The story of #PyariMona revolves around the main lead Mona, an overachiever, strong and courageous girl who excels in everything she does but, being a plus-sized person, Mona has to face challenges, problems, provocations and taunts just because she doesn’t meet the conventional standards of beauty set by our society. The serial highlights body shamming, bullying, harassment and its social and mental implications on the victim in a society with unrealistic expectations from women and stringent standards of beauty. Pyari Mona is an unconventional and interesting story of Mona as she navigates through her life. Written by Haseeb Ahmed, directed by Ali Hassan and produced under the banner of Momina Duraid Productions, the serial also features Mashal Khan, Adnan Jafer, Muhammad Hunbal, Naureen Mumtaz, Uzma Baig, Shaheen Khan and others.

As a victim of body-shaming, I am so glad that Hum Tv has decided to raise this as an issue. Yes, it is good to stay fit and healthy, but for some people it isn't easy to lose weight. People don't realise that somewhere, their suggestions become taunts and can lead to depression and an extreme level of insecurity. What I've learnt is that people won't be happy even if you lose weight. They'll still find a way to shame you about something. In the end, it's up to you, how you deal with it. Me? I've made peace with what I am. I lost weight but was still taunted "You'll gain it again". That's when I decided it's not worth it. Loving yourself is what's important. Don't let others bring you down or tell you how to live your life. I hope my words will prove to be helpful for someone.
Love yourself, it's all that matters ✨
Edit: One more thing, if you want to lose weight, do it for yourself. Not for others. 💓

This drama also shows another toxic trait of society and relationships: gaslighting and emotional manipulation by a partner that is so common sadly. Mona’s sister is demeaned by her husband on a regular basis and how it is taking a toll on her health. In her constant effort to make her husband happy and appreciate her for once, that girl is enduring a great emotional damage. Bravo for highlighting this!

He is generally demeaning and disrespectful towards his wife for example when tells her mother “ ap ne woh kam krdya hai jo meri bv ni krski” and she feels so low about it. He generally belittles her in every this and that!

Mona isn't ready but Yaavar is actually very honest and respectful. He didn't impose anything on her and yet explained everything in detail and left her to make her own choice.
I'm glad Mona was honest and careful while dealing with Yaavar. She respectfully explained her mindstate and tried her best to not hurt him despite her anger.
Character of Mona is just fantastic and her mottu friend is awesome.. Pakistan country views and amazing houses make it more adorable 🥰
I liked the fact Mona was still kind with the guy who wanted to marry her. She could have easily told him to get lost, how dare he ask her hand in marriage despite having a son. Im glad she cared about his feelings, n vented her frustrations on Babar bhai, he deserved it.
I also liked this...I actually thought she would be so rude...but thank goodness she didn't....

Baber is not monas sister but samia is and still she didnt care about her sister.shes vile and bad sister. @@hera8909 but samia is not a child shes a full grown adult and these ‘excuses’ that shes only doing it to praise baber,women are like that are completely false.she is an adult and fully responsible for her actions,she never defended her sister(ok if she has social anxiety or is shy etc its fine if she stays out of the fight) but she doesnt even stay out of the fight! She takes her husbands side continuously in the fight and is talking against mona which is wrong.also when she told mona to not compare her to baber cousin cuz shes thin etc baber wasnt even present in the scene,it was samias own evil personality slipping out in the open.she never even apologised to mona AND tried to set her up to marry a much older man with a child by lying to her!( even if samia did do it to save her relation its still very selfish of her)

How odd when Mona just reached home and this guy is waiting for her to talk about marriage proposal? 😂 what kind of direction is this? How odd LOL ..and Babar is so typical, choosing a guy with a kid for Mona just because she is overweight, hadh hai bhai.. Poking in others business. Hope Mona fights for her own self respect. Hope the story is good, glad someone is showing harsh reality of our society.

ah I love how drama is showing that fat= unhealthy. In this drama we can clearly see mona is healthy even though her eating habits are too much buts shes still much more active than her so called sister. And Ik a lot of people said that a plus size person should've been casted. FUN FACT after her pregnancy sanam gained weight and was shamed a couple of time during the morning show

Her so called sister is going through mental health issues clearly & it does not allow her to leave home & play with her daughter, or attend other events. She can't help it.
& Samiya is most likely having an eating disorder too! Her partner is a fitness freak & he is forcing his eating choices on her & their lil daughter.
Being active has got nothing to do with weight. People can feel lethargic , unenergetic & unwilling to take up physical activities probably their mental health isn't allowing them to.
Mona is fit physically & mentally like her niece & loves doing everyday activities with a big smile on her face.
yawar is a really good man.. i mean good mannered, good looking, respectful... mona shadi hi nahi krna chati ,ye alag baat hai, Lakin just because he is divorcee and has a child, is a no reason.. Jahan per hum dosry stereotpes ko break kr rhy hain( including marrying a guy to a divorcee woman), it should be ok too..
P.S I really love the Mona's sister character, brilliant acting as a melancholic, depressed woman.. and kudos to the drama team for adressing sensitive subject like Depressive disorders..
Unmarried girl marrying a guy with a child is actually normal in our society , its not a stereotype at all . But if you reverse it , the situation won't be consider normal .

I find they exaggerate too much. Only because someone is over weight, it doesn’t mean that the person would eat junk all time. They are building a non realistic image of overweight people.
There are health issues, like hypothyroidism, pcos, lipidema.. which lead to over weight.
I am not saying overweight people don’t eat junk at all, but they are definitely exaggerating.
But she is overweight because of her diet.
