I used your link, really appreciate your videos, getting the note air 3, this is my first e - ink. I'm based in Denmark and would like to say that this boox eu store offered a more competitive price (by including the tips and cover) in their bundle than any other distributor. Hopefully no hidden costs creep up!
Which one is best for writing? Could you do a video that focuses on that then goes on to explore the other parts? Thanks

I got to hand it to remarkable for their marketing because, it's from their bombardment of ads that I looked into E ink and I bought myself a Supernote Nomad 😂
Same lol
A year ago, I had no idea any of these existed. I "inherited" a reMarkable 2 when my boss retired, and after using it for a while, I said "I wish I could read ebooks on this." Found out that there was a whole breed of ereaders that allowed you to write in your books, and I had to have one. Started looking at the Scribe, but I want to write on the actual pages, not in a separate note. Moved on to the Kobo Elipsa, but I'm too invested in the Kindle ecosystem for books. Found the Boox Note Air 3 series, and that has it all - including support for the Android version of Logos. I'll be getting mine in a couple weeks, and I'm really looking forward to it. Your videos have been a HUGE help as I venture into the world of e-ink.
I saw the Note Air 3 series, too, and this channel really got me interested with the in-depth guides. The only issue I've seen, which led me to get a Bigme Pocketnote 2 from Amazon, is the lack of customer support and customer service from Boox and Bigme, directly. Quality control issues galore, so I would definitely buy some aftermarket insurance for your device. Just in case.
as a boox tab mini-c owner I love mine for reading and note taking. I hope you end up the same way
you can actually use your remarkable as an ebook tho. You can download books as pdf files and then export to your tablet, and also draw and write on them.
You’re spot-on with the reMarkable comments. Bringing one of those into a meeting draws a person in for sure. I think they’re a subscription company as a person has to pay to keep their notes once the storage is full. 😅
Glad to see updates on these products still being made!
Thanks for these comparison videos and your in-depth reviews of the different options.
I've had my Boox Air Note 3C for about a month now and it is fantastic. I haven't used my filofax or work notebooks since buying it, it has been that seemless to switch over to.
The decider for me between the products was that the Boox devices link with a wider ecosystem. MS OneNote across my PC, phone and tablet is proving to be a great productivty tool for me. Kindle reader and a newspaper app are also useful.
Thanks, I'm so glad that I could be of help. I am starting to bring more use case based videos so that hopefully my channel will continue to be of use to you now that you have made your decision. For me it is the same reason that I am so fond of the Boox devices.
This is basically my use case too so good to know. I currently use an iPad which works great but has hard to resist distractions and £500 is a lot of cash to separate work from ill discipline. Keep up the good work with your vids Kit.
Thank you so much. I have been searching for a guide like this and am so grateful for your time, effort, and candor with this video! Thanks so so so much!
The biggest argument for Boox air 3, form me, is the handwriting recognition software. It is incredibly good.
Got a tab mini c because: colour; size; android. I use it 90% for note taking in OneNote so that I have my notes syncd everywhere. Just love it.
Whatsup man. I just wanted to say that I really liked this vid.
I've had my Remarkable 2 for almost a year and I loved it when it first came out but I think there organization system is just all over the place. Also it doesn't do split screen and the no back light is making me look for a better one
Thank you Kit! Great video! I currently have the Kindle Scribe, which I love, and I am seriously considering the Note Air 3C for its color display as well as the split-screen functionality, thanks to your review and opinion of this great device! Your reviews of all the devices are always extremely helpful in getting me to learn everything I need to know about them! Thank you again Kit!
I really love my Note Air 3c. It answers my most important needs.
Glad to hear it works out for you! Which are your top requirements please?
@@KitBetts-Masters 1) I write but it is best to get all my ideas out in handwritten form. I only use typing to edit. 2) I love reading on paper devices and this device lets me easily interface with Calibre to get my entire library in one app as opposed to going multiple places. 3) Like writing, I am better at keeping my calendar and project planning in written form and I find traditional planners (Franklin Covey) unwieldy. 4) While writing I can listen to my mood playlists using the Musicolet app. 5) I can do all this sitting in direct sunlight. 6) All in one device which means no more overloaded purses full of pens, notebooks, planners, etc.
Ultimately this is my primary device over my laptop and iPad. I’m still an early user, but I plan on learning more ways for it to make my life easier.
And I can go on. For instance One Drive, SD card availability, color for drawing and books with illustrations, audio books on Graphic Audio and Audible…
I was fairly recently intrigued by the reMarkable2 and started a research journey on if it was a device that would enhance my life/creativity and found your videos. I've now watched a fair amount of your vids on e-ink (along with some other creators) and decided that the A5X is the one for me. However, I'm a bit bummed I probably (exitedly) have to wait for the A5X2.
I just want to thank you for your content and the insights that have helped me make an informed decision.
Thank you for your wonderful video! I'm a Ph.D. student and must read many scientific papers in PDF format. I have wanted to buy an e-ink tablet for a long time, as spending many hours reading these papers on my laptop's screen has been harsh on my eyes. Since these papers have a lot of figures and graphs, I want to buy a color e-ink tablet like the Boox Note Air 3C. Do you think this tablet is good enough for this purpose? Or do you have any other suggestions? Also, if we have to turn on the backlight on these color e-ink screens to make them more legible, doesn't it defeat the main advantage of eye-friendly screens? I don't want too many bells and whistles - just a tablet to read and take notes.
That is exactly my need too. PDF, web browsing and notes. I used to be an academic and now work in a very intense commercial setting as an adviser constantly flipping between looking up data on the web, research reading and note taking. I do that transition hundreds of times a day on a laptop with 10 jobs, email, Teams and plus a big black hardback notebook and biro too. I have no office and I carry the whole thing with me in a bag. I need a slim E Ink tablet but it needs to integrate with my laptop too. Not sure we are quite there yet for my needs in these devices - I need a powerful productivity tool that is seamless.
Same, looking for PDF capability with the ability to highlight in colors and write directly on the PDF as well as note taking capability
Always interesting to see comparisons and the inclusion of devices you wouldn’t necessarily recommend right now but which might move higher in time.
I like my Scribe but want the note taking features of the Note Air 3.
I didn’t know there will be Supernote A5 Slim 😮. Can you elaborate more about it. I’m waiting for A5 X2 this spring. But if the Slim is cheaper and has Kindle, Kobo, and note-taking feature then I might wait for this (or not if I became impatient watching videos for years now just to buy a note-taking ereader).
For now, I’ll keep enjoying reading on my Kobo Libra 2. 😊
Thanks for the list. Boox Air 3C is making me to want a coloured ereader.
Companies need to understand that I won’t spend that much money on regular old paper in a LIFETIME, and paper doesn’t break or get obsolete
They’re not worried about you.
you’re not the target market/ never were/ will be
Yeah, fair point, but I think many people who would buy this will buy premium notebooks and probably spend this in about 5 years. Also, for many, the ability to have unlimited pages all in one place is worthwhile.
Hello thank you for this video (and love the voice) Where are the 10 listing products exactly I did not get out on your description. Thank you 👍
Will there be a comparision between note air 3 and note air 2+?
And will there be a software update for toggeling the BSR on note air 3 c?
I am autistic and looking for a 7.8 so I can write a question or answer one , to help me communicate, I’m also dyspraxic? I have a colour e-reader, and just want good note taking.
I'd really like your opinion on the Bigme Pocketnote 2 (B751) and Pocketnote 2 Color (B751C) and the whole 7-inch e-note wave we'll probably see in the coming year.
I want to replace my paper notebook with a device I can use at work as automation engineer for taking notes MAINLY in OneNote on site at the machines to be able to access them later also on a laptop in the office. Which means I need the written to text function. Having the notes in text, I can than manage my notes on the PC quite nicely but carrying even a laptop is sometimes not what I want to do. If I chose the BOOX Note Air 3 C will it work well with the OneNote? I organize my notes quite simply, I add a section with a name of the machine and then write everything chronologically on one page with a date.
What about bigme color X? Better than the bigme color plus lite
how about RAM and ROM. It is not really much for nowadays, I think. Can you still use and be happy at work, studying, writing and drawing? Or is it after a while quickly full and super slow? Really thinking for a while now, but this is just one thing I am not sure if it would be a good decision now or shall I wait? hmmm....
First of all, thanks for the detailed reviews and comparisons. I have one question you might be able to answer. Is there any device where I can take my handwritten notes, convert them to text and export/save this as a docx/doc file for editing on my computer? Otherwise, how do you share work between desk computer and the tablet while still beeing able to edit the file on both devices? Thx
Hey, one question... why do you keep suggesting Kindle Scribe because of its price? In amazon, the cheapest version is currently USD. I think they lost the only advantage, right?
Hola gracias por tu video.quiero una de 10” que tenga color y que sea Android también quiero que tenga brillo para leer en la oscuridad…cuál me recomiendas
Problem is… Supernote is out of stock more often than not…
Even A5x2 release is delayed…
The top 6 models, do they have their own built-in voice to text transcriptions apps? As a student, I really need this features he he.
Out of these, if I wanted to get an e tablet that has the absolute best writing experience, which one would you get? I was leaning toward the a6x but now I see their are some just as good
Is it possible to write thinner and smaller. no one annotate the paper that big
Thanks for the info Kit.
I’ve decided to give the Boox Note Air 3 C a go!
I feel like it may need a companion type setup with Supernote Nomad for just Note taking work.
What?! If there are 10 best ones, there must be a whole lot of them now. I'm waiting to see what the reMarkable 3 will be.
Does Supernote have Android work profile like the Note Air?
Is the bigme colour included kindle reader? Thanks;)
Boox note Air c Number 1 ? Mnnm …. What about Battery life ?
I bought a Remarkable 2 months ago over supernote because the size was better A6x is not a functional size- as a writer and artist with stacks of notebooks and scheduler- the remarkable has been a game changer- I don’t want to be on my laptop all day that’s work- remarkable is my new notebook and scheduler and books I have 3 books on it that I read daily so for traveling I have 1 thing instead of 4 books and writing in it is divine
Do you need to pay for some subscription monthly?
@@Ricardosv1 you don’t have to I bought the remarkable on their site for 299 and that came with a year of their back up stuff but u can buy it for 275 I believe without that- I might have bought supernote if it was the bigger size but it’s not available and I love the remarkable- yes there are some functional limitations but I don’t love being online and I love writing - so for me it replaces notebooks, planners, some sketchbooks I still use real art materials but this goes with me everywhere and I have my Bible on it and a few other books - that was a hassle figuring out how to do that but it’s doable and I’m not techy, I’m able to edit chapters of my book but I have to go back to the laptop and make them formal but I’m good with that
@@Ricardosv1 you don’t have to- one their website u can buy just the tablet for like 275 or something like that or with a year of their added stuff for 299
It seems that Onyx offers Note x2 and Note x3. What’s the difference between those and their Air devices?
I think that these are just different naming conventions for the Boox devices in the chinese market.
Hello Kit - I'm a 70 yr. old novice to e ink tablet/notebooks! I was excited when I stumbled on the Remarkable 2 as I want a note taker coupled with sketch book as I am writing a book. Where I am confused, is what to buy that covers my needs - I want to be able to have chapters - put my hand notes onto the notepad so I have some kind of order and be able to put them into text form which the remarkable seems to oblige - but you mentioned something about not being able to search for something - as I am writing a family history I want to be able to search my notes for names/dates/places for example in my notes to cross refer...can you advise me. I have been reading reviews and went to Curry's for help but got nowhere!! Wrinkly damsel in distress!
Hehe! Thanks, I think you'd get on well with the remarkable, but you'd need to remember to "tag" your names and dates as you write. It is super easy to use though!
The Supernote is the other I'd recommend for you, and you could write in a real time handwriting conversion notebook and be able to search through everything that you write. It's a little more complicated to use but not a massive steep learning curve. The only thing is you might find the A6 X2 a little small, and be best to wait for A5 X2. :-).
Hope that helps a little!
@@KitBetts-Masters Thank you so much you are a sweetheart for getting back so quickly and love all your information and tips. Will check out both -👌
How is web browsing on the Tab X?
Video ended quite abruptly 😊
Do new onyx boox devices require a screen protector? I just received the Ultra C Pro tab, and the screen has multiple pinholes. I've had the note air 2 for few years and the screen still in perfect shape after many leds. Just curious if you have any thoughts or suggestions and or if anyone has had the same issue. I've reached out to their customer support, but just curious. Thank you for all of your reviews which helped me decide to upgrade my device.
Hello, no it shouldn't need a screen protector. There's one pre applied, although you may like a matte, paper feeling one, from e.g. doodroo.
Pinholes, I guess you mean blank pixels, i.e. that are always white? I think it is normal to have a few, but if there are many and they are in the middle of the screen Boox should replace it I think. Cheers.
personally, I would avoid platforms where the company makes things subscription-based. The big river company and the noteworthy one come to mind.
I don’t understand your emphasis on web browser performance, when we are talking about e-ink tablets. If someone wants a web browsing device, they shouldn’t be buying an e-ink tablet. This should be solely focussed on note taking performance, and eBook / pdf reading capabilities.
😂😂😂 Web option is a must in today’s world for many people
@@zainzoala1083 Yep, I guess web browser is a must have distraction for many people. In which case a general tablet would serve them better. Some of us want to write, or read an eBook or PDF, on a device that doesn't have distracting temptations.
His video, his choice 🤷🏻
@@jackburtoncantsavelopan My comment, my feedback 🤷♂
That's what's important to him for his usage presumably
Not sure about privacy as boox is a chinese company
how are you man can you give gifts to followers ✍️ من معي في ذلك الأمر 👍
Those Eink as note takers are all laggy . All boox all Remarkable all and all are only one single thing - Laggy in hand write , pixilated , Low resolution ..
For handwriting IPad is king . And in IPad using Noteshelf 3 is the way to go . And in Noteshelf 3 the way to go is using the fountain pen ( it is more of a regular pen albeit the name fountain ) and under fountain pen you want sensitivity OFF ( but ON is also good) and 0.5 or 0.6 or 0.7 or 0.8 thickness options.
That is the best way to go for writing and I have tried them all - E ink and IPad. E ink is too laggy and pixilated for hand writing.
For tipping also IPad is exactly like typing on a computer using even the same office bundles .
Using Bluetooth pen is much more responsive quick the using any non Bluetooth pen . Bluetooth is a must for the pen not to be laggy .
Ipad uses Apple Pencil which is a Bluetooth pencil .
Also in Apple Pencil you can use the same tip for 10 years . With E ink the nib is becoming mushroom like and needed to be replaced every 2 weeks or so , even 1 week , and the writing experience which is not the best from the start has a ad decline slop as the nib gets worn so quickly . Also those E ink nibs needing fairly quick exchange is a huge cons.
IPad screen and ease and fluid work and color accuracy are vastly superior to any E ink.
iPad is the only way to go from any aspect.
lol >
The short answer is you are soooo wrong. But it's nice that you are happy with your choice, and do not have to do the reduction of cognitive dissonance by trying to convince everyone else that they are wrong. Good for you, good for you.
As someone with an iPad, had I known about boox I would have definitely went with it over the iPad pro. Writing is definitely not the greatest but is something that takes time to get use to. Just my opinion considering the different uses and price points.
@@shadiar8016
Hi.
May I ask, for drawing black and write cartoons do you think that a used Boox Note 2 for $200 is a good investment right now? Will it be usable for a few years?
Thanks very much.
