  • How to fix your cheap Amazon/eBay wiring harness that is back feeding voltage to your alternator and causing the one wire alternator Exciter wire to always be live and drain your battery even with the key turned off on your LS swap.
In my specific case, my exiter wire was almost always measuring 10 to 5 volts with the car on or off which then is energizing the alternator and telling it that it should charge the system, even with the car turned off. This led to my battery draining and me having to always keep the battery disconnected with a disconnect switch when not in use.
Turns out it's a pretty easy fix as long as you have a blue and red 411 PCM. This might apply to other wiring harnesses and other PCMs but this is my specific case. Pin number 10 on the Red PCM connector should power your tachometer with the engine on/running. Due to the way these cheap wire Harness fuse blocks are wired, the fuse that Powers your OBD2 port 24/7 back feeds voltage into the ECM through the tachometer wire. Disconnecting and taping off the tachometer wire from the ECM should prevent the back feeding into the ECU and to your exciter wire.
If you'd like your tachometer to work, you will have to separate the tachometer wire from the fuse block and keep it wired separately so it is not receiving 12 volt power all the time.
Hope this helps! Let me know in the comments if it does!
