The only thing I’d be worried about with this kit, is it only connects to the rear axel instead of axel and shock bolt. The plate can act like a big torque lever and undo the nut on the wheel if your not careful.
Riding Digital: I have purchased the same side plate mount. Have you taken the red reflector from your original rear mount and how have you fixed it to the base of your new mount please? Stephen
I love your bike, I'm looking at getting a chopper/cruiser bike (also from the UK) have you had any issues with the police from having a side mount plate?
Nice bike, could you pleaze give some feedback as to how it holds up after your rides? Have seen some reviews of the thunderbike one and most of them say the mount has warped and such. I dont think this is the case here as it looks quite a sturdy piece.p.
+padelis giagk Thanks - it's held up absolutely fine, it's solid as a rock. When I fitted it first time I had only hand tightened the mounting bolts before riding off (whoops), it flew off at 40mph - not even a scratch. It's not cheap but it won't break! RD
Riding Digital cheers for the reply... imma thinkin of the longer homologated version as i am planning to put some saddlebags on but for show as well. Any thoughts?
Have a question, i have an '02 Sporster 883 and have a side mount plate installed problem is wiring up the lights. I got which wires to use but how did you tuck and conceal them and where did you route them? Any help be much appreciated. Keep it shiny side up bro.
hey, I tucked them up under the rail guards, if you unscrew the frame rails running either side of the mud guards you can zipper clip the wires to the frame and pop the rails back on. good luck!
@@ridingdigital ah I couldn't tell from the glimpse I saw it looked like it could have been a Jacob and co epic x in rose gold in which case I'd imagine you'd have a fleet of Harley's !!
hi dude I just like the bike cause everything in it is owesome colours, head lights the side plate that you change fits well aaahhh nice, how can I get one like that its fabulous bro
Unfortunately the legal size for a motorcycle plate in the UK is 9" wide x 7" high, the German plates are even larger than the UK ones, they look like a barn door.
It's possible yes. If you mark the position of the adjuster either side with a pencil (it might help to put a bit of masking tape across both parts, draw a line then cut along the gap) then you will see any movement. Mine was fine and I didn't have any. Good luck!
Hi buddy I order the same side plate this video and my problem now is the plate!!!! Is possible you tell me the place you make your plate??? Thanks mate!!!
dazlarg it's a performance machine contrast cut air filter. fitted it at the same time as the exhausts and used a V&H FP3 tuner. you'll need to remap and tune, runs badly without. RD
Hey mate, sure no problem - I spent ages looking for a solid UK legal side plate that didn't stick a mile out and this was the best I could find. I got it off eBay, this looks like it but check colour etc. Good luck 👍 rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F271569524274
Riding Digital great, thanks for the info... looks so much better than having it stuck on the back over the wheel! Shame we can’t have the tiny plates in any colour like over in the states haha
+Wee Mac yes I believe it is (wording states must be at the rear of the vehicle or as close as possible, which it is), but you need to have a light and red reflector. I have a legal plate (sizing and colour) and no problems at all. But do your research to make sure you're happy with it, seems a bit of a grey area but more think it's OK than not.... hope that helps!
@@ridingdigital Side mounted plates are NOT legal in the UK, the plate must be on the rear of the motorcycle. That's why UK registered Sportsters come out of the H-D dealership with that ugly plastic "pig's nose" plate mounting bracket. Left hand mounted plates are meant for countries that drive on the right hand side of the road, when they are eventually legalised for use in the UK, the plate will have to be mounted on the right hand side of the motorcycle to be legal. That is because when a police car is overtaking the motorcycle to stop the rider the registration number will be clearly visible to the police, if the plate is on the left the motorcycle will obscure the registration number.

Looks great! Thanx for uploading!❤
Great vid pal. Will be doing similar to mine so this was a big help! Cheers bro! 👌🏾
hey, my bike has middle stand (addition to kick stand) I don't think I need another person to push on the shocks or do I?
What's the torque required when putting back the axle
nut?
The rear axle nut torque values are :- 95 to 105 ft/lbs or 129 to 142 Nm.
Hi
Have you had any issues with it being close to the brake disc?
Thanks

Hi, no I was given a reflector from Rick's in the pack.
I love your bike, I'm looking at getting a chopper/cruiser bike (also from the UK) have you had any issues with the police from having a side mount plate?
Thanks. No issues at all, it's fully visible from standing at the rear and passed the mot too 👍🏻
i like more the original plate position. What is that old kit called?

lovely bike dude! I was considering doing this to my iron 883. What watch have you got on at 5:49
thanks bud, watch is a Hugo Boss HB.25.1.34.2106 👍🏻

That plate is fucking huge man, I live in texas and like all the other states here in the US its tiny
tell me about it. If Trump would let me in I'd move to the US tomorrow, have a small plate and live happy for the rest of my riding days 👊

Not concerned to touch the road with the side mount while leaning in a turn?
These official registration plates are insanely big
yea I know, they're huge... I was a bit concerned at first but it's fine, pegs hit first!
Is it easy to remove bottom bolt on the shock absorber? And then put it back in..
It's possible, I just needed some help to compress the back while I did it
Hi, question. Due to your side plate is so low mounted, did you ever had any issues with cornering and the plate hitting the pavement?
I've not had any issues at all with the side plate hitting the ground, the pegs hit first!
@@ridingdigital thx for your quick reply :)
When you take the wheel nut off, is there any risk the wheel becoming misaligned ?

Hey, I got the plate from www.platecreator.com and it was 177x203mm. Hope you get it sorted! RD
Riding Digital thanks mate!!!
The link not working 😭😭😭
Eduardo Carvalho Looks like they might not exist anymore...but you should be able to get the same size somewhere else. it's basically 7x8inch
Did you have any issues with the shock, with the bike sitting on the ground?
na it was ok but needs a 2 of you (one with a strong arm) to compress the shock enough to put it back into position again
Thanks. I was curious b/c in another vid the mechanic suggests using a lift for that reason. Looks like I need jackstand.
Hi which type of air intake is that?... did you have to remap after install?
dazlarg it's a performance machine contrast cut air filter. fitted it at the same time as the exhausts and used a V&H FP3 tuner. you'll need to remap and tune, runs badly without. RD
Is that iron tank ?? 12.5 liter ??
it's an aftermarket Custom Chrome 3.3 gallon tank, same sort of shape as the iron 👍🏻
Hi mate been looking for a side mount to fit uk size plate, any chance you’d be able to reply with a link to where you bought yours? Thanks, hal.

PS I had to get a new plate made to fit it from a custom plate shop online but the letters are the legal height

Hal Dyson m
nice bike bro how can I get one like that am from Tanzania its fabulous
Or size you use????
Holy shit they got fucking billboards for licenses over seas.
Where is your brake light?
Hi Jeff, on the 48's the brake and stop lights are built into the indicators. RD
is side mount leagle in the UK ? I'm thinking about changing mine

More sprung weight. Not the best idea.
