In SC , we had Strom Thurmond wandering around past 100 years. This country has gone insane and we have got to apply some common sense. These " peaceful " protests that last for months and cost billions of dollars in vandalism , deaths , and salaries to law enforcement have to be addressed. It all starts with primaries: practically nobody votes in them and they're designed to let the party leaders pick the nominees. This presidential primary had like 20 other candidates, but if you can only pick ONE, it only requires a miniscule advantage to take the whole thing. It only took a little nudge at the right time to trigger a cascade giving Biden the win over Sanders in 2016 for the Democratic nomination. A lot of people are saying that there should be an age limit and I 100% agree. After the 2024 election (cause none of the will drop out), both parties should see this as an opportunity to draft a new amendment. After the election, both parties can seriously work together on making sure old senile people get to run again. So instead of complaining, you should ask your representatives and senators at the federal level + state levels to take a stance. I can only hope this will be the year that Americans decide it's worth it to vote third party, simply because the choices are so abysmal. That's the change we need to see in our country, more than anything else, just to loosen the choke hold those two parties have on us

      @@KoralTeaYou're kind of making my point for me. The two big parties have a choke hold on us precisely because everyone is afraid to "throw their vote away" by voting for anyone else. But that's only true because too many people are afraid to do it. If enough people did it, it wouldn't be throwing votes away, it would be supporting legitimate candidates who actually stand for whatever the individual voter believes in, rather than simply going for the lesser of two evils. Which, as I said, is exactly the change we need right now

    • @blob2092
      @blob2092 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rbrainsop1 Third party votes are a waste until the system changes. Until there is ranked choice voting or something similar, a 3rd part vote is like a vote for the opposition. Jill Stein lost Clinton the WH in 2016. Not Trump.

    • @rbrainsop1
      @rbrainsop1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@blob2092The thing is, everyone says that. To Republicans, a third party vote is a vote for Biden. To Democrats, a third party vote is a vote for Trump. Isn't it crazy how I somehow end up voting for both of them by choosing not to vote for either of them? That is not a logical stance, no matter how logical it may seem, and no matter how many people state it as fact. And the system will never just change on its own. The system will only change if people change it. And why would either of the ruling parties change a system that is currently benefiting them, and only them? The only way to change the system is to take risks. And if enough people jump together, we can actually do it. Hence, my original point. But of course, you must vote whichever way you think is best. And so must I.
