@@AGuyWithEyeliner there's a lot of specific MU combos that can do TODs or a lot more than you'd think. I think Dudley has a crazy long combo on Makoto with SA1, Urien has a TOD on Akuma, etc.

I dont have issues with characters that are strong yet require lots of work and execution to win with like makoto or a urien. The big issue is a character like chun which is really easy to play and insanely good

Jose Hernandez its her f*****g two uppercuts after her super art; its hard to pull off the second uppercut since it's kara but man is it devastating. Everytime i faced a makoto that knew how to do it, i just put the controller down.

When I picked up Makoto as a secondary to Chun, I went the SA1 route. It’s not as versatile as SA2 but when you parry you get guaranteed 45-50% damage off of your punish.

@@Professor_Utonium_ man thanks for the response. I am not saying all characters in 3s were like Makoto. Or that all characters in sf5 are basic. But I dont see any current characters in sf5 that approach the difficulty of Makoto's execution
@@chrisludwig4729 That's pretty fair to say. I'm also just a step or two above novice for both games, so it's hard for me to really make a judgement, since I'm getting the feel for both simultaneously. I know for sure though you definitely don't see anyone as easy as Ed in 3S hahah
@@chrisludwig4729 Makoto was definitely different...I looked at my friend as he picked makoto, I laughed at him like i had her in the bag, and my face was 😦 stun when he picked that Tosa(powerful) something when she boost her strength...I tried to run and hop a away with hugo... it just made the situation even worse. There will never be a character with her approach again.
What makes me sad about SFV is that you still have these long, cool looking combos that use all your resources and have like 9 different attacks in them just like 3rd Strike, but they do like 1/3 as much damage as a similar combo would in 3rd Strike because they’re just so damn easy to do in comparison

Fact of the matter is that we haven’t been eating this good since 2009. Functioning online, best selling entries, old games are returning, record setting prize pools, more international competition, etc. We’re definitely in a FGC Renaissance right now

Repetitive as it is, it's makoto..I'm amazed that anyone is this good with her. I figured she was bad coming from SF4 cause she's very open. Guess it's different with 3rd but them juggles are impressive anyways.

+weglarz People think she's upper mid because several pro players place her highly on their tier lists, but the facts don't lie - Makoto doesn't win tournaments or even place well. There's only been one top player to break that rule, and Haitani switched away from her in Ultra because she's even worse than before.
tldr Makoto is not a good character in IV and that's why nobody plays her.
So cammy is bad because no one ever wins tournaments with her?

Placings don't mean much at all, it's mostly about the people playing them.
Eryu, Ken and Yun are both undisputed top tier but without Daigo/Momochi/Kazunoko they wouldn't win anything either.
Cammy is obviously still high tier but rarely used, Gen is obviously low/mid tier but Xian makes him shine.
I could go on for ages, tier lists and tournament placings only have a small correlation.
The main reason why Makoto isn't a strong tournament character is because having to take risks isn't a good thing in a BO3 double elimination format.
Being able to outplay your opponent on a fundamental level by using a basic zoning/frametrap game is much less risky.

I honestly think he's the best 3S player in the world now that Kuroda just trolls with Oro all the time instead of using Q. I'm pretty sure Tominaga is the only pro 3S player that can land the double S2 combo with Makoto. Every other MA just seems to use S1 now. He's on a whole other level to most players.

How can you land fukiage after the tsurugi juggle? Does it need to be kara'd.
You have to kara and cancel that last hit of the super. It's like chun lis super which let's you cancel the last kick into super jump so you can get 1 or 2 more hits.

The Kara needs to move her backwards so the second one is spaced right after the dash. Doesn’t work on chun (there’s another variation for her)and doesn’t stun Hugo and Alex.

I watch a lot of daigo notice he only good parrying some super and hard could parry special moves and basic hits but this guy tominaga parry almost everything anyway daigo aint shit anymore. theres no such thing as a professional player its all luck. when the luck run out you lose almost constantly. do you know what that mean??? it mean when the luck has exhausted nothing go right meaning shit I dont believed this I lost thats what daigo is feeling like mike Tyson for example. remember there is no such thing as a professional players only luck beside I dont think daigo is all that great. a person playing a projectile character is a chump

Roo is not a practitioner of traditional karate like Makoto is, he practices "shotokan karate" which translates from japanese to "gay karate". Makoto uses the good karate while Roo is the user of gay karate

Without Super Chun is still a monster poker and footsie but she’s not nearly as lethal. It’s her super confirm off of cr. med k that makes her such a terror in the game. It’s the best confirm in the entire game.
