The aprons are so cute! Everything is wonderful.🧵🧥
Thanks Whitney!! Great ideas! I am doing my first craft fair in 3 weeks....burp cloths, tote bags, tissue holders for purse/backpack, make up bags, and I've got a few others to try if I have time! Have fun and good luck! Thanks for the video!
Just a sewing craft idea. People that travel will sometimes wear a money belt under their clothes. A place for cash, credit cards, and pasport. Your money apron reminded me about this.
Thinking of credit cards, New ones have a chip that thieves can read if they get their scanner close. I have seen others cut up a soda can and put it in a card holder.
Hi Whitney. Super cute items. Wish I lived in your area so I could come. I love the way you recycle tees. I especially liked the tee ruffle. I used to do lots of craft shows years ago. Recycle your grocery bags to use at the fair. I used to wear a fanny pack to store my money. Bring lots of small bills to make change. Good luck. Tere
Nice selection of projects, my advice is to have a wide range as far as price is concerned.
People will gladly pay more for items that are beautifully pieced or quilted and appreciate the time involved in making them.
I’ve found customers really like one of a kind items too.
Super adorable crafts! I love the paper square zipper bags. Super cute. And using the suitcases not just to carry stuff but display? Absolutely genius!!!
LOVE the aprons!!
Good luck on the craft fair! I hope you sell out completely ;) Such adorable things you've made! My advice would be to not be upset or get your hopes up when a customer says, oh, I'll be back in a minute, and acts like they are about to make a purchase. Just smile, be polite, but know they probably won't be back, lol.
Advice...Take change, drinks, snacks, bags for your merchandise, I always brought notebook and pens, business cards. Check to see if they require you to cover your table. I had made some covers that went to the floor and had a flap in the back to access my things. And bring your lunch. They charge way too much for food at these shows AND I got food poisoning at one. It was no fun. If you can get electric, lights are nice too. Oh and make sure you have different levels to display.
Thanks! I'm glad you like it! I usually don't make a whole lot of things outside of tutorials, but when I do I'll try and make update videos to show them :)
brilliant items
Hi Whitney I love watching your youtube videos your always cool, confident & bubbly & I like that keep up the good work & keep the tutorials coming. My church is also having something called a Mega fair & car boot sale & I would also be displaying my stuff there; hopefully because I wasnt feeling to gud lately so I hope to feel better very, very soon & get back to fun sewing work. It would also be my first fair working at & sumtimes I'm usually nervous at those events so I hope all goes well. Thanks for your tutorial again it give me some items of things to make & what things usually sell at craft fairs. Thanks Again & happy sewing!
You're sooo smart .love it
Good luck n I love all your tutorials n crafts
I wanted to give you a few words of encouragement on your fair. I am a convention seller (artist primarily more then crafting) and if I can give you any advice it is SLEEP! Get your sleep before the show. People are more likely to buy from you if your happy go lucky and awake.
Good luck!
Lots of the items can appeal to 'grown-ups'. My newsboy hats (I have 6 done now), the zipper bags, and any of the stuff made from vintage character sheets. I've sold tons of items made from character sheets to people in their 30s who remember watching those TV shows as a kid and want to have a small piece of that show around still. I do see your point of maybe using none 'kid like' fabric, but that's sort of my niche and it works well for me.
good luck Whitney! you should post some pictures of the table !
awesome stuff. Do more of these videos! I like seeing everything you make. It doesn't always have to be tutorials! Fabric hauls would be awesome too.
So fun! The smurf apron was my fave!
Great job. Really cute things! Good luck wishes to you and your Mom at the craft show!
I like the sound of reversible wrap skirts but we didn't see much of them....also, I think you should include some of your circle skirts...I made one for my grand-daughter and she adores it because it twirls so well...make some kid-size ones and I think they will sell like hotcakes! Good luck with the craft fair, I've never been brave enough to do one...
Wow Whitney, you made gorgeous goodies. I hope the fair goes really well. Oh by the way, I gave your channel a big shot out on my blog. I finally showed the Dorothy Gale outfit I made for my sister last Halloween using your circle skirt tutorial. I did a link to your channel and that particular tutorial too. For it to be my first every sewing project (I haven't even made a tea towel before!), I was pretty chuffed with it. It looked great on my sister. Good luck at the Fair. Lee x
I've never done a craft fair in all of my (almost 55!) years! I'm not that great at sales. I love the stuff that you've made though, and I wish you and your Mom tons of Good Luck at the Craft Fair! Please video some of it for us to see what it's like? Love y'all! Happy Halloween!!! ♥ dig ♥
Lovely !
Good luck with the fair! It would be great if you could do a follow-up video with some tips and also let us know what sold and what didn't. In my experience the things you think will sell like hot cakes don't and vice versa!
It would have been really cool if you and your mom had made this video together. ♥ And I'm glad you'll be adding more items to your Etsy store. I was wondering when you were going to list more things. There's a church down the street from my house (I'm in Florida) that is also having a Craft Fair on Nov. 9th and I'm really looking forward to it. Good luck and I hope you sell a lot!
I am also doing my first craft fair November 9th in Alaska! Great tutorial!
I don't think you'll have anything left :) i'd snap half of it up myself hehe. But you have given me some ideas of different things to make for my first attempt at a stall next yr at our school. Thanks again for all your inspiration and great Tut's :)
Thanks! I really hope we sell a lot! Glad you liked seeing my projects :)
Awesome stuff, im also doing 2 craft fairs for the first time this year in Nov with my mom. i really hope i sell enough. im basically selling I spy bags and infinity scarfs and sachets. my moms doing crochet stuff. good luck
Love your projects! Good luck on your craft fair....hope you sell a bunch of stuff! thanx so much for sharing xoxoxo
Aww thanks so much! I just googled and found your blog post....I LOVE how the costume turned out! You did a awesome job! I can't believe you're super new to sewing :)
Love the aprons 😍
Thank you!
You are a very sweet person, Thank you for sharing your videos with amazing ideas and tutorial's God Bless
Thanks so much for the tips! I'm not looking forward to pricing my items....that is my least favorite part of selling handmade.
Best of luck with your first craft fair!
There's a link in the description to the wrap skirt video that has several pics. They are too big to show on camera and are super wrinkly so I didn't even try showing them, sorry.
Thanks That will probably be my hardest thing....trying to not get discouraged by people who get my hopes up then don't come back.
Awesome! Tfs! The pillow shams are rad! xo
Thanks for sharing all of this, It was fun seeing everything. I do so wish that I lived near so I could come buy something but I wish you luck at the craft fair! ^-^
Thanks so much for the tips! My mom and I scored a TON of generic gift type bags for only $2 that we're going to use :)
A lot of the ladies gave really goid advice, stick to ur set pricing its a craft fair not a garage sale. How you display is also important. Yes and have plenty of small bills and change at hand, and yes smile and say thx a lot. And my catch fraise is always happy shopping .
Thanks! I really like that one too :)
I'm also doing a craft fair Nov. 9. My first too! I'm worried everything will wrinkle before I get them set out. I might bring my iron just in case.
Awww thanks Whitney. I'm so sorry I should have told you my blog link was on my YT home page. Silly me. I was so chuffed with how it turned out....considering I've never sewn anything before. You should have seen me trying to thread the machine....it took longer than making the dress lol. Thankfully I pick things up pretty quickly, though I don't think I'll be designing any couture fashion items any time soon lol. Thank you to you for your great tutorials. I made it with your help. Lee x
Would love to see some of your Mom's items in video! good luck!
My favorite thing was the cute flower headbands! Good luck at the craft fair. Let us know how it went!
Thanks so much for the great advice! :)
very nice
you did good beautiful may god bless you at the craft fair
Amazing. Please do a video on the cash bag..
Best of luck with your first sale!
No I didn't. The full size suitcase is in its original state and the little one was purchased as a decorative case.
Thanks!
Hehe I like that 'a craft fair, not a garage sale'!
Yes me too some people add on a lot of fees to boost the cost of an item, but a rule of thumb for me is I usually try to time everything by 3 to 5 times. So like if a necklace cost me a $1 worth or supplies I may sell it for $5. I want to have my items be affordable, but also make a small profit. I have been told a lot that I tend to under sell my items, but I still make money either way. And I believe you will do well since you items are common items, but the are unique enough to stand out.
Plz do the hat tutorial. My son's love those types of hats. Thanks.💕
Hehe thanks!
There's a link to it in the description box :)
I have done craft fairs for years (expect this year taking a break). One thing you can expect is pple looking and touching A LOT. Also, one thing to keep in mind if you have set prices keep them at that price. Pple always want to play less for an item than what it would have cost to make it, ie knitted designed fingerless gloves I was selling for $15, could have sold for more, but pple wanted to pay less than $5. I explained that the yarn alone cost $5, stay focused, n let them know it handmade
They were both purchased as is
I'd love to see a tutorial on the cashiers apron! :D
I want to see your tutorial on the reversible skirt please.
Yeah it would have been cool to have my mom in it with me, but we live a few hours apart. So I won't get to see her until the night before the craft fair.
Wow Whitney you made sooooo many nice things! Girl, you have been very busy. I know that everything will sell! Can u sometime, tell us how u price things, for sale. I never had a tag sale but have a ton to get rid of and have no idea , how to price things. If you could it would be very helpful, thanks.
Please make a turtorial on the money a apron
I wish I could go...but I love in MA
I have never done a craft fair ... but I have sold my stuff at an anime convention. Make sure you have plenty of change and a calculator.
Hi!!, did you do the restoration of the suitcase?, can you do a tutorial about that?!, thank you!
Maybe we can meet sometime and do crafts!!!! I'm in the DFW area these days, but fun, fun, fun! Crafting and sewing is just that!
Whitney, try looking for Mark Montano's channel. You may get some ideas of all the scrap fabric you have and all the things you still have around. Hope that helps! And many blessings in the upcoming craft fair! Wish I was near by! ~AGM~
Measurements for the tiered skirt please
Suitcase tutorial pls pls pls... Thank you!
How did you gals do at the show? We try to go to as many shows as we can afford.
We are all about our goat milk soap. We also have jams, jellies, relishes, wood crafts, knits, chalk boards, hair things, sewn stuff and more all things hand made. Fun I like to here how others did selling there homemade goods.
Whitney, do you have some easy Christmas tutorials?
Do you mean Christmas themed projects or projects that would make good Christmas gifts?
Hehe I sure hope people snap it all up :)
Jenks! You from Oklahoma? I'm originally from Tusla.
Yep. I'm from the Tulsa area.
Good luck!! Hope you sell out :)
I wud have luved to come if I lived in America.. UK too far :-(
very good job you well doing learn more in the further keep going? good Luck!!! :-)
Ruth M. Muniz Thank you! I don't do many craft fairs, but I do a lot of sewing and tutorials for this channel. I hope you check out my other videos :)
O.K. Get your time Whitney Sews. :-)
ninja turtles!!!! (33yr old me is excited for the old school turtles 🤓)
I like the items you made but you forgot to make some grown up items. Also another idea you could have done was a sewing contest . This would have given your booth much more variety and ideas for your tutorials.
Best of luck with your first craft fair!
