Aw so cute they are but they are also a bit aggressive (I get they just are trying to eat/survive). These birds really remind me of those Dinosaur type of birds.
The fat one in front got a lot of the food, chick on the left not so much. I zoomed in and couldn't tell, they were frantic beaks in all directions, still, afterward tubby in front got the most. The most aggressive chick gets the most food.
I always say all baby animals, of whatever kind, are cute and beautiful. However, these baby birds are really ugly and poor mother they are so greedy!😆
Yes, those can be hard to take. By instinct, they expend all that work to feed them, then instinct tells them to toss off 3 or 4 out of 5 out of the nest, and they've gotten pretty big by then, I'm guessing after at least 40 to 50 days? Is that right? I saw 1 vid where it tossed ALL the chicks out of the nest. Unbelievable! I wondered if I had missed something, like 1 getting away maybe?? Incredible that the bird lives with that conflicting, on/off switch of conflicting instincts. Must be a self-preservation factor, parents have to build fat reserves for their migrations of thousands of miles, yes? But why is there no instinct that governs the cranes to lay fewer eggs, like 3, with one "insurance" egg. The chicks spend quite a lot of time on the nest, 70 days? or more? They must have to build up muscle strength and fat. reserves. These birds don't do that, but you can expect some mortality in nestlings of all birds. Larger chicks pecking the weaker bird or birds to the point of killing them, and occasionally feeding that bird to the others.
Wow amazing 👍
Many many thanks

Their behavior is what prompts the parent to regurgitate.

It's as if the chicks have just come out of the bathroom. They look as if they are dressed in bath robes.
Oh like that
They are being naked 😆

Because they are small
Small because they're young.

They look at their mother come back
Father or mother, as long as they've got grub, chicks are waiting. I've also seen male feeding female to take to the nest.

But no baby is as ugly as baby Frieda.

There were five chicks. Why only 3 here
No, the nest is different
What species of bird is that?
Heron
Heron, these shorter Herons also called Bitterns, (picking on the little guys again).
So simple nest.. no effort
Yes, thanks
Случайно увидела ролик, где аисты убивают своих детей... И теперь боюсь смотреть ролики про птенцов и родителей...
Not all birds are the same
