Tata has adopted European standard of door lock mechanism for its door lock mechanism in cars for safety. At the time of accident everybody should get out of car as quickly as possible. So the previous electric central mechanism in which you were dependant on driver to release central lock. So at the time of accident if the driver is senseless or due to some faults in electronic locking mechanism, doors were not opening and passengers were dying due to non-opening of doors. Front co-driver seat is not for children and any responsible person should seat there. If you are putting any child into the car, seat her/him in rear seat and make on mechanical child lock. So earlier electrical central lock is discontinued. This is also the guideline of Central Government.

Tata may provide a sensor in case of an accident, but surely I personally don't like this lock mechanism. They have provided windows glass control to the driver but forget to provide door lock control to the driver. You may say this mechanism is for safety in case of an accident, but it is more prone to leads to accidents by this feature.

Bhai vo impact sensing door unlock hota hai 😂 , agar gadi kahi takra jaye to sensor sense karke apne aap gadi unlock kar dete hai uska matlab ye nahi ki gadi lock hi nahi hoti , kuch kuch gadiyon me gadi unlock hi nahi ho rahi hai to kya vo bhi feature hai 😂?
Khud thoda sense lagao gate unlock rehna bhot jyada unsafe cheez hai agar childlock laga bhi diya to vo pehli baat to inconvenient hai aur use andar se fir khol bhi nahi sakte hamesha bahar se driver ko bolke khulwana padta hai

The lock design is nice but surprisingly Tata didn't think of a master door lock. Definitely a safety hazard.

I know about this issue of Altroz door lock when it was launched and only because of this reason I am not purchasing this car. Otherwise I was 100% satisfied with this car. I cannot take risk with my loved one’s life.
It is so ironical that the safest Hatchback in India is creating fear because of its feature/ flaw. 😒
I don’t know why Tata did this. Maybe it is a rule made by our government but there are a lot of new cars getting launched with a specific traditional lock (like maruti, i20, etc) after Tata Altroz was launched. I think Tata also could have provided a specific door lock.
Tata altroz is a 5-star NCAP safety rated car. No car has a front door child lock. And children can easily open car door lock tabs. This car has child lock on both rear doors like every other car. So this is not a major safety issue. You can easily have the children stay in the back seat. And from a safety point of view, it is not recommended to have children travel in the front seat anyway.
@@ChintanPandya01 if opened accidentally by codriver, can pose risk to others vehicles or pedestrians. As high speeds it's really dangerous.

Mr. Tarun ! Please note that front seats are not meant for kids (even in india). We must make our kids sit in back seats with always seat belt fastened with child lock.
Back seat seatbelt is mandatory for all. In our office when the cabs depart, the security guards always perform a check and instruct even the back seat passengers to fasten seatbelts as it is for safety purpose

That's good that you dnt need the driver to unlock the door. You can can unlock the door by yourself... BUT, it should be a Two-step process. By pulling the lever just for once (accidentally) will not only unlock the door but also open the door as well, even if when the car is running. It is definitely a Flaw

How to fold Mirror In Tata Altroz while Driving?
I think, it is used to unlock the car from inside if you want to pickup up some one and they can open the door from outside. If you lock all door from inside, then person outside can't open the door.
It is dat type of lock which came in scorpio car earlier...

Well some techniques can be applied to reduce the flaws
1. If you have a child/senior citizen/pregnant lady always make them sit in the back seat with the child locks switched on. This will reduce the risk of sudden door opening
2. Seatbelt should always be fastened for all including back seat to reduce the chance of falling out even if the door is accidentally opened
3. The cabin light should be switched to "door" position so that if any of the doors are open and by chance the voice system is turned off, you can actually understand that maybe some door is not closed properly so the light is on
This is because they removed the central locking system to achieve 5 star rating in Global NCAP Crash Test .
When your vehicle is crashed, on one could open the door from outside due to the central locking mechanism.
So that Tata 's intelligent crash sensor automatically detect when your vehicle met with an accident and simultaneously all the door will unlock the system.
May be after two years the facelift version of altroz will get the central locking system same as happened now in nexon.

Also agree about the drawback that kids can open the lock directly... I understand this because my daughter used to open the door on our current car but because the lock was separate the door didn't opened... For rear we always used the child lock until this year when she finally is smart enough not to open the door unnecessarily...

This locking system is innovated for safety purpose which is followed by Tata in altroz only. If the vehicle will meet with an accident, these doors will open automatically.
This feature incorporated in safety by NCAP. The TATA is only manufacturer who follow this one.
This feature of impact sensing door unlock comes in all modern cars not just Tata. This feature isn't new and has been there for quite some time now. What is more dangerous till day is the seatbelts getting stuck after a bad accident. I personally carry some handy tools like seatbelt cutter and window glass breaker in my car always in case of emergencies. They sometimes come handy to save others life too.

This is not a flaw, it's as per new regulation, mechanical override , that door should be able to open without driver help irespectiveof central locking. See other vehicles like duster or ford's, VW's , that also same without extra thumb knob. Thanks Tata for providing lever which indicate lock position as well. Moreover children not allowed to travel on co driver seat.
