bet I fish Dresden and have used it to secure 3 - 1st place and a 2nd place this year. I been to the bay twice once without my boat and once with. It's fun and they just keep eating.

they really slowed down, they are all small mouth fishing now. We were fishing almost every other weekend when Jon and Ethan mom passed which closed the bait store she was running. Then the freq of tournaments have slowed down. Do you still live in Dresden? I could really use someone to help me setup my helix 7 for river use.

Really surprised you didn't catch any sheephead! Unless those were edited out. Ohio state record sheephead came out of the bay. 23lbs if I remember correctly. Those were some really nice channels! CAN'T BELIEVE HE CAUGHT 2 AT ONE TIME!!!!! CRAZINESS!!!!!!!

@chrissouders Maybe you can answer this. What’s the difference between the greenish channels and the gray ones? Around my way the gray ones get bigger. One guy told me the greenish ones are “white” catfish? The gray are channels. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Great show, awesome channel cat fishing. Lipping that big male at the end while he's steady biting down on that thumb and with that muscled up head and you never flinched. You the man.

How big of a boat and motor you need for Sandusky Bay?

    • @mattshort3240
      @mattshort3240 4 ปีที่แล้ว

A 14 foot and a 9.9 can handle most days in the bay

    • @SergioRodriguez-oh1dp

I probably won’t go on anything smaller then 16 footer , the bay can get rough very quick , definitely check the wheather before you go in.

Mikey, I know this is an older post, but for anyone reading. My dad fished a bass tourney on Presque isle bay several years back (I know this is about Sandusky, but they are similar in that they are both bays off of lake Erie). He runs a 19 foot bass boat.
Were busy catching bass , it was calm, no wind, turned around to look back behind them and realized that there was a storm on the horizon.
In the 2 or 3 minutes it took for them to put the rods away and get moving , they realized they were in trouble. The storm was coming across the bay, they had just started the motor and got moving when the wind hit them, he said it went from dead flat to 3' -4' rolling whitecaps in seconds.
They nosed the boat across the bay, my brother held a jacket in front of my dad so he could drive, the waves were breaking over the boat faster than the bilge pump could keep up.
He ended up just running the boat up onto the beach, said when he beached the boat he got out and got down on his hands and knees to kiss the ground. Scaredest he has ever been.
Point of all that is....BE CAREFUL OUT THERE. Fresh water waves build way quicker than saltwater. The weather can turn on a dime and Lake Erie and its bays have taken many a fishermens lives.
If you are asking how big the boat needs to be, you definitely need to be watching the weather. I fish a 16' flat bottom river boat. If the wind is forecasted to be 10 mph or over....i stay out of the big water. Thats a HARD RULE for me and its kept me alive.
The couple times that I pushed it, I regretted it and I am lucky to be here to tell.
      Be safe out there y'all.

When I saw you hook that bait through the belly like that, i knew you would miss a fish . Never hook your bait where it can easily hook back into itself.. Easy way to miss a fish of a lifetime, or cost you money in a tourney.

Want some intelligent advice? Don’t go buying all the fancy equipment and gear and then go out and expect to wear the catfish out like this on your first hole. You will be let down. This is hours of footage edited into a short period of time. Plus rn the catfish spawn is going on so it’s gonna be even harder to find catfish.
