Expedition to Mt. Hanuman Tibba in Alpine Style

3. Name of the Himalayan peak climbed and its height: Hanuman Tibba - 5932 M.
4. Date: 30/5/2013 to 16/6/2013.
5. Nominal roll of the expedition leader and members:
i. Sanjay Majhi -- Leader of the expedition team and climbed Mt. Hanuman Tibba.
ii. Indranath Mukherjee -- He was the Advisor of the expedition team. He stayed at Base Camp (3600
mtr.).
iii. Kingshuk Chatterjee-- He was in charge of medicine. He climbed Mt. Hanuman tibba.
iv. Avisek Tunga-- Deputy leader of the expedition team and climbed Mt. Hanuman tibba.
v. Tanmay Biswas -- He was photographer of the team. He reached up to 4800 mtr. i.e. Camp-I.
vi. Prasun Kumar Sinha-- He was the Equipment Incharge and climbed up to 4800 mtr. i.e. Camp-I.
vii. Tiyash Mukherjee -- She ferried loads up to 4800 mtr. i.e. Camp-I.
viii. Sreejan Kanti Saha - He ferried loads up to 4800 mtr. i.e. Camp-I.
ix. Abhinab Sandilya - He ferried loads up to 4800 mtr. i.e. Camp-I.
x. Lisa Kole -- She stayed at Base Camp
6. Commencement of trek from rail head/road head: From road head -- trek started on 3/6/2013 from Solang Nala (14 K.M. from Manali), Kullu District, Himachal Pradesh.
7. Number of camps en route up to Base Camp: One transit camp was established i.e Bakarthaj (3300 M)
8. Establishment of Base Camp:
We engaged 3 mules for carrying our loads up to Transit Camp. First day, on 3rd June, 2013 we moved from Solang Nala at 9 a.m. Within 6 hours we reached Bakarthaj in very bad weather. Next day i.e. on 4th June, 2013 we proceeded through Moraine. We took 2 hours to reach Beas Kund. Here we established the Base Camp of Hanuman tibba Peak. (3600 M)
10. Technical/Climbing difficulty on way to higher camps:
From Base Camp to Camp-I, the route was towards west.We proceeded through a glacier of gentle slope and after three hour trek through the glacier we started climbing through rock fall zone towards Tendu Pass. It took another one and half hours to reach the camp -I. We reached the camp -I without help of rope.
From Camp-I to Camp-II, the route was through the snow -rocky patch towards Tendu Pass. We were roped up to reach the Camp-II (4900 M.). We reached tendu pass after climbing of 3 hours. The slope was about 55 degree.
From Camp-II to Summit-Camp, the march was on the Ravi Glacier for about 4 hours.
Next day we started summit march at around 3 a.m. on a thin snow covered ice wall. First we started climbing being roped up. Then Our HAFs were fixing ropes alternatively. After fixing the ropes 9 to 10 times we reached to the south-east ridge. Then after one hour march we reached to the summit (claimed by HAPs) at around 09:56 a.m. And returned Summit camp on that day. On the next day we returned to the Base Camp.
12. Snow and rock condition:
Snow condition of this expedition was very good. Soft snow was there. Tendu pass was fully rock fall zone.
13. Weather condition:
After starting from Solang Nala on 03/6/2013 we faced bad weather on the first day trek. Heavy rain started in the afternoon. Next day weather was good. Then again on 10th June, 2013 evening, the weather condition deteriorated.
14. Camp site cleaning activities and disposal of garbage:
The area of Base Camp was cleared and all the garbage was burnt and buried. Garbage from Camp-I, II and III area was collected and taken back at Base Camp and later on burnt and buried. Non-bio degradable waste was disposed at Manali.
15. Maximum height attained and its date:
5932 mtr. (i.e. summit) of Hanumantibba Peak on 9.6.2013
