Today's story: Thousands of Boeing machinists are back on picket lines in Everett and Renton this morning, considering a new contract proposal from Boeing that the company hopes will end the 12-day strike.
But the question remains if it is enough to address decades of mounting economic pressure on Boeing workers in this region.
Washington Post Transportation reporter Ian Duncan explains how things got to this point.

Last time I checked (sept '23) Boeing had 50 billion in the pension fund and the CIO got an award for minimizing Boeing's exposure at a rate of being 94% solvent. Why does nobody research/report this information?

This guy has the manager spark notes of the contracts that Boeing is offering. Yes they promised to build the next plane in the puget sound... but importantly that is only if it happens in the next 4 years, that is absolutely not going to happen in 4 years. It was in both offers as well, not only the newest one.

Way off the mark in summary. The contract offer was not through the union there will be no vote as it wasn’t a negotiated offer.

This strike will force Boeing to move all production out Washington.

Moving Production means all salary jobs will be gone as well.

Good luck finding and training the workers with the skills for it.
There's not that many people that can donit. Same reasons plumbers charge $150/hour in seattle now now lol.

....do you really think they would move all production out of Wa? Wouldn't happen. And all the vendors that are around this area aren't able to just up and move with them.
Do some research before you spout nonsense

If Boeing was "just" building McDonald's Happy Meal toys and vending machine trinkets, you might be correct. Nobody's going to build a factory for Boeing, for FREE...

They don’t have to move. All they have to do is go chapter 11 and let go all employees, another investigator buys Boeing, renames company, rehires employees back without the union at a much much lower salary. Pretty simple.
