Thank you so much for making this video! There isn't enough content around how to actually run a successful jujitsu gym these days.

Hey Ryan, awesome content as always. Could you do a video on how Kama Jiu Jitsu runs its classes? I've heard Rickson emphasize the importance of positional training/drilling. It seems like the majority of Jiu Jitsu schools don't train this way. From my experience, the instructor shows a technique; the students drill it for a few minutes, and then they free-roll the rest of the time. Would love to hear your thoughts on the differences in training methodology. Best.

Here in europe most bjj school have the same training methodology ( instructor shows a technique-drill it a few minutes- free-rolling)
For some people this way of training work but the most people quit BJJ even before reaching blue belt.
Gracie Jiu jitsu looks to me a better way to train than the average BJJ schools because first you learn the fundementals of ground- techniques and after that there is free-rolling.

Solid advice and nice looking gym! Advice from one content creator to another: work on your audio! It was a little hard to understand at some points with the guys in the background. Regardless, nice video and a new subscriber!🔥

Thank you for the advice and sound. As you look through and listen to some of our other videos, you will see that getting good sound has always been a challenge. That’s why I tend to do a lot of my videos from inside my truck, lol! I have so many different solutions for our sound, however not a single one of them works for all locations and situations, I have found.

I’m a bit confused when it comes to gjj vs gjj. All everyone talks about is self defense as the main concept of diffrence between GJj and BJJ. According to GM Helio Gracie the jiujitsu he trains for sparring are the basic moves for all fitness levels and ages (no barenbolo etc). In short: regardless of self defense, what sparing moves would I expect learning at GJJ school? Are they just the basic moves? Lastly, would it be a lagit GJJ school if it teaches all BJJ fancy sports moves plus self defense classes?
What if I wanted to learn basic GJJ sparring without the self defense thingy?

Im a 4 stripe purple belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu. I also have a green belt in Judo. I can tell you that the way we train is no different than other schools. But yes there are gonna be moves we just don’t teach. It doesn’t mean that I can’t defend them or use them but I don’t really train that stuff and it isn’t something I’m trained to do.
I’m still legit and I most definitely hold my own in other Jiu Jitsu gyms.
