Hello Angie, Thank you so much for this reaction. I was sure you'd appreciate him. More than a million people were in Paris on the Avenue des "Champs Élysée" at his funeral in December 2017. In France, Johnny was called "Le taulier" (The boss) by the profession (show business). I'd be happy if you reacted to other songs of him (the ones I've already proposed to you), you'll not be disappointed. In all cases, thanks for this one, Angie; it was epic! 🤩❤️ Have a lovely weekend, folks! 🤗
Love your solo reaction...your personality is infectious in a positive way. I love your willingness to search outside the US for artist that are so talented. Please keep reacting and the world will open up through song and music. I think Rollen might like this one, too!
The first bridge before the end of this song might be inspired by The Wings "Live and let die". Totally spot-on with the subject of this song. Many french people consider Johnny as "the French Elvis" but his attitude also reminds me of Bruce Springsteen. Even if I'm far from being a fan of Johnny I must admit he was The Boss in France.
He sang songs from multiple genres. He started as a teenager re-working American rock songs into French (ex. House of the rising sun to Le Penitiere, Black is Black to Noir C’est Noir). He loved to do blues (absolutely check out “ J’la Croise De Le Matin” with Jean Jacques Goldman from the same concert as Requiem Pour Un Fou (9/11/98). He also did Pop and Pop ballads (he wanted to make all his fans happy & doing so many genres widened his fan base) some songs to check out would be Derrière L’amour, Je Te Promets, and Sang pour Sang. He tried to break into the American music scene with his album Rough Town (check out Love Affair that he did with Kathy Mattea, either the official video or his live performance at Cigal. Rock was his favorite to perform. Ma Gueule, Fils de Personne & Allumer Le Feu (check out his concert at the Eiffel Tower, the pyrotechnics are amazing! There were well over 600,000 fans that attended!).
he is not only a rocker; he also has such beautiful soft songs as "Laura" for instance (written for his daughter Laura;; Smet, who is an actress now) : th-cam.com/video/prgsiq1Z8wM/w-d-xo.html
The Desire May darkness be given to me, and then, the light. That I'm given hunger, thirst, then a feast. That be taken away from me what's vain, secondary, Thus, I'd refind the life's price, finally.
That I'm given the pain. Thus, I'd learn to sleep. That I'm given the cold, so I could love the flame. For me to love my land, condemn me to exile. For a year, lock me up to dream of some women.
I was given too much, long before the desire. I forgot the dreams and every thanks, All those things that had a price Make us want to live, and the desire, And of course, the fun too. That I'm given the desire; The desire to desire, And that we light up my life.
That I'm given the hate so that I love the love Loneliness also, so I could love people For I love the silence, tell me some speeches And touch the misery to respect the money
For I like to be sane, overcome the disease That I'm given the night, so I'd enjoy the day That I'm given the day to like the night And for I love today, forget the "always".
I was given too much, long before the desire I forgot the dreams and every thanks All those things that had a price Make us want to live, and the desire And of course, the fun too That I'm given the desire; The desire to desire, And that we relight up my life. 🔥❤🔥❤🔥

English lyrics : Desire Somebody, give me darkness and then light Somebody, give me hunger and thirst and then a feast Somebody, take what's useless and secondary from me Let me find again the value of life... at last! Somebody, give me toil so that I'd like to sleep Somebody, give me the cold so that I like the flame So that I love my land, somebody give me exile And somebody, lock me up for a year so that I dream of women! They gave me too much far before desire (came) I have forgotten about dreams and thanks All these things which had a value, which make up the desire to live and the desire and the pleasure too... Somebody, give me the desire the desire to feel desire... Somebody light up my life! Somebody, give me hatred so that I love love And solitude too so that I love people So that I like silence, somebody make speeches to me And (I would like) to brush misery to respect money! So that I become healthy, overcome sickness Somebody, give me the night so that I love the day Somebody, give me the day so that I love the night So that I like today to forget about the "always"! They gave me too much far before desire (came) I have forgotten about dreams and thanks All these things which had a value, which make up the desire to live and the desire and the pleasure too... Somebody, give me the desire the desire to feel desire... Somebody light up my life!

For me to love my land, condemn me to exile.
For a year, lock me up to dream of some women.
I was given too much, long before the desire.
I forgot the dreams and every thanks,
All those things that had a price
Make us want to live, and the desire,
And of course, the fun too.
That I'm given the desire;
The desire to desire,
And that we light up my life.
That I'm given the hate so that I love the love
Loneliness also, so I could love people
For I love the silence, tell me some speeches
And touch the misery to respect the money
For I like to be sane, overcome the disease
That I'm given the night, so I'd enjoy the day
That I'm given the day to like the night
And for I love today, forget the "always".
I was given too much, long before the desire
I forgot the dreams and every thanks
All those things that had a price
Make us want to live, and the desire
And of course, the fun too
That I'm given the desire;
The desire to desire,
And that we relight up my life.

@@LetsChillPage merci a toi,bisous :-)
You can react to : allumer le feu,Diego,Marie 😘
Good proposals !
Cinéma 😂
T marrante. Enfin Johnny apprécié hors de France. Tu as également, Mylène Fermer et Jean jacques Goldman.

What is your Mylène's favorite song ?
English lyrics :
Desire
Somebody, give me darkness and then light
Somebody, give me hunger and thirst and then a feast
Somebody, take what's useless and secondary from me
Let me find again the value of life... at last!
Somebody, give me toil so that I'd like to sleep
Somebody, give me the cold so that I like the flame
So that I love my land, somebody give me exile
And somebody, lock me up for a year so that I dream of women!
They gave me too much far before desire (came)
I have forgotten about dreams and thanks
All these things which had a value,
which make up the desire to live and the desire
and the pleasure too...
Somebody, give me the desire
the desire to feel desire...
Somebody light up my life!
Somebody, give me hatred so that I love love
And solitude too so that I love people
So that I like silence, somebody make speeches to me
And (I would like) to brush misery to respect money!
So that I become healthy, overcome sickness
Somebody, give me the night so that I love the day
Somebody, give me the day so that I love the night
So that I like today to forget about the "always"!
They gave me too much far before desire (came)
I have forgotten about dreams and thanks
All these things which had a value,
which make up the desire to live and the desire
and the pleasure too...
Somebody, give me the desire
the desire to feel desire...
Somebody light up my life!

A French Elvis imitator. He was good though. Beautiful powerful voice. Rip
