i learned a lot from you my friend and saved me lots of labor costs. i own three E46. i love your channel and Selena as well. keep it up making great videos. you are helping a lot of BMW enthusiasts including my self. i’m so glad you moved to Alhambra. it’s about 30 mins away from my place 👍 thank you...
Btw Ankur. I have a nice trick to not loosing a lot of brake fluid. When putting down the brake pedal by a piece of wood (protected) pushing against the front seat(all the way down), no break fluit will leak out. So it saves you break fluit and a lot of mess. And you don't have to hurry up by replacing the calliper. Very handy on a steel brake line change too....Dutch regards
Hi guys. Great video again. Maybe you can put in the comment that the smallest rim you can put on this breaks is 17" . Smaller will hit the calliper....
16" wheels are the smallest you can run on a 330ci. my winter set for my 03 330ci is 16x7.5 with a +35mm offset. tyres are 205/55R16 BLIZZAK WS80 square set up
I just learned this the hard way. After swapping the brakes. Now I have 1 week to find bigger rims before a track day! Please upvote this comment. It needs to be pinned!
can you explain why the rear brakes can't be done like this? well I mean i know that it causes the e-brake to not function properly because of its size. So I guess I would like to know if you can explain if there is a way to get the rear brakes upgraded to a 330i rotor while also keeping the e-brake function. Does the e-brake pads and assembly need to be swapped as well?
You go do the rear also? Isn't the camber plate in the front is also bigger by a 330i? I want to do the rear on my E46 2.2L to, do I need other arms with that or only the camberplate and E brake? You do good quality, to bad you won't live here, I would deffinatly bring my E46 with you. Thumbs up for you and ur girl!
I have a question I recently replaced my rear break pads on my 325xi sedan and I followed the process step by step cleaned it up nice lubed the guide pins and all but the rear drivers side is clamped onto the rotor what can I do ?
No difference on breaking distance. But bigger breaks loose heat faster, and also gain heat slowly, so your don't end up loosing your breaks under heavy load. Also, running significantly colder means no rotors will bent.
Really nice and helpful video thanks bro Look bro i have an e46 m3 and i wanna upgrade its brake discs to the e90 330i it has 330 mm brake discs Can it be done ? If it can what parts should i buy ? I am doing this as there are no brake discs in my country and shipping is really expensive
If I want to swap the rear and get 330i rear arms, then how about 1) the senor, are they from a 320 the same as a 330i? Does the Axels fits my 320 dif?
in this video you said the wagon had done a 330 swap could you tell me PLEASE what work needs to happen to my (325ci) m54b25 so that i can drop a engine from a 330ci (m54b30) into it. im assuming i would need other components from the 330 ?
I have a bmw 335i 2007 e90 n54 I changed my water pump and thermostat because I tried to bleed it and it wasn’t working and also a Mecanic told me it was the water pump So I replaced it and it’s happening again , the car looses power while driving and get the water temperature warning yellow and red . I tried to bleed the water pump once again with the new one installed but It doesn’t do anything. Can you please help me ?
I have a 2003 z4 2.5, I beleive the stock disc size is 286mm, do you know if the 330 e46 front discs are the same as the z4 3.0 and would e46 parts fit the z4? I have seen 325mm front discs on ebay listed for the e46 any idea which calipers/ brackets I'd need to get to make them fit? Your videos are very well done and you're clearly well up on bmw stuff so thats why im asking, thanks
330 has 325mm discs, you'll need the callipers and brackets from 330. Dont forget about wear sensors and also i dont know if the brake lines are same like old ones
Just wondering (if you know...) will this e46-330 brake upgrade bolt onto an e36 spindle/hub (if upgraded to 17" wheels). Thanks for the great vid. 2 thumbs up!!
I've used textar before.... They are great O.E Replacement brake pads and rotors but honestly they produce a lot of brake dust and squeak after a while.
Yes, and in fact 325Xi is the only car in the whole lineup to which you can fit 330 rear brakes without any modification because 325Xi comes from factory with larger 330 parking brake shoes. This does not apply to 325i, only 325xi.

@@nicklane103 with good offset you can fit 16 but it is pointless..

Please make a video on how to upgrade the rears if you can, Thanks for this video also!

Would 330ci brake upgrade work on a 2000 BMW 323ci??
What is needed for the rear 330 conversion? Do I just buy 330 brake shoes and fit them onto my car?
Why did you change the lines and sensor? Aren't they the same?
Big brake upgrade for E46 is mounting the M3CSL 345mm brakes. Those are Just a Little bigger.
There is a special caliper and pad grease for 5his application. Graphite grease shouldn't be used here imho.
The guide pins should only be greased with silicon grease, as they are inside rubber bushings.
From 09.2001 master cylinders of 325 and 330 are same. Theoretic you dont need replace it
Are brake lines same?
Boa tarde amigo sabe me dizer se travagem e46 m3 e aplicação directa em e46 coupe 320

what is the braking performance differential here, in terms of stopping distance? any changes to fluid or master cylinder needed at all?
No difference on breaking distance. But bigger breaks loose heat faster, and also gain heat slowly, so your don't end up loosing your breaks under heavy load. Also, running significantly colder means no rotors will bent.
Do you really have the change the rotor or you really don’t have to.!?

Was there a reason you went with regular rotors and not drilled and slotted? There isn't much of a price difference.
Can fit of x3 diesel caliper ?
Can you do this on a 320 2005 convertible ?
Hey man, what do you think - should I sell my 2005 ZHP 330i with 227k or my 2001 530i Sport with 119k?

Your not supposed to grease up the whole rear of the pad. Only the small contact points at the ends of the pads.
I guess this will be a bolt on onto 328ci?
Thanks for the vid, what's the model number on that drill that you are using. Trying to get my wrench tool game up. Thanks.
Hi, I have a 02 BMW e46 M3 im looking for a OEM BMW Brembo brake/rotor upgrade. Does anyone know what car they would come off to bolt up to my M3?
330i e46? Or e90? Maybe some part numbers would help. Thanks for the suggestion and informative video. Bump
E46 (I know...2 years later)
Can i just upgrade the front brakes to 330 by itself. Or do you have to do the rear as well?
You can do just the fronts
in this video you said the wagon had done a 330 swap

SHERMA Rear axles, they are thicker from a 330. And the brakes. Easy jobs.
Helloo, i have e36 318i 97, can i update my rear drum brakes to disk and what disk should I use ?

What if I have no dust shield ?
What if i will stay with 325i brake discs covers? What can happen?
What happens if you don't put grease on the brakes
Thorough and well thought out. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
You are not going to paint the caliper?

Could I use silicone paste on the caliper guide pins? Also, is copper anti-seize for the backs of the pads and the caliper bracket ok?
Are the anti rattle clips universal with all e46s?
I did front and rear, the rear just swapped trailing arms and axles
Just wondering (if you know...) will this e46-330 brake upgrade bolt onto an e36 spindle/hub (if upgraded to 17" wheels). Thanks for the great vid. 2 thumbs up!!
neilskiw yes
Will e39 540i brake calipers and rotor fit for e39 525i style 32 17 inch rims?
First! As always great job with this video and thanks for providing all the info.
Anybody know if bmw e90 brake calipers would fit an e46?
Will this also fit on a 323i?
Yes it will
Thank you
Do you need 17 inch wheels with this, or will the 16 inch wheels still fit on the bigger brakes?
promotedemocracy 17 minimum
You Need 17 inch wheels
You need 17 inch wheels
promotedemocracy the smallest size rims you can use are 17 inch
You'll need 17s
How much difference in braking? I like tinkering with my 325 but is it worth the hassle?
I doubt it unless you track it
It's all heavier too, so technically your car will be slower and handle worse
Is there a big difference between 330 brakes and those used on a 320 m sport?
330 has something around 315mm front rotors while the 320 has 276mm. if i remember correctly
Can you link where you got that m3 bumper?
I know you do alot of 3 series BMWs but I have a e39 528i if I wanted to do the same oem big brake upgrade could I use the e39 540i brakes?
im also thinking the same for my style 32 17 inch rims bmw e39 525i
Thank you Bro. Good informative video.
lol another perfect timing vid, doing brakes this weekend. could you link me to the exact parts you used?
just look up textar on FCPEuro.
I've used textar before.... They are great O.E Replacement brake pads and rotors but honestly they produce a lot of brake dust and squeak after a while.
Would 15 inch rims with my snow tires fit with the 330 brakes?
No, 16inch from e60 with et 20 are the smallest.
Definitely not, I think you need a 17
Theres a 330ci at my local pull-a-part. Will coupe caliper/carrier fit my 325xi?
Yes, and in fact 325Xi is the only car in the whole lineup to which you can fit 330 rear brakes without any modification because 325Xi comes from factory with larger 330 parking brake shoes. This does not apply to 325i, only 325xi.
So, for a 320Ci, if I wanna put 330ci rear brake how I can make my parking brake work ?
What springs do you have on that car?
Bilstein B4, if i'm correct.
thank you 🌹❤️
Please make a video for the rears brake also.

What about the emergency break. I did the upgrade to my 323. Do I need to get 330 emergency break also?
Does this work on the 325xi
What if I have a 330 and I want bigger breaks
The next step up is the M3 brakes, which are slightly bigger but requires using the M3 spindle assembly.
