Oh I remember how far apart that axle sat! I still think that’s the reason he rolled this truck down a hill, the video where he couldn’t climb a hill without breaking the axle he looked like he was ready to set it on fire where it sat 🤣
Im curious if the driver side control arm is the right one, wouldnt that throw the wheel off some causing the cv axle to be thrown off, still looked like it had some distance to it.
I know this truck was goinna take one hell of a lot of work. I tip my hat to you for taking on this project, nice channel, I like the content. I especially like hearing when something messes up and how you remedy it.
Cool to see other Mechanics still using ratchets like myself. Never been able to come up with the money for a fancy battery impact so do it old school. I would like to have one some day as it really come in handy at the junkyard.
I gotta say guys i had my doughts it would ever be done and done right. But u guys have done a hell of a job. Your supposed to thread a bolt or a set screw in anything your gonna powder coat or paint that has threads. But im sure u figured that out
Totally different truck and axle, but a ram 5500 I was working on had a spacer only on the driver side axle shaft at the hub. Spent some time looking for something I thought I lost on the other side. When I started on the second 5500 I realized only one side had it. Maybe that’s where your gap is coming from on the cv? I could totally see whistlin losing a part like that in his many cv replacements. Not sure what gap you were referring to but perhaps it’s something to look into.
You can get U joint straps at advanced, autozone, oreilly, Napa, etc. I went through it with my silverado on the the highway. Mine was a defective u joint though LOL but it doesn’t hurt to replace straps while you’re at it
Excellent work and glad to see it finally drive after all the hard work and now just to replace the drive shaft lol thanks for the content stay safe and stay safe
Southern CA here, always used a regular direct drive circular saw, never used a worm drive saw aside from a couple times. Nobody I know of has a worm drive saw.
Sweet, running and driving is better than not getting anywhere right? Great work, that's to bad about the driveshaft/u-joint but at least is nothing serious that went wrong.
You no the color looking a lot better then when i seen it on wds TH-cam for the first time to me at least maybe you could git pic ftom. Before the truck rolled to compare ? Just curious
Nope not a good night. 😂 my wifes 2011 GMC Acadia is pissing me off. Only 160k and already had timing chains put in. Ac line rubbed on the power steering line and blew the ac. And it is the long one that goes to the back. And the converter is going out. 😂
I remember when I was 17 and installed a suspension lift on my old Chevy. I will never do another suspension lift again. My next truck will be a body lift on an independent front end. That way I actually get a little bit of clearance out of it. Yeah you'll have to build your own bumper. The rear end I'm not worried about I'll be building another flatbed. Just makes for a head ache free ffun truck. I go through Cvs all the time from the stupid suspension lift. Brakes the tulip almost everytime. Even with the spacers.
I'm in AZ we use both and worm drives are the best it's more of an everyday tool like if you build houses all day the regular circular skill saw is more of a handy man thing
Pull the drive shaft out completely and put it in 4wd and drive it back to the garage. I did that once out in the dunes. Couldn’t get a u joint so i drove it out of the dunes and all the way home in 4wd
Those 4wd switches are known to go bad and if Cody pressure washed the inside of the truck and with all the moving around of wires it may have gone south, this may be what's up with the PRNDL display also, just a thought.
So close, it would be much easier to tap that strap bracket than replace it if it's stripped . Unless you've rebuilt rearends and know how to correctly set back lash. That center yoke bolt doesn't torque to a certain ft pound. Anyway you've came this far in sure you know what you're doing
I'm from Massachusetts and most of the real carpenters I know have both a worm drive and a circular saw and it depends on what and how much of what they are cutting as to witch one they use
I know bbn all to well how this feels. You make great progress and then something else breaks... I love this truck though. It looks awesome. Can I buy it lol
I honestly thought i heard of the driveshafts being too short when you lift it 6+ inches. Not exactly sure, but it'd make sense. If that was brand new, I'd say something isn't right.
TopLineRacer oh okay makes sense, I know there is a lot of work to be done, but great job! I’m glad you bought it from whistlindiesel just to fix it ! Great build and great content
9:19 said every teenage boy his first time😂😂😂😂
I love the sound of that whistle or wine or whatever you want to call it, that the starter does when it's springing to life!
She sounds pretty great!!
The Scream of the beast
He was as calm as whistling diesel when breaking a driveshaft!!
It’s cursed!!
No it's just a Chevy. They break more then they run
Idea... paint the skid plate a secondary color that looks good with that maroon
Maybe silver
Black
Man i love to hear this bad ass truck run again. :) like this if you do too lol
Oh I remember how far apart that axle sat! I still think that’s the reason he rolled this truck down a hill, the video where he couldn’t climb a hill without breaking the axle he looked like he was ready to set it on fire where it sat 🤣
Are you going to sell it back to whistling diesel when done?? 😂😂
It's still going to have the whistle diesel curse 😂😂 it's destiny was to never be saved 🤣🤣🤣
Any powder coated area run a tap through the holes first bud love the content
The 4x4 panel and or 4x4 shift solenoid need replacement. They all go bad 👍
That is awesome, and damnit whistling diesel. 😂 😂 😂 😂
Did you hook all the engine bay grounds backup and all the grounds back in the cab
Trials n tribulations. Coming along nicely. Thanks for sharing.
6:20 you literally made me spit out my water
It’s nice to finally see it in this state. Can’t wait til she’s fully painted!
Would you sell the truck back to Whistling Diesel when it's done?
Cool to see other Mechanics still using ratchets like myself. Never been able to come up with the money for a fancy battery impact so do it old school. I would like to have one some day as it really come in handy at the junkyard.
I gotta say guys i had my doughts it would ever be done and done right. But u guys have done a hell of a job. Your supposed to thread a bolt or a set screw in anything your gonna powder coat or paint that has threads. But im sure u figured that out
Lance is your impact.
Truck looks good.
Every bolthole needs a quick cleanout after powder coating.
Brute force and ignorance!
Totally different truck and axle, but a ram 5500 I was working on had a spacer only on the driver side axle shaft at the hub. Spent some time looking for something I thought I lost on the other side. Are you going to show whistlindiesel the truck
He may probably want to destroy it lol
Just a suggestion......use a couple of ratchet straps to lift the diff in. Very easy and almost falls into place
You are gona have a beast of a truck once you are done. Love seeing all the progress.
You can get U joint straps at advanced, autozone, oreilly, Napa, etc. I went through it with my silverado on the the highway. Mine was a defective u joint though LOL but it doesn’t hurt to replace straps while you’re at it
I didn't seat one of my retainer clips when doing ujoints and lost the ds at 65mph. Cracked the engine adapter and bellhousing. That hurt
Since the inside of the cab was painted, maybe a possible ground not getting good connection under there because of the paint?
Excellent work and glad to see it finally drive after all the hard work and now just to replace the drive shaft lol thanks for the content stay safe and stay safe
Southern CA here, always used a regular direct drive circular saw, never used a worm drive saw aside from a couple times. Nobody I know of has a worm drive saw.
Check the 4wd grounds right under the drivers side door that bolt to the body mount
Appreciate the honesty showing it all, good and bad! 👍
Absolutely true about the worm drives. Gets it done faster.
Love the video. How tell is that garage door? I want to put a 6 in on my truck in the garage.
Good question. I'm not sure off hand
What’s the paint code for that color your doing
You should but a rear bumper on because you can’t tow with the roll pan unless you use a gooseneck
No one should be towing from a bumper anyways...
You can’t tow crap with a bumper hitch 3’ in the air anyways
OntarioRedneXXX the truck isn’t 3 feet high
Billy Prause I’ll bet that bumper is close to 3’. In any case it’s far too high for a bumper tow, a receiver hitch with a drop, sure
OntarioRedneXXX a Gen y hitch would make it able to tow
if you ever want to switch lift kits. i would go with Mcgaughys. They make really good kits and they are easy to install
Hell yeah I am honestly out of this world surprised it was able to even be saved. Awesome build keep up the videos 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Try unplugging and cleaning the neutral switch pluggin. That's how I managed to get my trucks indicator working.
BRO YOU HAD NO OIL PRESSURE TILL YOU REVVED IT AT 0:40
😳
You must eat carrots lol great eye on that one saw the jump
I saw that also....hope its just the gauge!
Those gagues, are they custom? Or did it come with the model?
P.S That sucks that happened at the end too.
They came from Regency, which is who did the original build on the truck when it was new.
I love watching you rebuild his old tore up truck
17:19 pulls out of garage
Sweet, running and driving is better than not getting anywhere right? Great work, that's to bad about the driveshaft/u-joint but at least is nothing serious that went wrong.
You no the color looking a lot better then when i seen it on wds TH-cam for the first time to me at least maybe you could git pic ftom. Before the truck rolled to compare ? Just curious

Bad day??🙂 I know how you feel. Same for me the other day
My buddie at work litterly had same issues with his acadia
We get those in out shop a lot, the Acadias suckkkk
I remember when I was 17 and installed a suspension lift on my old Chevy. I will never do another suspension lift again. My next truck will be a body lift on an independent front end. Are you going to sell this truck , I wouldn't bc all the work you put in to it
Well the way things are looking.........that truck is already in better shape then when W.D. had it
That is a lot of work brother looking awesome
Mag 77 worm drive every day here in Northern California!
I'm in AZ we use both and worm drives are the best it's more of an everyday tool like if you build houses all day the regular circular skill saw is more of a handy man thing
Great video bro don't worry u guys will get it fix hope u got it home
Those rims belong on that truck 🤙 trucks looking minty as hell😂
The duramax is looking great man
Pull the drive shaft out completely and put it in 4wd and drive it back to the garage. I did that once out in the dunes. Couldn’t get a u joint so i drove it out of the dunes and all the way home in 4wd
The 4wd switch isn't getting power. We are still working on the wiring.
Yes I love when a new video is out
What is taking so long with this heap
Good job on the build 👍
What kind of guages
Those 4wd switches are known to go bad and if Cody pressure washed the inside of the truck and with all the moving around of wires it may have gone south, this may be what's up with the PRNDL display also, just a thought.
Love it roared! So beautiful truck! Yall are doing great! You will have this truck at 100% soon! Very awesome job!
Thank you!
always chase the tread after powder coat
Shoulda put in 4 wheel drive to get back
Glad to see you're getting it back together. Great work guys ! 👍👍👍
14:48 what is that song?
Check the ground on the frame under the drivers side
You should put some lock tight on the axle bolts
How much of the WD truck did you usw
Frame, engine, transmission and various interior parts.
That maroon and white look beautiful♥️
Use cutting wax when cutting or grinding aluminum. It makes it work so much better.
Looking good! I hope that you aren't going to sell this thing back to some certain individual in Indiana...
Keep it up man you doing great
Worm drive saws yes that’s the saw of choice here in Cali 👍
The ending was the best😂. Straight Murphy’s law!
4 wheel drive grounds under drivers side cab on body mount.
Looks like there is a castle nut missing on the tie rod on tge driver's side
Lovin the series!
Do you know the truck has to be painted cat eyed red that’s the color the truck had on it before
It's a truck now it actually moves good job guys all downhill from now on and remember double-check everything especially driveshafts
Can't wait to see the finished product!!
Dang, that trucks gonna be mint !!!!
Good job...argentina present..
Kodiak is like 15 mins from me I live in SE Wisco
So close, it would be much easier to tap that strap bracket than replace it if it's stripped . Unless you've rebuilt rearends and know how to correctly set back lash. That center yoke bolt doesn't torque to a certain ft pound. Anyway you've came this far in sure you know what you're doing
You get more views when you put whistling diesel’s name in the title of your videos just noticed. But you probably already knew that!
Soo happy it at least drove!
Love your content man!
Thanks!
I'm from Massachusetts and most of the real carpenters I know have both a worm drive and a circular saw and it depends on what and how much of what they are cutting as to witch one they use
Can’t wait to see this nice again
Can I suggest a tie rod brand that I guess you'll never have to replace them again... they're tie rods with the name kryptonite
That truck looks better now then when Cody bought it
That front diff bracket should have come with new supplied hardware slightly longer than the factory hardware
This is actually a longer driveshaft than factory.
Right on, I might've missed if you said it in video! Goodluck tho
So why didn’t y’all put it in 4wd to move it out of the way ?
The 4wd switch didn't have power. Still working out the wiring stuff.
TopLineRacer oh okay makes sense, I know there is a lot of work to be done, but great job! I’m glad you bought it from whistlindiesel just to fix it ! Great build and great content
Hey spencer get frank the cabover and restore him
Trial and error my good man 👍
Probably have some ground wires off somewhere
U guys are doing frickin awesome!👌
Lower the torsion bars down to help the axles
They are as low as they go.
