I have been binge watching all your 100+ videos last week, for 3 days in a row.. Amanda’s dry wit and Lincoln becoming a debonair Francophone is such a joy to watch and I must admit I am addicted to your channel, especially since in every room there is a cat showing up, whom clearly are the real owners of your chateau. I am a cat mum of 7 as well, so this is like watching what my life looks like on a daily basis! 😂
I am in the process of buying an apartment in a 300 year old Italian palazzo, and hope to share my journey here on YT one day soon too, so your journey is really inspiring! 🧑🏼‍🎨❤👨🏻‍🎨

Those winding stairs are lovely and dramatic! I would put a large pot on the floor, filled with tall dried grasses/flowers from your garden 😊. That way, you could draw the eye to the stairs without adding something heavy, or too much clutter. Also gives you the ability to change out the dried flowers with the seasons, in your copious spare time!

One suggestion for under stairs is a series of drawers, built in to look like a wall, but suitable for storage. Perhaps cookware, electrical appliances, pots and pans, dishes etc, or stuff that you don't want on show. Part could also include an electrical cupboard for using the toaster, food mixer, etc. If painted a neutral colour to match the walls then the structure of the stairs is still a focal point in the room. Good luck!

Architect of 75 kitchens here. May I suggest, from the door end to the stairs: Fridge (tuck it right into that wall at the right and it will disappear), 54" of counter, sink, 54" counter, stove. Continue the counter under the stairs - that will be a great spot for some wonderful "feature" item and some lighting - you do that so well - even a little Christmas tree. The spot next to the stair will likely be your "landing strip" for things when you come hoe or are readying things to leave the next day. Also, get a regular size dishwasher, you have the room and you will use this for more than 2 people like for events. And YES = display shelves across the counter for plates. All the base cabinets should be drawers - 27" wide cabinets are the perfect size for all needs, plates as well as pans. If I had some measurements, I'd draw it up for you.

Kitchen - Where are you going to keep the vacuum cleaner, mop, broom, coats, boots etc, etc. Makes sense to think about the understairs space. Construct panels for the outside of the staircast so that it matches the cabinets. The washer and dryer can be part of the little room upstairs or maybe put in the bathroom. We have a heat pump in our NY upstate house. We have had it run all winter and it is keeping our four bedroom house warm. In the summer it is an air conditioner. Good luck!

You can use the building rubble to create the stable under layer for the area you want to gravel. It helps with drainage and will save some euros on the amount of gravel you will need to put on top.
I did it with my building rubble and a small pond that accumulates after rain us gone after 1 hour. Also saves fuel ant trips to the dump...

Hard work pays off...great job so far...the cottage is going to look perfect with your antique finds ( I absolutely love the sink & stove/oven ❤❤❤). The nook under the stairs looks like a cupboard/pantry space in my opinion - as a continuation of the galley style kitchen. WHAT A GORGEOUS CHÂTEAU PROPERTY!

Love the plans guys and Lincoln watch where you step because that first step is a doozy! I have a suggestion since your thinking of putting in a wood burning stove, maybe pour self leveling concrete and only dig the specific spots where plumbing pipes will be buried, idk if you're putting in mesh electric or radiant heating that will also determine thickness of pour. Thanks for sharing...

You two work very hard, and what seemed to be a temporary kitchen for you has developed some what🤣🤣🙆‍♀️🤣 but it will look great once done. An idea for under the stairs could be Enzo’s bed space??? Great sense of humour from you both btw.

If you don’t have plans for a broom closet, the area under the stairs would be a good place, I would recommend closing it in. As far as the bathroom goes, you have plenty of room to enlarge it to include a bath and a shower both. You may not eat a bath, but others staying in it may like to have a soak from traveling or visiting. Hugs from Texas!

I see your master plan! Keep the girls on the homestead but with their own space. Or, you are going to have the most beautiful home for wayward cats that has ever been created.

The vision you put together is very country French and can't wait to see the wood burners glowing and the stove in action. Love you all including your animals.

Love the design inspiration photos and the now clean cottage. So much potential! Watch the dishwasher door doesn’t compete with the front door….and look forward to how you guys get that sink up and out and into the cottage…Lincoln, be careful!

I find your videos both entertaining and relaxing. How do you and Lincoln have seemingly an endless amount of energy with your projects! The rubble clean up would’ve taken me days with a lot of icy hot and pain relievers. I am amazed and impressed. Please keep giving us these great videos.

I'm loving the kitchen layout. Can a small closet be added under the stairs next to the fridge to store mops, brooms & vacuum?

The area under the stairs could be used for cleaning supplies, vacuum, broom etc, and trash cans.

Flat Dollies for moving sink. I have an upright piano sitting on 3. It makes moving things so much easier.

The cottage will be beautiful. Lincoln, you are lucky you didn't fully fall through that soft spot. I remember you taking that old bar out and thinking, that will do you in. You guys have gutted that place out well. Under the stairs could be a nice nook to cozy up with a book while waiting for meals to cook. Perhaps even a shelf unit for pots and pans with doors on it. Just a couple of ideas. Maybe even a small larder? ❤
