I completely agree that the money would be better spent on a college education! I too am Hispanic,did not have a quince(by choice),and although I was born in the U.S,I still follow some traditions from my parents home country. However to say that Hispanics should "start acting American" is a little contradictory. Would it be more acceptable or American if it was instead a Sweet 16 or a debutante ball? Those two "American" traditions are just as costly as a quince and have existed since the 1800s

I know several Hispanics who are 6th generation Americans who can trace their ancestors to the U.S. farther than some of my white American friends. Ironically some of those Hispanic friends don't even speak Spanish yet look very "Hispanic". Be careful with assumptions. Your point is valid, more Hispanics SHOULD go to college and more parents should invest in their childrens education.
