    The health risk is the adhesive resins used in plywood veneers! Ah a video that drives a Functional Print yes yes ;)

    The 40w version has a "precision" button that turns off half of the diodes, so there wouldn't be any need to purchase a separate laser unit and swap them out.

    • @FunctionalPrintFriday
      @FunctionalPrintFriday  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting! I wasn't aware of that. I wonder why they include the 1.6w with the 40w then. .

    • @michaelgleason4791
      @michaelgleason4791 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FunctionalPrintFridaymaybe I misheard what you said on the video, but I assumed you were just talking about needing to swap between 22W and 40W if you bought the 40W. 1.6W would be what, one diode? If you needed that, you'd need it whether you got the 22W or the 40W right?

    • @jettachamp26
      @jettachamp26 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 1w laser is for very fine detail engraving, which will give you finer results than the 40w with half the diodes enabled. (Obviously depends on what you're trying to do)

    I think your camera calibration is a bit off. If you look at the video in the lightburn docs for camera calibration, it fully corrects for the fisheye effect and the edges appear straight after calibration.

    • @FunctionalPrintFriday
      @FunctionalPrintFriday  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thought so do, but went through it 3 times and got really high "scores" from lightburn during the calibration. Couldn't quite get rid of it at the edges.

    25:55 calibration not perfect or it was diff thick. make sense? even perfect calibration it make sense it not correct, but its correct on bottom face of part. if that how it was calibrated. pretty sure calibration not perfect and not warp camera. lazy people xD

    Create a rack and pinion bar to put over the slats to hold them steady.

    Hi again, FPF. I just received my right angle USB-C plug from Amazon, which seemed like a very good suggestion, and am also considering ordering the junction box (2) you're recommending. However, I am currently hung up on a problem of receiving an annoying error message and I cannot seem to find a solution. I'm wondering if the addition of the J-box will add to the problem or perhaps help to make it go away.
    I've experienced just the first taste of my operational unit, but have not had any success in conquering aforementioned roadblock problem, so I've not been able to move forward because of that, but also becz of trying to complete my main task of rebuilding my customer's Citabria wing set.
    BTW, my error message is "There was a problem sending data to the laser. System may be busy or paused”.
    Any possible insight or comment?
    NICE set of metal lathe tools, btw. I've inherited my Dad's smaller Smithy Granite and enjoy (mostly) teaching myself about its use.
    Cheers!

      thx! I have not seen that problem, but the j-box is definitely not going to solve it. If after a power cycle it's not resolved, try another USB port on your PC. If that doesn't resolve it, I'd contact Creality for help.

    Many of the DJI top tech guys, founded Bambu and appear to be raising the 3d printer bar above all others. (Similar to what DJI did in the drone market).
    Will be interesting to see if a similar leader emerges in the Laser Cutting/Engraving/CNC space.
    BTW, I understand Bambu's P1S or X1C are FDM printers (hot glue guns) that support PT, PLA, ABS and carbon fiber material.. but what kind of materials are used in the higher-resolution SLS/SLA (resin+uv) printers? Which is better for automotive applications where strength and heat resistance is needed.

    As an absolute newbie to this realm, I enjoyed the video, although I'm really in need of the entire missing portion of how to interact from start to finish with the computer interface. That's where my biggest challenge is as I try to progress with my 40W setup.
    I'm getting bits and pieces of what's involved, but I need to buy the book titled Creality Computer Interface for Dummies which would very completely describe every little detail between the step of (1) Setting Up Your Falcon and (3) Actually Pressing the Go Button.

    Is there any way to "cut" 35um copper on printed circuit boards... If not directly maybe with blackening or something? This would be game changing for my area of interest.

      at 22w, I don't think it's practical, but there are higher wattage diode machines on the horizon. More to come :)

    After learning Klipper and it's web interface(and building a voron eventually), it's disappointing that a machine like this doesn't at least have wifi and a decent web interface. Needing multiple USB connections is inconvenient.
    Thanks for the review!

      I thought the same thing at first, but then I think it wouldn't work with Lightburn. I think Lightburn is very limited with ethernet compatability.

    • @FunctionalPrintFriday
      @FunctionalPrintFriday  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Have to buy it separate. I think they figure anyone upgrading from another laser will already have it and don't want to jack up the cost for everyone to include it.

    Great video, I purchased the 40w unit, I was wondering does this come with a free version of Light Burn or do you have to pay for it?

    • @FunctionalPrintFriday
      @FunctionalPrintFriday  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not included. I'm still on the free trial, but I'll be getting it. It's a once and done license (not a subscription), which is nice at least.
