but shows TWG cares more for profit rather than caring for the NZ people as they claim, when they purchased it, they should've been aware they were making smaller margins than the cheaper crap they sell at the red sheds. Feel TWG is a bit over the place with it's decisions

    So we are in a recession and the higher priced items aren’t selling as well, I wonder why?
    They shouldn’t be doing grocery at all it hurt them last time, didn’t learn their lesson by looks.

      High skilled employees cannot afford to fly first class, but they are moving overseas for fairer pay and lower taxes and respected as skilled migrants rather than second class to maori+european kiwis. NZ is failing due to its own ignorance and limited view of NZ.

    Do a sharesies episode, precious metal one too maybe. I hear physical silver is a good investment....better than gold as it is less plentiful.
    Would love to hear your comments.

    • @David-yo5ws
      @David-yo5ws 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Silver might be a good investment if you manufacture mirrors. The silver price fluctuations are so small, that you would lose on every transaction cost when you came to convert it back into money. You would have to have a Masters Degree in monetary systems and economics and history, to be an investor in Gold. Gold is no longer tied to the value of money. It tends to follow the price of oil. But as more countries move away from using oil, then will the price of oil decrease in value. If that happened, oil would no longer be viable to drill for. So what happens to gold then??? As I said, unless you have a degree, I would stick to paying off all your debts and have a good emergency supply of food, honey and water. I think we are in for a very bumpy ride by the end of this year. "I can feel it in me waters."
