@@stephaned3072 Of course. And he also showed only the best photos in the best situations. While I won't buy, I'm still impress with what photos smartphones can take nowadays.
Yeah! I did considering to get this phone after watching the video. Unfortunately you didn't show us the video sample (or I just didn't noticed). This will easily be one of my choice when the price drops 😇 I hope more 1 inch sensor phone comes out so there's more competition! Also a great video as always 🎉
There are 6, 1inch sensor phones on the market, I think only 2 of those actually use the full 1inch frame, like this one has a 1inch sensor but it's actually a .9inch crop sensor
What I want is for a phone company to put the volume buttons on the top left, but just far down the body enough that it can be comfortably used as a shutter in camera mode. I really do not trust the thumb taps, and often it's an awkward stretch back to the circle even if you can move it around. I mean, it's not much more to think about if you're putting a 1" sensor in anyway.
Would be even cooler if there was a dedicated half press button and then you could use the volume buttons for changing manual settings like shutter speed etc
This phone was on my radar but I thought it was too pricey. I was thinking about getting I nice point & shoot to bring with me on walks and such. After watching this video I think this phone is a must. Thank you.
Not to take away the fact that this finally is the right direction for pocket size photography, but I am wondering about the fuzz which is made because of sensor and glass. I still have my Panasonic Lumix CM1 smartphone around (or better: two of them), with a 1 inch (Sony) sensor and a 28mm f2.8-f11 Leica lens (any f-stops in this Xiaomi?). FROM 2014 !!!
Seen many reviews about this device. Some are positive and some are negative. But one thing common it has bad selfie and wide angle camera. Where as main camera is a gem 💎 . I still not going for it for it's software situation which is let down for me. And Xioami wouldn't let you use this device for at least 3 years peacefully because of their bad update policy. Not a camera enthusiasts but on a common user perspective it's really matters how phone behaves in long term.
Looks very cool. I'd never even heard of this phone before seeing your review. I'd been thinking about the latest Samsung Ultra phone, but this Leica lense looks amazing.
@@anjanpratapsingh727 depends on where you are, based on your name, I would wager you live in India, where Xiaomi is obligated to basically outsource their software development to India, which due to a number of reasons makes communication hard between different development teams, thus resulting in more bugs. @@anjanpratapsingh727 Hardware level damage? What are you talking about? I have personally owned three Xiaomi phones, and have purchased several for family members too. None have suffered any hardware damage during seven years of ownership, barring the usual battery wear. I consider purchasing Xiaomi phones mostly fir their reliability. Speak for yourself brother.
@@pocolrs Actually here in India, the Miui Indian rom had issues while upgrading to the latest version of Android, many phones motherboards got damaged, cameras stopped working, screen malfunctioning etc etc. Don't know about the EU or China rom but Xiaomi/Poco really screwed up. The latest Poco F4 comes with 2years warranty for this reason.
Great video! I'm pretty sure you can change the shutter speed and most other manual controls using the pro mode tho, either in video or picture mode. As is the case with my lower cost MI phone.
Dope! Love your new style of production. I just can't see myself using a phone for photography other than being my last backup. I think this has to do with haptics. But it's crazy how much these cameras have improved over the last years. Competition in the camera-market is always a win for us consumers!
100%, the quality is almost there(due to how phones process images and the lackluster optics they can still look "muddy" imo, also lack of proper bokeh generally is an issue) but I'm someone who needs tactile inputs to enjoy using a camera, whether that be Fuji/Leica style dials or pasm inputs
Tested it against my old phone decent camera mi 11 lite.. even those who dont know anything bout mobile photography (while sharing it in FB) noticed the difference.. Golden hours shooting is on a diff level..
Your colour grading skills were literally awesome, how was that thing doing now,i have noticed a slight downgraded performance of camera in my Xiaomi 13 pro.
Please help me choose between the white & black one. From vids i like the black one due to stealth but i am getting the white one for 100$ less & I am hella confused now. Also I heard white seems more premium
Leaving a like and a comment for the algorithm. Thank you for this very nicely composed review! I'm impressed and not-impressed with this cameraphone at the same time. For photography, I feel like I'd rather carry a GR II or III in a spare pocket, and just let my smartphone be my smartphone. At least I'll say that I appreciate how fast the Xiaomi 13 Pro shutter was, though. I recently got flustered while trying to use a Samsung Note for some precious family moments (family reunited after 50 years!) and missing "perfect" shots because the phone was busy thinking about whether it wanted to take any more pictures right now.
Did you add the grainy effect to your video? just wondering if its my eyes or something earned a subb btw i have the global version coming in a week or two and the global rom coming in a week lol dont judge me
The video itself is yes, I added some grain on it! For the photos, there are certain ones where I added just a bit of grain through the Xiaomi photo editing software.

I hope you get to review both the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, as well as the Xperia 1 V. I hate the type of photos that the typical phone reviewer takes. They rely mostly on the SOOC Computational Imaging look, which I can't stand. And their photos just aren't interesting, at all.
8:05 - you *can't* manually adjust shutter speed? That's been a feature of "pro" video modes on phones for years. Every LG and Samsung I've had can do that. While not the same as a true ND, being able to balance the shutter speed with ISO/exposure compensation gets you most of the way there. In some Samsung phones there is even physical variable aperture (the Note 10+ could switch between 1.5 and 2.4).
I hope Leica never leaves Xiaomi. Xiaomi now has the perfect hardware with the IMX989 and dual JN1, software needs to be continuously enhanced and more features on the 14 Pro and so on.. No need for an Ultra if Xiaomi's Pro line-up is this good.
However great the phone's camera may be ,this phone's biggest cons are the software and software support. Xiaomi is infamous for giving buggy software updates coupled with delayed software updates. Xiaomi's updates are so bad that they can damage your phone on hardware level
I still haven't figured out how can someone get 50mm f0.95 from this phone? The main camera is 23mm f1.9. Could someone explain it to me? Does it have certain setting to change?
