Well when the bells are heavy and the ringers do the force the clapper would hit the bottom as it didn't got the same force to hit up like the bell rining up
You know if you could have been putting screen down just like the scene when you flip the clapper. It actually was gonna be a good idea to put a camera down while bell ringing up it was so comfortable
The bell has not been turned. Someone wrote it on all four sides years ago to confuse a previous tower captain they didn’t get along with. He had written it on one side as he didn’t know which side to muffle.

I been up there and see this bell standing. I never rung it up. Just don't break a stay there especially the back bells as they are hasting stays.

Interesting chalk writing on the inside - I'm guessing its saying "Muffle this side" even though its on both sides... Lovely tenor too
though on one side, that writing is crossed out... it also seems to be on the other sides the clapper doesn't strike (maybe half turned?)
@@adamm2693 Mm indeed. I think the tenor has been turned 90° at some point so the clapper wear spots on the bell don't become a problem.
