I have to disagree. This is one of the best records I’ve heard this year. It’s different from his early music but that shouldn’t take away from it. I’m more upset with a 6 minute review than the 5 score. This completely changed my view in my taste of music. It’s a great fusion of rap and jazz, some of the messages might be awful, but the guy makes great music. He falls short on some things but makes up for it with the flow. I agree completely this album could cut some shit out but I still loved this thing man.
It's probably my second least favourite Busdriver album ever (my least favourite being Beaus$Eros and my favourite being Jhelli Beam) Also saying that Memoirs Of The Elephant Man is really good and exciting seems to be a very contreversial opinion
But every thing he said was super valid. Some of those bars are trash with a silly delivery. His singing really does get old after an hour. If he had edited the album and only kept the solid parts, I'd agree.
Love this album. Might be the most jazzy rap album I've ever heard, like holy shit. It's so varied, so insane, so fun. Haven't really gotten too much into the lyrics yet, but the sound is amazing to me
It was a day like any other. Anthony Fantano, the Internet’s busiest music nerd, was hard at work listening to music that he was to review. It was sunny, and slightly humid, so he had left his shirt off for the day. His girlfriend was dealing with an emergency at work. But all of a sudden, Anthony heard a knock at his door. His muscles rippled as he got up from his desk chair. He slowly walked to the door… He saw a dark silhouette through the window. “I wonder who that could be…?” Anthony wondered. He slowly opened the door. And, to his great surprise, his biggest idol was standing before him… MC Ride. Or as his friends call him, Stefan. MC Ride peeked in the doorway, and said, “H-hey… um I don’t know if you know me… b-but I’m in a band and our van broke down about a half mile back… I w-was hoping you had some tools laying around…” Now, although Anthony had always loved Death Grips and their music, he tried to play it cool. After all, he kind of had a crush on Stefan ever since he heard his voice on Beware. Luckily, Anthony had a big shed in his back yard full of his dad’s old mechanic tools. Anthony smiled, and replied, “Sure… I recognize you. What band again? Deaf grapes or something?” “N-no… Death Grips…” answered MC Ride. Anthony laughed. “ha-ha, that’s right! just come on in! I could definitely give you a tool to use…” He led MC Ride to his back yard. On the way, He could feel Ride’s gaze on him. He wondered if he liked what he saw. He opened the door to the shed, and Ride quickly shuffled in to grab what he needed. “He’s even cuter in real life…” Thought Anthony. On the way back, Anthony hastily offered Ride a beer. “Hey man, want to have a beer? You seem like a cool dude.” “Well… Zach and Andy are waiting for me… but I guess a quick beer wouldn’t hurt I guess.” Mumbled Ride. At first, they sat awkwardly in Fantano’s living room. But then they started talking about Death Grips and other music. They were soon off on a riveting conversation. After a while, Anthony said; “hey… I haven’t really been honest with you Stefan… Can I call you that? To tell the truth, I know a lot about Death Grips. I’m pretty much your biggest fan.” “Ha-ha… Yes I know… and I have to confess something too. I watch almost all of your video reviews. Y-you could say that I’m your biggest fan.” Anthony then did something very risky. He laid his hand on Stefan’s leg, right above the knee. Their eyes met, and the next thing Anthony knew, their lips were locked and they were lying on the couch together. “Can Andy and Zach wait?” asked Anthony. Ride’s response was to continue kissing him. They made out like this for a few minutes, and then Ride started slowly moving down to Anthony’s private area, kissing his beautiful chest on the way down. “Please” whispered Anthony. MC Ride slowly unbuttoned Anthony’s black shorts. Anthony’s rock hard penis sprang up, and MC Ride started sucking it off. It was the best blowjob of Anthony’s life. Far better than any blowjob his girlfriend had ever given him. The way Stefan’s tongue moved… it was amazing. “Ohhhh Stefan… I think I want you to do the nasty in my taxi!” yelled Anthony. “I AM THE BEAST YOU WORSHIP” replied MC Ride as he took Anthony’s cock out of his mouth. Anthony bent over on the couch, and got on his knees. Ride undid his all-black jeans, and revealed his lengthy penis. He started to put his throbbing penis into Anthony’s butt, when all of a sudden, “IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES YUUHHHH!!!!!” “Oh my God!!” screamed Anthony. “You get-get-get-get got-got-got-got it in!” MC Ride wasn’t a tender lover. He pumped and pumped until finally, in euphoria, he came inside of Anthony’s butt. He withdrew, exhausted, and laid down next to Anthony, who had reached orgasm as well. “H-how was it?” Asked Stefan. “you’re good…” Whispered Anthony. Whispered Anthony. “I liked your lovemaking. I would give you a strong six, light seven.”
Please listen to anything by Milky Chance. They've got a huge following, millions of monthly streams, and I personal really enjoy their music. In all honesty I'm surprised you haven't reviewed anything by them yet, but yeah. I think they're good, but I would still love to hear what you have to say about them.
Thoughts on 1010 Benja SL? Only two tracks out right now, Wind up space and Boofiness but man I'm amazed he's getting slept on. I implore everyone to check out these tracks!
Thank you for reviewing this; it'd been out for a while and I'd been craving your thoughts. Bloated as it may be, there are still some wonderful tracks here.
Disagree with the rating...I think melon flannel death boi sometimes comes into listening to fresh albums with the wrong frame of mind sometimes...this album was no exception. Electricity is on our side is a top tier album. Very forward thinking, and I hope that other musicians take note of his creative flow, and seemingly fearless approach to throwing things into his songs.
To be honest it sounds like you actually don't understand the music for this one. You also just sorta take for granted the talent and songwriting on the album, dismissing it as "complex". That being said, I'm glad you actually took a shot at reviewing it since this album deserves more exposure.
Is there a chance you could look at any of the Empire of the Sun albums? They've made some pretty clingy synth-pop over the years with some of the best licks I've heard in the pop industry and I think it would be interesting to hear you talk about them.
It is a very tough album to listen to, I can admit that. Honestly, I stopped after "Me vs Me" which is both the best song and midway point. It is a very long, very zany and very *atmospheric* album (ala Kid Koala - Music to Draw To). It is no Fear of a Black Tangent, but it does try its damndest to experiment by merging electronic trip-hop with clubhouse jazz.
Could you review Addendum by John Maus please, Melon Man? I need to hear more about him, because I feel that he's underrated due to his bizarre music composition that most people will first hear and think it's TOO out there. He's just a genius that makes music beyond the norm and that is what I like about him.
You should review DenRock's "Scratching the Surface" or/and his freshman release "Back 2 the Essence". I have come to really appreciate your critiques and find you mostly spot on on your assessments of music. I've also been exposed to some great albums that I would likely have never encountered watching your channel. Thank you. Hope you have the time to check him out- I think it's DOPE.
Hello mr. Melon I'm new to channel I like what you do I just want to know if you would be willing to give a review on an indie rapper known as Oddisee I like his music and I would love to hear what you think about it
I read some of the comments on your video and I noticed the people calling melon I really hope you don't think it's an insult in case you happen to read this
Something always bothered me about fantano and I finally realized what it is. Hes just very condescending in his reviews. He talks from a standpoint as if he is superior at writing music. Just say you dislike it without acting like an album is a national tragedy.
Good review, but your comments that black people didn't invent electricity and don't deserve to use it were uncalled for. Also please refrain from using the 'n-word' and telling busdriver to sit at the back of the bus.
Good comment, Angus, but could you please keep your racist views to yourself? I think you saying all "moon crickets" should be euthanized is going too far.
seymourglass26 it's a popular meme to write comments in Anthony Fantano's comments section in which we pretend that he said something alt-right. He's not serious my dude.
None if his albums will ever beat roadkill overcoat for me. The rest if his discography is a hundred individual songs that i enjoy sperately, but i dont expect another cohesive project from driver. Ill just be pleasantly surpised if im wrong.
Anthony fantano calls himself death note because he thinks he has the power to turn any rapper on suicide watch with the red flannel. Keep asking question, we know better
Oh shit, he admits it!!! His reviews fucking kill people!!! I kinda agree with the review. At first I liked the album, and then I got bored and discovered I was a little under halfway through.
I watched the Death Note live action drama. Heard that the anime and manga are good, but it's too late for me seeing as I already got wrapped up in the live action and it's spoiler-ness. Reading the Wikipedia's Plot and Themes sections I'm interested in how its depiction of a type of totalitarian regime results in low crime, but increased zealotry. Maybe in the future we can have an aboveboard global regime based on eugenics and absolute individual moral relativism. Or maybe we can just keep fighting over politics and religion. If there was only one human, there'd be only one human worldview. But that one human might chew their nails.
This album is fuckin amazing, one of the most overwhelming psychedelic albums ever made. Certainly a unique hip hop album. I'll bet fantano only listened to it once, this is a really shallow take on the grand scope of this album. The main thing is it's just fun to listen to in a way that only shit like Zappa or ween is. AGREED! Though I believe the messages weresupposed to be ''awful'' showing the irony between entertainment and lifestyle.
THANK YOU!!!! Yeah, this Fantano rating… NOT GOOD
I think you'll find this album much more disturbing if you listen to the hidden track at the end of perfect hair.
I agree wholeheartedly
@@matthewhaggerty7963 what do you mean by that?
I was gonna make an "always thank the bus driver" joke, but it turns out that's literally every comment.
Well I mean, you have to thank him.

Filip K ya not so sure bout that one Ant’ny

An 80-minute album gets a 7-minute review that's nearly two months late?
It's Busdriver
the album is amazing too he only gave it a 5…
Gonna have to respectfully disagree with you on this one Tony. One of my favorite rap records of the year.
Nucc yes
It’s AOTY
This asshole gave that trash kanye album a 10 though
Hot Dog eh, it's not trash at all. But it's just not that exciting
It's probably my second least favourite Busdriver album ever (my least favourite being Beaus$Eros and my favourite being Jhelli Beam)
Also saying that Memoirs Of The Elephant Man is really good and exciting seems to be a very contreversial opinion
Big fat respectful disagree on this one. Really vibed with this album tbh.
But every thing he said was super valid. Some of those bars are trash with a silly delivery. His singing really does get old after an hour. If he had edited the album and only kept the solid parts, I'd agree.
seymourglass26 Different strokes I guess
It’s a no skip album. He had valid points, but I loved it from front to back.
he said towards the end that he can see how a heavy driver fan could love this album
yeah this album is literally so amazing
5's should be Orange flannel imo
Yeah stop misleading us Anthony
U sure know better
Giving him a 5 isn’t really thanking the bus driver
Love this album. Might be the most jazzy rap album I've ever heard, like holy shit. It's so varied, so insane, so fun. Haven't really gotten too much into the lyrics yet, but the sound is amazing to me
