Getting the minor boon of the bone lord makes the eggs work like 0-cost cards for the fair hand mechanic because it puts 2-blood cards in the category of "playable blood cost cards" if an egg is one of the two randomly drawn cards in the opening hand.
I remember doing a run where I had a cockroach as my only bone card and a great bonelord blessing, and I wasn't guaranteed to draw the cockroach at the start of a battle, so I don't think that works, unfortunately. The fair hand mechanic seems to only look at blood cards and doesn't take bone cards into account

However, it is possible it does not include boons in that, as I believe those _visually_ trigger after the hand is drawn (note that visual effects and behind-the-scenes code do not have to match, though). There's another problem, though. What the OP said is that they work like ZERO cost cards. Zero cost cards are NOT guaranteed to be drawn. This is why Geck is so bad. So, your Cockroach example was dead before it started.

In Act 1, the Daus's chimes also gain the Daus's transferred sigils. It's not just Kaycee's mod, it's the entire game that got the buff
It didn't come up this stream, but yes, buffing the egg at a campfire does carry the buff over to the hydra when it hatches.
