    Nice job on the custom edge guide and thanks for the impressions. This one will be my next festool.

      I'm still really happy with it, it's earning its keep already. Definitely a good buy for what I need it for.

    There are centre of the bit mark under the hand hold knop. You can see exactly right hand.

      So far I'm really glad I have. It'll be so much nicer to use in the little shed for sure.

      I still absolutely love it.ive also now got the 1400ebq ,so it's bigger brother. Well worth it for daily use 😉

      @@tillysgunstocks yes I have had that 1400 for a few yrs and it is very usable though a little heavier . I like the idea of the lo55 as it has a light and a tooless bit change . I’m just waiting a bit longer to see if Festool will add a light and a tool less bit change to there next iteration 😛

    I'd screw a bracket on there with a translucent ruler where the centerline is. Saves you from making markings on the wood every time and is way more accurate than the thick centerline on the machine. Preferably a -50 to +50 mm ruler or something. I did that on my OF1400 and use it 95% of the time. Another idea is to fix a ruler on your guideblock, then put the router over it, center it, and then transfer the mm/cm markings to the chipboard base edge with a sharpie or similar. You can make the front side in ...-6-4-2-0-2-4-6-... etc format, and backside in ..-5-3-1-1-3-5-... etc format if line thickness is an issue.
    By the way, the OF1400 guide pieces come with a fine-adjustment knob. Use two of them, tighten them on the workpiece, then turn them simultaneously for fine lateral adjustment. I wonder if they fit on the OF 1010 bars? Diameter is 8mm I think on both, but the spacing might be off?
    Good video and very clear explanations by the way. Great to watch :)

      Thanks for watching dave, funnily enough I had much the same idea with a ruler section fitted to the body.
      I'll have a look at the fine adjusters off the other models it would add another level of accuracy for sure.
      I do need to make up a decent depth stop turret too, I need plenty more steps with around 3mm drop per step. I find it awkward making even depth passes as it is. And it's fairly critical with the laminated birch I'm often using.
      Cheers
      Tommy

      @@tillysgunstocks I own both the 1400 and the 2200 so took measurements: the rods are 85mm apart on the 1400 and 115mm apart on the 2200. The 1400 uses 8mm rods, 2200 uses 10mm rods. I suspect the 1100 has the same 115mm spread of the 2200, but 8mm rods. Might work anyway, and I am sure the 1400 parts will not work.
      For the depth stop I use an aluminium block that I milled 3mm steps in. I have another with 5mm steps out of hardwood. I just set my final depth accurately, fix the depth gauge on the router, and then just wedge the milled block on top of the existing turret before unlocking the router and pressing it down. I use the block with the steps down so I can easily bump on the turret-screw and eyeball how many multiplications of 3mm I am setting the pass to be.
      Another option would be to use the fine-adjuster. It has 2x8mm travel so if you remember to raise it before each new piece, you can get five 3mm passes out of it, and probably more if you combine it with the different turret screws. It's just a bit more cumbersome, although keeping a stepped block at hand can be cumbersome at times as well.

    I have a 1010 and a 1400. All my other routers are gone now except a porter cable 3 1/4 hp, it's sitting on a shelf and not being used.

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks ปีที่แล้ว

      I've just started using a bunch of 8mm shank cutters in the 1010 and it really punches well above it's size.even with the monster 32mm wide flat cutters.
      I was going to get the 2200 to replace the big Bosch,but the handle layout of the 1400 with my own fences actually looks to be a better option for the majority of my work.
      I'm really happy I took a punt on the 1010. It's paid for itself already

    • @roofermarc1
      @roofermarc1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tillysgunstocks I agree. The 220 I don't need right now but the 1010 and 1400 is perfect. The 1400 is just a hd 1010 with 1/2" capacity. And the guides are different layout than the 1010 so you need 2 sets of guides.
